Different to a glorious 1-0 away for Charlton. Or even 4-0 v Wycombe

The current India 20/20 squad is very weak, it just can't be their first choice surely

Goes to show what a nonsense 'India could pick 4 different XI's and still win the world cup is'. The only players they're missing are Hardik Pandya & Bumrah.

If they don't play on flat decks with tiny boundaries they're nothing special.

Well he was at the time. I can’t predict what happens in the future. At the time he did look out of form, so I was right.

Salt just has no consistency. It's either feast or famine with his batting. Luckily he's in a feast mode at the moment.

    India are absolutely honking though

If we are talking about being out of form, Buttler cannot find his for England. He had a decent IPL but pre and post that his scores in in T20Is have been (most recent first):

    8 (8)
    36 (21)
    0 (3)
    25 (17)
    0 (2)
    2 (3)
    7 (14)
    3 (4)
    3 (4)
    21 (14)
    26 (17)
    25 (21)
    39 (29)
    17 (10)
    4 (3)
    29 (25)
    0 (2)
    28 (10)

That's 18 innings going back to last September without a 50, averaging 15.11 at a strike rate of 131.40 . If this isn't guaranteed to see him hit a ton in the final T20 of this series, then nothing is.

The England v India Women's Test is of 4-day duration. Each day is scheduled to comprise of 100 overs. In the first session England bowled just 25 overs. It wasn't all seam either - almost a third of the overs (8) were bowled by Ecclestone. It's a pointless exercise increasing the proposed number of overs if you are taking virtually 5 minutes to bowl an over.

England won the toss and inserted India who are 122-3. Too many loose deliveries this morning but, at least, taking three scalps gives us some hope that we will limit India to under 300.

It's also over 30 degrees, to expect them to get close to that number in this heat is ridiculous

Under the current lack of serious punishments for over rates (note England men are the biggest offenders but they don't care about the World Test Championship or the points deductions) makes it normal not to meet the usual requirements of the day (90 overs) let alone 100 overs.

This has been abused more and more over the course of decades and has very little to do with the heat. It was 30 degrees during the 1976 Test between England and the West Indies. In the first two days there were 190 overs bowled and that included an innings break between the sides i.e. 16 overs an hour. There were 721 runs scored in those two days too so it's not as if the fielders weren't chasing the ball.

That's about 3 hours 48 minutes at the rate they've been bowling at so should be finished by 7.48pm. The only issue with that is that I believe play has to finish at 6.30pm.

Not really comparing like for like here though. The women don't play any domestic red ball cricket, they haven't played any red ball cricket since the last test which was eighteen months ago so the rhythm of test cricket just isn't there. You also didn't have the batting team getting constant changes of gloves etc. Over rates are definitely ridiculous but it's equally ridiculous to have expected modern players to bowl 100 overs today and it's just setting them up for criticism.

The criticism is not aimed at the women. It is at international cricket. England men, in recent times as I've said, have been the biggest culprits. And why impose 100 overs a day when it simply isn't possible with the rules that are currently in place?

I absolutely guarantee that if there were restrictions imposed (note I am not suggesting total removal) for glove changes, drink breaks, batters conventions in the middle, physios coming on etc etc and a team needed to get 4 wickets in the final two hours, then the fielding side would bowl a minimum of 34 overs in that time.

Just allow them 2 fielding change chances per over

England 21-1 (11) at the close. Tammy Beaumont the one to go in what will probably be her penultimate innings in international cricket.

So 85.5 overs bowled in the day. You will never get 100 overs until such time as the Laws are changed/implemented.
