I don’t think Mitchell will be in the squad.
For Wrexham or for Millwall U21s today?
For Wrexham. I have heard from a player that he has fallen out with Jones.😀
And a few weeks later Zach is on the bench

Looking at Enslin getting game time at Dorking (a level he is probably above), I wonder if it would be worthwhile sending Zach on loan to Dorking for rest of the season seeing he isnt likely to feature for us.

I get he is (likely) above that level but would be a good way to get him some game time and as long as he performs well boost his confidence?

In terms of ability, our U21 is probably level with national league/national league south. Loans at that level is mainly to toughen players up, Mitchell has had SPL and League 2 experience he doesn’t need a taste of men’s football. It’s a waste of him either way playing in U21 or NL/NLS but at least being at the club he’s subject to higher level of coaching and can try and adapt to what Jones want

Tbh I think coping physically would be why we would send him down there to "toughen up", we say he has been at SPL and league 2 but league 2 was two seasons ago and it didnt go great for numerous reasons and in the time in SPL he only played around 10 games.

Hopefully he's giving Zak special coaching in the dark arts!

Either way I think for the lads own good we make a decision early whether he will be given the chance to impress here or we send him on loan early to the right level/team. How long has he got left on his contract?

Contract up next summer. Would assume we maybe have an option so have loaned him out? Otherwise we might as well have looked for a permanent solution

Young enough that we’d get compensation possibly? He isn’t going to command much of a fee this summer anyway

Good point. If he really excels then maybe there’s still a chance for him here, but more likely we will take the compensation next summer and hopefully he has a good loan here to add to that

Pleased to hear that the lad has secured his short term future.

I'm certain he'll grab this opportunity with both hands ( and feet!) and is one of the first names on the teamsheet each week.

Stay focused & injury free and who knows where this temporary move will take him.

    Sending him verey good wish.

Arguably MOTM when he made his league debut at 17 home to Cheltenham when we lost 1-0 very surprised he never kicked on.

Think this is the very very rare occasion we’ve got a youngsters development horribly wrong. Wouldn’t be surprised if he kicks on from here, Hopefully a good 6 month loan will get a team to pick him up permanently in Jan for a bit of cash

Good luck to him, we will surely be monitoring him.

Feel this season will be make or break for him in regards to his future with us.

Glad it has been sorted early so he gets a full pre-season with his new team.

Has another option of another 12 months assume the plan will be very similar to harry Clarke hopefully he does fantastically and then can trigger the option to get some money for him

The St Johnstone fans are in no doubt about him returning and the fact that he is going back to a club where he previously felt wanted when on loan has to have been a massive factor in his decision to go there:

"Brilliant signing. Gus and Simo are building an exciting squad."

"That would be an outstanding signing. Him and Diabate should work well together. His ability on the ball will be a huge asset. Was also pretty quick if I remember, or maybe just in the right place. Either way top defender."

"If Bozo signs then that’s a fantastic back 3. Likely spells the end for Baird however."

"Valakari confirms in his post match interview that Zach Mitchell turned down "multiple" other clubs and will be joining us on loan again soon."

"Really positive words from Mitchell in the bbc interview. Looks great for the club and Simo. Think he’s going to be great this season. Back three of Mitchell, Diabate and (hopefully) Bozo is pretty decent."

I would have preferred if he was loaned to a top half of the table league two side.  Probably no guarantee of playing time for a league one club.  The variability in the quality in Scotland will make it harder to judge his performances

Mitchell was a success at St Johnstone before and the fans loved him.

If his face fits there - then it's the right place for him to progress.

He only played 8/9 games last time but you are correct he was well thought of. As for if his face fits he will need to make it fit by training and performing well, also having the right attitude which to be fair has never been an issue before.

As for it being scottish league so difficult to judge standards? Maybe but same could be said for Edwards when we got him. The most important thing for Zach is he is getting competitive first team football regularly. I believe we have an option so perhaps we judge how he has done by Christmas and make a decision.

And Edwards was playing in the Scottish Championship rather than the Premiership

Exactly most ofnwhat everyone has posted has been fair here, its in Zach hands (or feet) to determine his own future
