selling him to Darford?fenaddick said:
Think if he’s at the ground it’s unlikely we’re actively flogging himCB1 said:
Yeah pretty sure he is a fan but found it a bit odd that there was no Kaminski in the squad and he was at the ground. There may be absolutely nothing in it but just found that strange 😂AberystwythAddick said:
Hes a charlton fan isn’t he. Isn’t his dad a fan as well?CB1 said:Im standing next to James Beadle the Brighton gk at the game tonight. Don’t know what you want to make of that but hes here.Played for us at youth level as well

He would be a brilliant signing, but I think there’s not really any chance he’d want to join us given that half the league will be after him.John_Fitzpatrick1 said:I just can’t shake the feeling that Brian De Keersmaecker would be an absolutely perfect fit for us.
I know there’ll be plenty of interest in him (Derby when I last looked) and I’m not expecting us to pull it off, but I really hope he’s someone we’re looking at. He’s got everything we’re missing in midfield. Proper box-to-box, , good on the ball, wins his duels and has the engine to play the way Nathan Jones wants.
At 26 he’s coming into his best years as well.
For me, he’s exactly the sort of signing that could take our midfield up a level.
Probably wishful thinking, but he’d be right at the top of my list.
Blow the budget JonesyWhat we need to do is buy the next De Keersmacker. Find someone from Europe for a few million that is good enough and ready to slot straight into the championship. Not easy, but we will have to try and do that rather then buy the proven option with our budget7 -
All from the Substack pod:
We're looking for wingers because we're gonna play 433 this season. Jones thought Redmond looked sharp and has been fantastic in training, and will be off to Slovenia.
Docherty, Sichenje, Bell, Godden and Edwards all name dropped as absent but in training.
Enslin, Mwamba, Fullah and Gough name dropped as youngsters doing well.
Apter confirmed as in Jones' plans, wanted to leave in Jan to get more minutes as he was frustrated Bree got in ahead of him, so Jones obliged.
Jones also mentioned Mesík as standing out second half, made a comment about "now we've seen how he plays" which is probably a comment on how often he looked to get forwards being surprising.

Very happy if we move to a 433/423118

Need a really good wide player and might mean we see the best of TC this season5

JRS come home!15

If we are to play a four we are overloaded with CB's. If you take Ramsay out of the picture (wouldn't be ideal in a 2) you have:
Jones
Sichenje
Burke
Bell
A Mitchell (to be sold)
Z Mitchell (to be sold/loaned)
Gough
Koumetio
That's 6 players for 2 positions. Maybe it works if you discount Burke (fitness) and count Gough as a youth player but it sounds like NJ considers Gough a solid squad player2 -

NJ didn't say we're always going to be playing 433/4231, but rather that he wants the option to switch from his 352/343 system.
IF we do just play 4 at the back, we have quite a lot of centre backs - fenaddick beat me to that comment
Jones, Bell, Sichenje, Koumetio would all expect to be playing, plus we have Burke and the younger Z Mitchell and Gough
Ramsay would be just a RB, Mesik just a LB (alongside Edwards).
And if you have just the one central striker, they need to be able to hold the ball up, which isn't really Kelman's game.1 -

Possibly sell Ramsay given one year left (I hope not)
Loan out Gough.
Ignore Burke given his fitness issues.
You then gave 4 CBs.3 -
The most interesting thing from his interview wasn't the shape thing (which sounded to me like an options thing rather than a permanent change) but him admitting we can't afford current Championship players like Galbraith (went for a rumoured £10m). Helps to rule out some rumours in current weeks1

Have we been linked with any Champ players recently though?fenaddick said:The most interesting thing from his interview wasn't the shape thing (which sounded to me like an options thing rather than a permanent change) but him admitting we can't afford current Championship players like Galbraith (went for a rumoured £10m). Helps to rule out some rumours in current weeksPositive thing I’ve taken from NJ’s first two interviews is I think how he says we’re going for real quality, especially in the attacking front. Rich Cawley said on the pod he’d heard 7 new bodies and all starters. Fingers crossed!6 -
Only Dael Fry (who has gone to Birmingham) but there's still almost 2 months left!mart77 said:

Andy Hessenthaler was near me at the ground. So either he is replacing Doc in midfield or more likely, he was there in a scouting capacity for Gills.
Could see a couple of youngsters head his way.3 -
Alternative option for Mwamba maybe? The other youngsters who played today should be aiming for League OneL0rd_M0ntagu3 said:Andy Hessenthaler was near me at the ground. So either he is replacing Doc in midfield or more likely, he was there in a scouting capacity for Gills.

Was anything mentioned about Anderson and his non involvement?0

Yes, for those not sure, the system we played to get promotion. 4-3-3 in attack which then reverts to 5-3-2 / 3-5-2 in defence. Encouraging to also hear Apter may be utilised, guessing in the Small role which might then mean we only need to sign one RB/RWB instead of two?killerandflash said:NJ didn't say we're always going to be playing 433/4231, but rather that he wants the option to switch from his 352/343 system.

@golfaddick...as an IFA, do you deliver your clients' gains based on their actual performance, or what they could have been if all variables went the way they were based on potential?golfaddick said:
Thought someone would say this.sam3110 said:@golfaddick without deductions, Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford, Leicester and Blackburn would have all finished below us still
Do you not think it did great damage to morale, esp to Sheff Wed knowing they were now playing "catch up". Iirc Leicester were above us when they had their points deducted & I would imagine they would have stayed above us if none had been deducted.
But I'm wrong as usual so I'll just crawl back under my rock.4 -

We’ll take some cabo verde players!0

This. Guarantee he’ll get injured before the start of the season. We’ve just got to accept it was a poor buy and wait for his contract to run out. He’s not an option imo. I just hope we’re done with taking on consistently injured players. So frustrating and we don’t have the luxury of the quality of squad/team depth and talent to be entertaining itAthletico Charlton said:
