Loan Watch 26/27
As with last season, I'll be keeping an eye on our loanees this season. It will be interesting to see if any of last year's loanees get moves up the pyramid.
We've had our first loan announced with Gassan Ahadme going to Cambridge.
It wouldn't be a surprise if any of these players (bar Mwamba) left permanently but if they're to go on loan I'd expect we're aiming to send to the leagues in brackets:
Nathan Asiimwe (League One/top end League Two/Scotland)
Alan Mwamba (League Two, Colchester?)
Zach Mitchell (League One/top end League Two/Scotland)
Henry Rylah (National League/League Two at a push)
Kaheim Dixon (League Two)/National League
Karoy Anderson (League One)
Josh Laqueretebua (National League/top end National League South/North)
Kai Enslin (National League/top end National League South/North)
Pat Casey (National League)
Tanto Olaofe (League One)
Rob Apter (League One)

I'm also going to attempt to do a weekly round up over on Substack. Completely free and hopefully a bit easier for some people to digest than reading the thread. First post is a bit of an intro and live now

Interesting loan move... a little surprised we've stuck with Crawley after Dixon's loan last year, but guess the change of Manager helps. Can see you being kept very busy this season Fen, if we're seeing youngsters head out already2

Not one I had on my radar for going out. Given our academy defenders have tended to go to NLS/NLN this is very promisingForeverAddickted said:Interesting loan move... a little surprised we've stuck with Crawley after Dixon's loan last year, but guess the change of Manager helps. Can see you being kept very busy this season Fen, if we're seeing youngsters head out already4 -
I like him, I’ve said before he was the best of the group we signed for our u21s last season. The others were released.
He’s got the size and ability on the ball, so this will be a great test to see if he’s capable at EFL level.
U21 football being less physical doesn’t fully show how good CBs are in the air, their pace, their strength or their consistency.
His range of passing started to shine late last season, he’s right footed but can also use his left to pick out longer balls.
One to look out for, I thought Laqeretabua was the best CB at u21 level from the streams I saw, but he closed the gap as the season went on.2 -
If he's managed to get a League 2 loan, I wonder if that means we're trying to get Josh a League 1 loan1

Bath fans definitely thought he was a cut above early in his loan there and they were playing him in midfield. Crawley’s recruitment team do like a risk though so I wouldn’t be surprised if Laq still ended up in the NL/L2sam3110 said:If he's managed to get a League 2 loan, I wonder if that means we're trying to get Josh a League 1 loan2 -
I seriously doubt a L1 club takes Josh on loan jumping 3 divisions after half a season is a bit of a joke unless ur a non league player moving to a U21 academy.sam3110 said:If he's managed to get a League 2 loan, I wonder if that means we're trying to get Josh a League 1 loanTbh weve had a lot of hype around upcoming young CB’s Elewere Zach Ness etc when they were coming through, Ewans-Findlay not so much fan appraisal surprised we got him a L2 loan in the first place.0 -

Crawley's next signing has come from Juventus. Quite the difference between Eltham and Turin0

A little reminder that I'm posting weekly updates on Substack. Obviously not very interesting at the moment but hopefully they're of interest as the season progresses.
