Bellingham is the first player to score twice at the Azteca in a World Cup match since Maradona in 1986.

Bellingham scored 2 bona fide goals where Maradona scored one brilliant goal and we were robbed with the other one !
We were robbed on both. Watch the replay, Hoddle has the ball, 2 footed lunge that take the man and not even close to the ball, breaks to an Argentinian who then passes to Maradona.

And for those thinking it was a long night, I'm in Prague, so ended up being a 3am kick off. Had to beg my way into an Irish bar with the Mrs. Was daylight when we came out!

  • Thomas Tuchel just mentioned being the 'best versions of ourselves'

Been taking notes from Jones. Especially during the last 20 minutes.

Rightly so.  Mexico's first came from a non free kick.  Mexico fouled England repeatedly first half, all.small.ones.to break up play and the ref did nothing.  Mexico got in the ref and linesmen faces time after time, the ref did nothing.
The sending off was right sadly, didn't mean it but got it wrong.
    The England penalty was blatant.
The Mexico one was never a penalty for me.  It's a contact sport, not every contact is a foul.  Kanes connection was accidental and had no impact whatsoever on what ended up happening with the ball.

Without that red card I think we win that one comfortably btw.

When they changed shape we were well on top .

Feel a bit sorry for my neighbours.  Think they were asleep and planning on watching today... They may have an inkling as to who won though!

Think anyone trying to watch on catch up will have a hard time not finding out the result unless they live in a cave. Will save them a lot of stress mind you!

We won so I will say it. I think it was a stain on FIFA that we had to play this game with no chance of acclimitation. If you have a tournament in Mexico the teams can prepare for it. So a team we would beat 4 nil at Wembley had a big physical advantage. Then we had adversity. The free kick for their first wasn't a free kick, I thought the pen against Kane was soft and 11 minutes was excessive and then he wanted to let them  take two corners after that ended. The sending off was correct and you have to be proud of our lads to a man for coming through that as winners.

Pickford brave tonight too. In an ideal world you have goalie who can catch those crosses but he took charge of situations and got good solid punches on a lot of high balls, not to mention one of the saves of the tournament.

Think Gordon has answered a few critics in his last two appearances. Game changing assists vs DR Congo and he was great tonight. John Robinsonesque!

You can see why Barcelona signed him now.
    That is a brilliant comparison

Wish I could have seen that game as a neutral. Must have been a great watch

Kane did a fantastic Joe Pasquale impression to cap it off.

He threw everything at it. Full commitment, resulting in getting booked, deep into the second half. And then stretchered off, on oxygen, badly injured.

    What a game he had.

    Imagine if he'd actually played

I've decided I'm not. Less than an hour's sleep then back to back meetings all day - this is gonna be epic.

Best performance of the tournament. Tuchel played a masterclass tactically, Jude Bellinghams portrait should be in the national portrait gallery, Harry Kane has the nerves of a serial killer being questioned, Dan Burn would throw himself in front of a nuke to protect blighty, 30% of the earth is covered by water the rest is covered by Anthony Gordon, Rice may be the universe's first quantum footballer existing in several states of perpetual motion at same time, Konsa is so versatile and adaptable he could play all 4 instruments for the beetles by himself.

10/10 every single one of them.

Gordon - best I've seen him play
    Jude is just Jude
Rice - was excellent, especially considering the harsh first min booking, on a tightrope after that already
I'm a Pickford critic but he was immense tonight

I’m just about to head to bed for a steady 8 hours of kip. Some payback for all those 5:30 am kickoffs during the domestic season.

Shouldn't post when well into the second bottle (never mind what) but here we are.
What a performance and result, especially given all the circumstances against us.
Hopefully it is still OK to be a proud Englishman. Because I am.
    Cheers all!

Of course it is ok to be a proud Englishman. All of us are. Don't make this epic moment political.

Bellingham is like Bryan Robson, with a bit of Gazza and the pace of a winger.  Such a talent.
