Oxford fans seem to think it’s an administrative error rather than a financial issue so could mean nothing. Would still expect BDK and Mills will want to leave though2

Yes. He would be an unbelievable signing for us, unfortunately he’s too good so we’ve probably got no chance of signing him. These stats are all per 90 and benchmarked against other championship central midfielders
In terms of creativity he is right up there in the top 20% for chances created and top 5% for big chances created. All while playing for a very poor Oxford side
But crucially, playing for Oxford he also put a shift in defensively and his defensive numbers are very good
He would basically be the perfect signing for our midfield. Adding creativity but not at a huge expense to our defensive strength.I’ve said it before on this thread. We aren’t going to be able to sign him I don’t think, he will have better suitors. So we need to instead be looking into Europe and finding the next De Keersmacker, which although harder to find, is a lot more likely on our budget7 -

That is reasonably likely. If we do sign a player from Europe later this month/early August it would be a bit of a risk to chuck them straight in to the eleven for the first game. Coventry and Docherty were fine at the start of last season, we were in the top 6 with that midfield. Hopefully we get some upgrades sorted soon but it’s not exactly a disaster if that’s our midfield against Derby5 -

Yeah, I didn’t say anything about fees, my point is even if we just pay half of a prem kids wages, they’d be one of the highest paid players in the club with very little first team experience, it’s a massive risk for a club with a limited budget. I think Jones wants championship experience and that is harder to come by in the summer window.sam3110 said:

Apart from maybe one that’s very high rated, I wouldn’t want us to take a chance and spend on biggish wages and loan fees on an untested Premier League kid. Any loans should be in the mould of Bree, Clarke and Coady. Bags of Championship experience is what we need. We’re already gambling on our three foreign imports and everyone else we sign needs to be tried and tested.2

Asked my mate about Jamie Allen link and any updates and he said he's not heard anything about it since and thinks Allen may have a few offers lined up to consider, with some a little closer to home than London. I asked him if he heard of any other players being linked to us and he said he hasn't, again only going off what he's telling me so all to be taken with a pinch of salt7

What I do know tho, Agents have said in the past, it's hard to convince a young prem player to sign a contract for a lower league club on a lot less money after their prem deals expired, usually earning up to 20k a week. Then being offered 3.5k, some have refused to sign, then end up with nothing.
