You take Messi out of this team, and it is very ordinary. The 3 best squads going into this tournament were Spain, Portugal and us, only two remain. If play our best,  and Argentina don't get any dodgy decisions, we will win. They can't match us.

none of them that play in England play for the very top tier except maybe macallister and his legs have gone

I wasn’t nervous at 2025 play off final and I’m  not nervous tonight, I’ve had a feeling it will be Spain v England final since QTR finals.
Hope the match isn’t over shadowed by controversy and dodgy decisions…may the best team win….England !
Cooking steaks tonight to get in mood for the big match…
If we do win tonight one thing guaranteed is mayhem in the pubs and out on the streets at full time.

For me, macallister is one of the problems that the new Liverpool manager will need to sort out - fernandez ain't bad but our midfield and strikers play for tier 1 teams whether in England, Germany or Spain - it's not the be all and end all but its a good indicator - like Mexico, take the noise and partizan atmosphere - and the war/ cheating skills /messi out of it and our 11 are better than theirs. It's a knockout game of football so anything can happen but barring another injustice (they follow us around at world cups), i think we have enough to do this. Not comfortably, far from it !!

Has any player ever scored three back to back braces in a Worldcup? I read that the last player to get back to back is Maradona. Could Jude be the first to do it three games in a row?

Sorry, but I think France might have a thing or two to say about that...
Incredibly overrated side. We outplayed them in 2022 and were unfortunate to lose.

Their midfield has been very ordinary since Pogba and Kante have been past it.

Mbappe, Olise and Dembele are all world class, and the best forwards on paper. Spain showed their weaknesses though, and it's everywhere except up top.

The best midfields in world football is us, Spain and Portugal. No one else comes close imo.

Morgan Rogers in for Madueke - suggests Saka can't do a full game or is injured - not unhappy that madueke doesn't start and Rogers does - Madueke too all or nothing for me - hard to control a game with a speedboat with no driver on your side.

Madueke was by far our worst player against Norway.
He can have no complaints for being dropped.

Is it too early to have a Budweiser ?
Like watching Charlton Athletic, watching England is usually easier with alcohol.
Got 10am Doctor appointment tomorrow so don't want to overdo things............

Madueke was awful vs Norway so think this is a good decision and gives us a fresh Saka later on

Yeah - we also need to think about who our 'game changers' are if we need them. Saka seems better coming on against a tiring defence.

We have options in Saka, Rashford, even Big Dan Burn - who can come on an make an impact if we need them.

Multiple outlets reporting a three of Gordon, Bellingham and Rogers behind Kane. Rice to start in midfield and Konsa at right back again.

I agree with this, but you didn't say midfield, you said squad and if you were to do a blended squad of France and Spain, France and England, or France and Portugal, there'd be plenty of French players in all three so you have to conclude their squad depth is up there with the others. But, yes, they have weaknesses, that Spain exposed, and I agree that a lot of people's opinions were skewed by how well they played in what were, let's face it, fairly easy games on the run to semis.

I had Spain picked out as the TEAM to beat from before the tournament and I thought they'd win yesterday despite how well France played up to then. Team's win things, not individuals and Spain are both full of quality and look such a cohesive unit. I just don't know how anyone will be able to disrupt the control they have over most games.

    I don’t mind Rogers starting.

Madueke just isn’t good enough for this squad. I’m sure it’ll be his last tournament with any meaningful minutes.

Rogers gives us decent threat from distance and can whip a good cross. He also seems to have good chemistry with Bellingham.

Allows a fresh Saka for the last 30 minutes too.

I see the Argie foreign minister has started the taunts that they are coming for the Falklands. FFS just shut your piehole and see if your players can play a fair game of football for once.

People say football and politics shouldnt mix but they are the ones doing it!
It's achieving it's target and rattling people though
    How?

Their idiotic military junta invaded some islands that have absolutely nothing to do with them, all for posturing.

They got a bloody nose from the experience and haven't stopped whining about it since.

Besides. What's rattled mean in this context? Little Josh on the internet is rattled so England players will play badly? What!??
He's just trying to wind people up and stir up a conflict. I've heard more about the Falklands in the last 5 days than I had in my whole life before!
But you can't wind up the country that actually won that conflict and who would win it again.

He's winding himself up, like a coked up idiot shouting at a smirking bouncer.
Very off topic, but we'd have zero chance of recapturing them with our depleted armed forces now.

    Anyway, back to the football...

Added to the fact Palmer is apparently looking sharp in pre season and fully fit again. Positive that he will be back in the mix for the three behind Kane for the Euros in 2 years. Kane for the Euros in 2 years? Probably - he doesnt rely on pace and has never really had any anyway.
