Dykes was an upgrade from Leaburn that’s why Jones brought him to the club.7

Dykes was more experienced than Leaburn, and did a job, that's why Miles is still hereBerkshire1970 said:Dykes was an upgrade from Leaburn that’s why Jones brought him to the club.
and Dykes is'nt.9 -
cblock said: Dykes isn’t at the club because he has better offers. Leaburn remains because he’s under contract and we are his best option

cblock said:Any one know the latest score from our friendly (-: Not a great point! We made an offer for Dykes and had he signed Leaburn would have got very little game time.

If it wasn’t obvious Mitchell being on the bench rather than one of the two 11’s playing today shows he’s off4

Fair enough, we will leave it there.
Please use the quote button properly as I have not said that.0 -

Fair enough, we will leave it there.Wonder if they will get that kid from Spurs on loan to Oxford last season. I think he scored 11 in a relegation team. Think he’s highly rated.cblock said:Berkshire1970 said:cblock said:Ok got it , you don't like Leaburn. I don’t think he’s championship standard no.

Scored an og at The Valley. We lost 3-4 though.cabbles said:I feel it’s only right I try to add to this threadPaul Parker was a key defender for Manchester United between 1991 and 1996, making 105 appearances. Sir Alex Ferguson famously dubbed him one of his best signings, and he was highly praised by teammates for his tenacious playing style. [1, 2, 3, 4]Here are some of the most notable facts about his time at Old Trafford and his career:- Key Achievements: During his tenure, Parker helped Manchester United win two Premier League titles (1992–93, 1993–94), the FA Cup (1994), and the League Cup (1992). [1, 2]
- The Transfer: He signed from Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in August 1991 for a fee of £2 million. [1]
- The Famous Nickname: Former England manager Bobby Robson famously described Parker’s energetic playstyle at the 1990 World Cup with the quote: "He leaps like a salmon and tackles like a ferret." [1, 2]
- Rare Goalscorer: A naturally defensive full-back, Parker scored just two goals during his entire Manchester United career. One memorable goal came in the 1992-93 season against Tottenham Hotspur, a special moment for him as he supported the London club as a boy. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- England International: Before and during his early United years, he earned 19 caps for England and was a crucial starter in the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. [1, 2, 3]

Completely forgot about Dykes, tells you everything you need to know.0

Cam Devlin released by Hearts, very steady defensive midfielder. Worth a look and plenty of experience.2

Isaac Tshipamba.0

I think Hearts ‘catty’ suggests he’s about to sign up elsewhere and wouldn’t be shocked to see him join his old boss.Addickinedi said:Cam Devlin released by Hearts, very steady defensive midfielder. Worth a look and plenty of experience.0 -

Coady had a massive influence for sure & I believe he was a major factor in us avoiding relegation. Playing the way we were Dykes was exactly what we needed, putting himself about, making himself available, giving centre backs a hard time all game. Who else in our squad do you think could have competed in the way that Dykes did ? I don't want to see him back in our squad as I hope that we can sign better but like Coady he stepped up, brought experience to the front line & gave us an outlet that we wouldn't otherwise have had.wmcf123 said:
No thanks . Unlike Coady, he didn’t improve us. Waste of wagesPaddyP17 said:I was immensely surprised to find myself liking Lyndon Dykes, but there's no denying he is a limited footballer by Championship standards. Worked extremely hard and kept us up, doing exactly what was asked of him, but he has never been prolific and money is probably better spent elsewhere if we want to progress from route one football and evolve the dimensions in which we can attack.
Of course, big, hard-working, aerially competent, prolific and technically competent is a "choose three of these five" type scenario for most teams, and gamble on developing one of them, and it's always expensive.4 -

He was part of the January window incomings, without him and the others I think we would have gone down.

I’d imagine we couldn’t afford Dykes’s wage demands, that’s why he’s gone elsewhere. All these people saying we can do better, but with what money if we can’t afford Dykes.3
-
That's a massive assumption. I think it's much more likely we just didn't want two 30+ strikers and when Godden signed we decided to move on from DykesSouthLincsAddick said:I’d imagine we couldn’t afford Dykes’s wage demands, that’s why he’s gone elsewhere. He was offered a deal but as chosen to look elsewhere. Time to implement Plan BSouthLincsAddick said:I’d imagine we couldn’t afford Dykes’s wage demands, that’s why he’s gone elsewhere. All these people saying we can do better, but with what money if we can’t afford Dykes.3 -
Possibly but that is also an assumption.fenaddick said:

The club confirmed they had offered Dykes a contract.

I think Dykes is being underestimated on here. He created as well as scored (WBA) vital goals. I would’ve liked to see us sign him, as well as a younger pacey striker.18
-
100% this. His goals and involvement helped keep us up. The club offered him a contract so it's likely he wants more money somewhere else. I really hope we will buy better but I'm not that confident.Valley11 said:I think Dykes is being underestimated on here. He created as well as scored (WBA) vital goals. I think with Dykes it ultimately depends on what we want from a replacement? Are we looking for a starter that we are willing to spend a good chunk of money on to pair with Kelman in a 352 , or another experienced head that knows the league and would free/lower fee allowing us to spend more on CMs and RWB.0
-
Dykes might only have been a squad rotation option and maybe only offered a contract to reflect that. Easy for him to decline and enough for the club to say offer made.

We were never going to keep Godden, Dykes and sign one more striker. That'd leave us with 9 strikers...Valley11 said:I think Dykes is being underestimated on here. He created as well as scored (WBA) vital goals. I would’ve liked to see us sign him, as well as a younger pacey striker.
