Finished 3-2. A shame but a good season in all for a very young group that was dismantled at the end

Chris Lock having to release his son must have been pretty brutal. 11 U21 players (+Casey) under contract means a lot of minutes for U18s and probably some clever recruitment needed

Maybe a good time to plug the upcoming CAST CAFC Academy Q&A 😉

No mention of raynon richman on there has he already left the club? Always looked a good player when I’ve seen him

Offering a deal to the enigmatic yet amazingly prolific Casey.

He’s a first year scholar so will still be in the u18s next season. But I expect he’ll he offered a pro deal early, like Reid and Sol-Loza last season.

There’s a bunch of names missing, just from the semi-final - Ezenwata, Muhvati, Peterkin, Podgorny, Richman, Thomas(who just won the Pierre Bolangi award) & Williams. Maybe there’s a reason, but I can’t imagine what it is.

Ezenwata is an U16. Not sure about the status of the rest of others

I thought that could be n issue for some of them, but most are 17 as far as I can tell.

Good to see a former academy player looking like he’ll make his way back up the leagues.

I had him as a defensive midfielder with us. Gelled well with Karoy.

I haven’t seen him play recently, but from what I saw of him with us he deserves to make progress and have opportunities.

Was surprised he dropped all the way to the NLS in the first place. Always looked to have really good technical ability and was a bit surprised he was even released

Agree, was a star in the U21s but those were strange days

Would be good to see him get a chance in the league.

Kevin James has signed Tommy Reid and Seydil Toure for Waltham & Hersham. They’re in the NLS after being promoted last season, wouldn’t be surprised to see some u21s go there on loan too.

Can’t help but feel Patrick Casey is being poorly advised if he’s not signing a contract

Is he? May want to go somewhere with a bit more stability and have better direction than constantly getting loaned out every other month.

If he signs for a L1 or L2 team, then that’s probably going to continue to happen (ie getting loaned out). He’s at the stage of his career where he needs game time, so either sign for a NL or NLS team, or sign for a Champ team and get loaned to the NL or NLS where you’ll come back to that Champ team at the end of your loan.

We have quite a good reputation of looking after our young players. A lot come through, and those that don’t come through usually move on to find other clubs.

    It’s just my opinion.

He should sign for a NL team. The issue is we’ll be due compensation they might not be able to afford. Wouldn’t be surprised if he signs with us in September ish

Whoever he signs for we'd be due compensation so I would be surprised if it was National League.

The security team at Sparrows Lane refused access to a Celtic scout who turned up to watch him in a game a couple of seasons ago.

The man wasn't on the all important list.

His injuries have been a problem but he does score goals when he's on the pitch.

Charlton loans haven't worked out for several of the Academy players.
