    That’s because we spent the last 10 years in L1 where £500k was a hefty fee. The fees we paid last year were peanuts for this division, I see Stoke have just dropped £10m on a signing. You also don’t know what wages those recruits were on, again I bet it was peanuts for this division. We took high risk gambles on players making the step up. We did that because that’s all we could afford and was the only option open to us, luckily, enough worked out, but then, that would’ve always been the plan. We had the third worst budget in the league but we were not relegated, so our recruitment over performed last season. Calling that a disaster is embarrassing!

    It certainly makes a change from the days of signing Terrell Thomas, Ryan Inniss and those 3 loanees we brought in on deadline day a couple of years ago, the Man City duo and the Luton lad.  I can’t even remember their names now they were that forgettable

    Excellent interview with NJ proves that the nonsense being spread is rubbish.. he loves working for this club , he loves working with the owners who put him under no pressure and back him financially with what he wants to do .. looking at 7 new signings , wants quality not quantity but has told fans to be calm cause it’s going to be a slow window getting the players we want , as they have to be better then we got , create better and score more goals .. spoke about the new signings and the players we brought last summer now all will be better for the experience of last season.  NJ despite reports is very happy and loves being  Charlton manager as he said we are still in the early years of our plan . 
    Spoke about the youth set up and the women’s team who have also been backed financially by the owners.
