I think you’ll find you mean “dahn sarf”.

Be a bit disappointed if we don't pull off the annual non-scoring striker signing this July, someone like an Ahadame or Tomer Hemed. Just feels like the done thing.
Nobody has mentioned Cole Stockton this window 😂😬
Just missed out he went to Accrington yesterday.
Stockton was a hill I was willing to die on. The clamour on here for us to sign him, based on watching him bully a backline which included Sean Clare, Chris Gunter and Adam Matthew’s was unreal.

There were literally posters threatening to boycott the season* because he was the sort of player we should be going for.

*Never taking into account that he has never signed for a team ‘ down sarf’

I wonder how many "dodged bullets" there have been. Players that we went for, or had interest in, but either didn't get them or even turned them down only for them to go elsewhere and be absolutely rubbish.

The Andy Delort summer will always top that list.

Is this De Keersmaecker actually any good or has his stock been vastly inflated on this thread? Can't say I remember much about him last season.

He's better than we currently have so if there's a possibility sign him we should be interested.
And signing the best players from teams just relegated is an obvious way for a lower team in the Championship to strengthen.
I'll never forget seeing Paul Parker play for Fulham against us at Selhurst Park on the last match of the season. He was easily the best player on the pitch, we were promoted and Fulham were relegated.

He went on to Man utd and England via QPR.  We missed out on a gem there, no idea why we didn't go for him.

It was like Charlton Athletic verses Paul Parker.
I think we won something like 3-0 but he was awesome.

Just adding this as an adendum to the earlier chat about PL academy kids wages. From what I can work out, Barry signed this contract aged 20

Louie Barry was on around £40,000 a week and has taken a reduction to allow the move to Sheffield Wednesday, signing a 4 year deal. #AVFC didn’t receive the type of fee they would have got a year ago, but they hope he and Swinkels are the starting of raising funds through the…

If he is/was on 40 Grand  week, his agent deserves a great big percentage. A nice name perhaps disguised his lack of ability

Louie Barry is one of those players that's had so much hype after signing for Barca at 16 that it was always going to be difficult for him. Needs to settle down , stay injury free and just play football now.

Doubt we'll see any signings until they return from Slovenia at this point, would have hoped to have seen more in by now but let's hope it's because were negotiating (and close to signing) some players who will really improve us

Was that the game that the Fulham supporters brought a coffin to?

I remember absolutely smashing them at Craven Cottage a week or so before and expecting to hammer them again, but as people have said it was Charlton vs Paul Parker that night and it ended 2-0.

I feel it’s only right I try to add to this thread

Paul Parker was a key defender for Manchester United between 1991 and 1996, making 105 appearances. Sir Alex Ferguson famously dubbed him one of his best signings, and he was highly praised by teammates for his tenacious playing style. [1234]
Here are some of the most notable facts about his time at Old Trafford and his career:
    • Key Achievements: During his tenure, Parker helped Manchester United win two Premier League titles (1992–93, 1993–94), the FA Cup (1994), and the League Cup (1992). [12]
    • The Transfer: He signed from Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in August 1991 for a fee of £2 million. [1]
    • The Famous Nickname: Former England manager Bobby Robson famously described Parker’s energetic playstyle at the 1990 World Cup with the quote: "He leaps like a salmon and tackles like a ferret." [12]
    • Rare Goalscorer: A naturally defensive full-back, Parker scored just two goals during his entire Manchester United career. One memorable goal came in the 1992-93 season against Tottenham Hotspur, a special moment for him as he supported the London club as a boy. [1234]
    • England International: Before and during his early United years, he earned 19 caps for England and was a crucial starter in the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. [123]

Must say I'm a bit disappointed we're signing Paul Parker considering he's 62 and retired in 1997

There’s something very sick about giving mass murderers nicknames.

And now back to aimlessly speculating about unlikely signings.

He gave himself the nickname by signing off his gloating sick letters BDK.

Then there’s also something very sick about going along with mass murderers’ self-assigned nicknames.

Not to bang on the old player drum but if Wednesday are after him, would we also be interested?

Really pleased to have finally caught up on this thread, can’t say there’s no been a lot of rumours, which I suppose is a good thing.

I guess we are going to be at the back of the queue, if we have a sensible, but limited budget.

Still think our attack needs strengthening, creating chances, and finishing them.

Hope it gets moving again, when the players get back from Maribor.

I do think we are a bit stronger than than last season,as the players will be a bit more clued up with what’s going on.

We won’t have the momentum of promotion this year, to get off to a good start, so it could be interesting if we have a slow start.

I wonder if Rich Cawley has some transfer stories lined up for us?

I would think after the way he left that coming back is probably not high on his agenda. Yes its different people behind the scenes but given everything that happened there's a good chance he'd prefer a new challenge.

I’d love him back. Surely he wouldn’t drop to League One at this stage of his career.
