Methven has a lot to answer to on this transfer.

Maybe a loan to Walton & Hersham.
A couple of people would be very aware of him.

Even if it doesn’t eventually work out, we didn’t really take a huge risk here money wise

    He's young
    A Jamaican international
Probably didn't cost a lot of money.
May still work out, may not.
Either way worth taking the chance.

It’s like signing any youngster for the academy. Cost peanuts but added publicity value and added good media content u would never get from other academy players. Hasn’t worked out in a footballing sense but hasn’t been a bad decision by any means. Who knows maybe a somewhat half decent loan and you may get a sell on fee at a club for him next season

Plus, although the event was badly run, the presence of Dixon (and our other Jamaican’s) did help bring the Unity Cup to The Valley which had potential to be a decent commercial event

Funny how Dixon is being written after one loan where he didn’t play while ZMitchell is seen as promising after having a loan where he didn’t play and another where he was really poor. No bias towards our homegrown?

I think he should be given every chance, even if it takes a bit longer, he’s a bit of a maverick, when they come good they are worth the wait. I like his unpredictability. Not expecting all to agree but that’s my thoughts🤷🏻‍♂️

If Methven had not gone over to Jamaica we'd not have spent however much it was.
At least the boy has been given a chance to further his football career, that much I will say.
This is a Ronnie Schwartz signing all over again.  More money we have lost.

A full Jamaican international, if Millwall had signed him we'd all be moaning how we can't seem to ever spot cheap foreign talent

A Charlie vanity project. Very much doubt he'll ever play for the first team.

A real shame, hasn’t really been given the chance in the first team!

has done the business in the u21s, and whilst may have struggled to step up initially , he hasn’t been given the period in the first team that is required to really see what he’s about.

Still young so fingers crossed he gets his shot

In fact, Zak did well at Colchester until the manager was sacked.

He then did well at St Johnstone despite some injuries.

That earned him a loan to Hibs but he was rarely played.

Dixon was over praised due to scoring a lot at U21 level but anyone who watched him saw he missed 4 chances for everyone he scored.  He failed to impress at Crawley although in his defence a struggling club was probably the wrong option.  He's not looked ready in our first team either.

Hibs not Hearts, not as bad as mixing up the Glasgow clubs but still not a mistake that would go down well north of the border!

So because Charlie was involved the lad is judged on that, some of our support are so damaged by some of the shit that’s gone on they get blinkered to anything possibly good going on and just moan and find it impossible to not make negative comments. This isn’t a direct dig at you Large, you’ve just got caught in the shrapnel.

If Ronnie Schwartz’s late equaliser against Rochdale isn’t in your top 5 Charlton moments of all time then what are we even doing here?

A 20% conversion rate? I'll take that - better than Kane, Messi, Ronaldo, and Mbappe!

I wouldn’t bet on that given he’s already made three league appearances for us
    I should have said ‘again’.

I meant in the respect that NJ didn’t want him, in my opinion.

I wouldn’t say I’m giving up, but I’d estimate a 5% chance he becomes a regular feature in our first team.

But NJ gave him a few tasters, and I’d assume decided he wasn’t ready, the loan didn’t do him any favours to be honest.

Wrong loan club sending him to Crawley who completely imploded. Got to get his next loan right whether that's L2 again or National League

Whilst agree double standards there’s plenty on here who watch a video and think we’ve signed a World Cup winner and the manager doesn’t know what he is doing not playing him.

I was a big believer (shocker) but at this point I think 5% is generous.

He seems like a great kid, incredibly earnest. I hope he makes it in the senior game, even if not with us. I just think the moment might have passed in SE7.

FWIW he has 27 caps for Jamaica at the age of 21, so either the Jamaican scouts are shit / biased or there’s some talent there to be unearthed and refined.

I was pricing in the possibility of us being relegated multiple times!

He did not do well at colchester. Their fans were booing him off the pitch the last couple of times he started for him.  He started brightly the first few weeks but it went downhill from there.  I personally was at a match (visiting my wife’s parents who are colchester supporters) where he was responsible for 3 out of 5 goals conceded.
