If we sign Koumetio then that to me confirms Mesik is here to play LWB.That means we need attacking RWB options (so not Harry Clarke) and we need to keep Campbell to be our attacking outlet on the left - plus sign an alternative attacking option to TC so that we don’t run him into the ground like we did last season by overplaying him7

I'd still be happy with a more defensive RWB (although I don't think Clarke is as good a defender as many do and I'd never play him at RCB) for when we want to play a box midfield and want to create space for the 10's to be able to pull wide. I think that switch up in system is when TC gets a restNabySarr said:If we sign Koumetio then that to me confirms Mesik is here to play LWB.That means we need attacking RWB options (so not Harry Clarke) and we need to keep Campbell to be our attacking outlet on the left - plus sign an alternative attacking option to TC so that we don’t run him into the ground like we did last season by overplaying him1 -
Probably not us but I see that Kasey Palmer is joining an unnamed Championship team this week. He finished the season well but very checkered injury history.0

If we keep Ramsay then I’m not sure we need that option. And the 2 10s worked much better when Fevrier was at wing back so we need still definitely need that attacking wing back option in that systemfenaddick said:

When we sign some attacking RWBs or get TC a new contract then I’ll be very happy we are moving in the right direction and returning to the 3-5-2/4-2-3-1 hybrid where we’ve played our best football over the last few years2 -
Crispywood said:Can we just appreciate in the space of 24hours we may have gone from Gillesphey LCB and TC LWB to Koumetio LCB and Mesik LWBI would certainly like to think it’s an upgrade but nobody knows for sure as I doubt there is a person on this forum that has seen / knew of either player before today.
Feeling optimistic but feet on the ground until we know what we’ve got17 -
They would have to be absolutely abysmal to be a worse combo than thatDamoNorthStand said:Crispywood said:Can we just appreciate in the space of 24hours we may have gone from Gillesphey LCB and TC LWB to Koumetio LCB and Mesik LWBI would certainly like to think it’s an upgrade but nobody knows for sure as I doubt there is a person on this forum that has seen / knew of either player before today.

A lot of talk on here of IM playing LWB.
Saw a post from his Dutch club announcing him leaving on X
one of their fans comments said that he’s a great CB, very good with his feet and carrying the ball out of defence. That person also said he has played LWB but his crossing isn’t great.
In general their fans rate him though.8 -
Are these 2 new recruits world beaters then ? No-one has seen them play yet. Yes, they may turn out to be inspired signings like Lloyd Jones and Kayne Ramsay......or they might turn out to be duds like Tanto & Ahadme.Crispywood said:Can we just appreciate in the space of 24hours we may have gone from Gillesphey LCB and TC LWB to Koumetio LCB and Mesik LWB
The proof, as they say, is in the eating.5 -
Just one Koumetio
Give him to me
Delicious football

Koumetio would be a welcome addition for me and then we need a RWB and cover imo.If we only get one in down the right, I’m not sure Ramsay is an appropriate back up.A couple of midfielders (one hard, aggressive holding midfielder to break up the play but also be able to pass and start a move), and then we need the creativity. Where’s the creativity coming from. That’s going to be the key this season. We need something to take the pressure off the way Jones sets the team up. We have to have outlets and put the opposition on the back foot. Teams know how we set up now.We rode the buzz of promotion last season and being an unknown quantity in the first 10 games, but then it was a long hard road.I’m confident though. Like last season, it sounds like there’s thought and a plan gone into getting players in, and absolutely no point in writing any of them off until we’ve seen what they can do11

Nice that we've been able to sort the Left side of Defence so early this summer, especially before SloveniaLike the Goalkeeper position the year before, it was a bit of an annoyance last year with us unable to really get anyone else in, and we're lucky on this occasion it didn't do more damage to our overall campaign... Of course still need to think about other areas of the pitch, but given how Jones spoke about left footed players being a challenge to find, its one large piece of the puzzle now out the way.3

We definitely had a lot of momentum but we weren’t an unknown quantity that got found out. We played pretty much exactly the way we did in league 1 at the start of last season, so the championship teams absolutely knew what was comingcabbles said:Koumetio would be a welcome addition for me and then we need a RWB and cover imo.If we only get one in down the right, I’m not sure Ramsay is an appropriate back up.A couple of midfielders (one hard, aggressive holding midfielder to break up the play but also be able to pass and start a move), and then we need the creativity. The problem was that with the LWB injury problems we had to go away from that way of playing and we never really got back to it.Strengthening the left hand side of defence, hopefully now adding some attacking threat at RWB with a couple of signings and keeping TC plus bringing in an alternative to him will mean we can go back to our way of playing again but this season have the depth to keep playing it even with a few injuries. Add in a couple of new midfielders to the above and then we could be on to something6 -
Assuming Koumetio will be through the door today , would be nice to go to Slovenia with at least one RWB in the door although I guess it's not the end of the world to go with Ramsay and Apter there as options.1

Given it's preseason and it doesn't matter that much, I'm sure Asiimwe will get minutes tooMarcusH26 said:Assuming Koumetio will be through the door today , would be nice to go to Slovenia with at least one RWB in the door although I guess it's not the end of the world to go with Ramsay and Apter there as options.8 -
Asiimwe is still here too. Think for early pre-season him and Apter there is fine as it gives us practice with attacking RWBs before we hopefully bring in a couple of better onesMarcusH26 said:Assuming Koumetio will be through the door today , would be nice to go to Slovenia with at least one RWB in the door although I guess it's not the end of the world to go with Ramsay and Apter there as options.
Also was mentioned we might have Osei-Tutu on trial so he could play too1 -
Wonder what the situation is with Fevrier... Whether he'll be one we go for, if we miss out on targets higher up the list5
-
Stockport have a new manger who I’d assume will want to have a look. I can’t see us signing him unless he’s cheap, which he won’t be if the new manager wants to use himForeverAddickted said:Wonder what the situation is with Fevrier... Yeah Asiimwe I could see playing Friday at least for a half.NabySarr said:

If Osei-Tutu is in on trial too then it's actually a bit better than I had in my head.0 -
I imagine he'll be one we are "monitoring" without actively pursuing - if the new boss decides to move him on or he's sold for financial reasons we'd probably at least make enquiries. But on the other hand we'll have other targets and options lined up that may be higher priorities.ForeverAddickted said:Wonder what the situation is with Fevrier...
