  • And the quote from NJ was essentially last year we had the pick of the best in League 1 and as that was the level we were at, we were the big fish so it was easier to pick up the best League 1 striker (Kelman) and the best League 1 CAMs (Knibbs and Carey)

He then said this year we need to be more patient and focus on the quality over the quantity, and because of this, and because we're looking at players higher up than we were, it's going to be a longer process as we need them to buy into our vision, and these things will take time. He also mentioned it's more about looking to add players who can score different kinds of goals and unlock defences in a different way to how we looked last season, in the final third, so there's a shift in who we're looking at. At no point does he say we can't afford championship players or anything similar
  • Last played for gillingham in league 2 when he was south of the border.
31 years old, it would be a shite signing

I mean we all knew it wasn’t going to happen but Cawley has rubbished Jones to West Ham which is great news.
probably the most significant piece of news posted this year (let's hope he's not off to millwall!!!)
Honestly I don't know how this didn't get it's own thread for the sheer amount of BS posted around it, the user that started the whole story even tried tying in TalkSport journos who came out and said it's utterly rubbish. Just a kid trying to get some likes on Twatter in the end
I had plenty of people telling me a week or so ago that he was off to west ham - my view was yes, they would probably love to sign him and not surprised they have been linked, but most clubs in our division would love to sign him but i'd be very surprised if we don't offer what it needs to keep him - losing Lloyd Jones would have been almost as big a set back as getting relegated. It's not been confirmed yet whether he's extended or just staying or going elsewhere of course but to me, if he leaves this summer, we'd find it very hard to recover from that.
West Ham would be able to pay a salary we'd not get near to.
Having said that, I cannot see them going for him.

Hi, satisfied Golfie client over here 👋🏼.

What he lacks in technical expertise he more than makes up for with good vibes.

A cynic would say we've signed the 2 defenders early as 90% of our coaching in pre season will be based on the defence. An optimist would say its because we're trying to get some of the less costly signings out the way early so we can throw everything we've got left to pay for the players who are gonna get us playing and scoring.
I would say park the bus is our plan this season.

I’m surprised he isn’t being looked at by other clubs too to be honest. But that story in particular was proven to be utter nonsense, I’m surprised more folk didn’t pick up on how it all unfolded for the user who started the lie
  • Jones will be 31 in October. For the amount we'd demand to make it worth our while there aren't really going to be any teams looking to pay given his lack of sell on value. Teams will be aware he doesn't have long left on his contract and will be thinking about picking him up on a free next summer if he doesn't sign a new deal with us. I think we're actually in a pretty good spot with him

You’d be amazed how many people will believe anything they read. Plus lots of people love to read an article and then claim they heard it as well, almost as fact when said rumour is discussed. Chinese whispers instead of source checking seems too easy these days. As long as your man in the know wasn’t telling you of course!

If this is true then we should have stuck with Ahadme instead

Great player but not played much past few seasons

@golfaddick without deductions, Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford, Leicester and Blackburn would have all finished below us still
    Thought someone would say this.

Do you not think it did great damage to morale, esp to Sheff Wed knowing they were now playing "catch up". Iirc Leicester were above us when they had their points deducted & I would imagine they would have stayed above us if none had been deducted.

But I'm wrong as usual so I'll just crawl back under my rock.
  • Patrick Bauer signs for Cambridge.

What is the point on maintaining this "A Trialist", been told not to name when we all know who it is...

Yeah pretty sure he is a fan but found it a bit odd that there was no Kaminski in the squad and he was at the ground. There may be absolutely nothing in it but just found that strange 😂

Think if he’s at the ground it’s unlikely we’re actively flogging him
