If we were playing the game on a wet Tuesday night in Manchester we would run out easy winners.
They aren’t in the same league as even Croatia.
But conditions even the playing field.
its a game of four quarters.
    1-1 England through on penalties.
Then we will play Brazil off the park.

    Gloomy final game, sadly.

I’d play Konsa at right back for this one and the rest of the Man City defence

Bring Watkins on late to stretch them if we are still in it but I do fear we are going to wilter in the heat and hostility

In the pub for this and setting my alarm for 10.28 first teams meeting at 10.30 tomorrow 😂
Heat probably not a problem, the BBC weather app is showing 18C at 18.00. Altitude is more of a problem.

To any Charlton fans going to the Azteca tonight, hope you enjoy this one. What a unique experience at one of the world's great stadiums

With the defensive players we have I can only see Mexico winning.

Game delayed because of weather. England to scrape through 2-1.

Just hoping we get it done in 90 minutes because if the altitude is as big a factor as we keep hearing then we definitely don't want to play an extra half an hour. We also have players like Saka and Rice who are clearly not fit, so we need to get it done and get out of there.

Our first team 11 is definitely of much higher quality. So are our subs.

I think we get this done in 90 minutes, but I also
think we’ll see a lot of changes throughout the game.

This is the one that I looked at pre tournament with a bit of trepidation. Either it all clicks or we come unstuck quite badly I reckon.

Mexico in Mexico at altitude was always gonna be a challenge. Mexico aren't great on paper but home support in a tournament really matters. And being used to the altitude will be a huge help.

Get through this one and I think we will be in the semis at least. I'm hoping this is the game where it all clicks.

Konsa at RB seems to be the only combination we haven't tried. Its also the way to get Stones and Guehi as a pair without Tuchel having to drop his favourite golden boy.

Hopefully that means the defence clicks a bit better. Tempted to try Rogers on the left as both Rashford and Gordon look better coming off the bench.

It’s no Yeovil away, but try to enjoy it.

And this is a good illustration of why that’s the case:

    Higher altitude than Mount Everest?

Play a centre-back pairing of Hillary and Tenzing and we should be OK.

    It’s 2000m up not 15000

18c and light rain for kick off. Like a September / October game in England.
Yep just like at the Valley with the same altitude sickness problems we had at top steps of the old East terrace!

Sounds like James isn’t back fit and Spence has picked up a knock. Quansah or Rice at RB. Worth noting that Mexico’s best player is their left winger

Did I hear Thomas in his interview say They have to be the best version of themselves?
He's been listening to a compilation of Nathan Jones finest speeches.

"Never, in the field of football matches, was so much owed by so many crap players to so few decent ones (Kane and Bellingham)"

  • Wasn't it for exactly this type of match that Tuchel came in for?
If it was still Southgate he would have been worrying about countering the threat of three Mexican players.
Hope we don't over complicate things - keep it tight early doors and then our quality should start to show through.
2-0 England both 2nd half goals.
Also got a feeling Brazil might go out tonight!!

Really hope we beat them just for their dickhead fans outside our hotel and their muggy fans all over social media. Got proper ahead of themselves this mob.

    Nice birds tho.

More worried about this game than if we end up playing Brazil.
2-2 and Mexico go through on pens.

Haaland and Gabriel going at each other hammer and tongs like the Arse/City games.

I'm interested to see a couple of comments about us having to overcome their raucous support and home support in a tournament really matters.

I agree 100%, but in the spring when Charlton were tail spinning towards the relegation zone I called for our fans to continue to stick with and get behind the team.

I was met with a dissenting majority saying home support made no/little difference.

We went life and death with DR Congo.

Not really in the position to say any team are beneath us.
