RIP Sam Neill

Shocked by the news this morning. One of my favorite actors and a big part of my childhood.

He recently beat cancer which makes this even sadder.

RIP Sam and thanks for the memories.

So very sad to hear... Just saw something on Instagram, and my initial thought and hope was that it was typically fake news

Lots of famous and semi famous deaths over the past couple of weeks, but this one hurts. Big loss to the world. Might have to watch Event Horizon again just to appreciate his full range. Rest in Peace, Sam.

Gutted. A wonderful actor and even better man.
I hadn’t realised he’d screen tested for Bond, think they missed a trick there.
Rest in eternal peace with all your animals ❤️

An excellent actor with a much better range than he got credit for.

Yes, recently announced he was cancer free after a new type of treatment. Terrible he should pass away after beating that so recently.

It's funny, I only rewatched that at the weekend, as I'm sorting through my DVD's at the moment .  Really enjoyed it, and am now going to lend it to my Dad.
First thing I remember seeing Sam Neill in was Omen 3 - not the greatest film but he was very charismatic in it, and he was great in Dead Calm and The Hunt For Red October. He's another one of those actors who's always worth watching, even if the film itself isn't great (I'm looking at you The Portable Door), and seemed like a lovely bloke.
    RIP  Sam

They played a clip of him on R5 today, receiving the first copies of his autobiography. He sounded absolutely overjoyed that he'd written an actual book and to his huge surprise the publishers liked it enough to publish it. You could hear the joy in his voice. I liked him before but even more after hearing that.

He could do it all. The range and perfection of just Jurassic Park, Peaky Blinders, and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, is astonishing talent, before thinking of so many other wonderful characters he portrayed.

It was only after seeing him in Peaky Blinders, that I found out he was from Northern Ireland originally.
I had always assumed he was an Aussie or a Kiwi.
Amazingly capable actor that could pretty much do anything he cared to.
Heard that he turned down a knighthood as he didn't see himself as grand enough to receive one.
Rest in Peace Sir Sam Neill.

One of my all-time favourite New Zealanders.

A thoroughly decent man who treated everyone on film set as as equals.  And the staff looking after his farm/vineyard loved him just as he loved his animals.  He had names for many of them.  One of his chickens for example was Nicole Kidman.  He took Nicole under his wing filming Dead Calm and they remained lifelong friends.

    RIP Sir Sam
