That’ll be good if we can as they’re spending a few quid and the ones getting Pepple from Plymouth apparently. Mousinho was made promises to keep him there so if we end up above them I think we’ll be doing ok.ThomasOliver3 said:
Superb when at Aldershot, has risen to every level he's played.mart77 said:Bristol City signing Tolaj from Plymouth, who was a player I know a few on here fancied for us
Related note I watched Shots beat Pompey yesterday - Pompey were awful, so I predict we will at least finish above them.0 -
Carrying on from Tolaj, I watched Bim Pepple a couple of years ago at Southend and couldn’t believe how poor he was that day. Must have had a massive glow-up because he resembled a Sainsbury’s trolley (his legs seemingly couldn’t go in the same direction much like a supermarket trolley)1

The transfer fees seem to have really gone through the roof this summer.
£9m for Dobbin to Southampton is nuts.

I was born in Lewisham Hospital. Apparently my parents had to decide if I was going to be a spanner or a 'addick. The Hospital did tests and found out I had 1 brain~cell.........9

I don’t think NJ’s “project” will not be such an easy sell this season.Last season players joining us from league 1 naturally would have been impressed but those more experienced championship upgrades that we’re hoping for this season, will no doubt have heard it all before.4

I think bagging goals and assists in the Champ and his age mean that’s not too bad in the current market. It’s shocking in that the whole market seems to be broken. You can see why the foreign market is so desirable for many clubs.Valley11 said:The transfer fees seem to have really gone through the roof this summer.

Enough time has also passed where the player would have little to no memory of us in the premier league and so wouldn’t see us as a fallen “giant” but rather a championship-ish club that’s spent a few years in league one.sillav nitram said:I don’t think NJ’s “project” will be such an easy sell this season.Last season players joining us from league 1 naturally would have been impressed but those more experienced championship upgrades that we’re hoping for this season, will no doubt have heard it all before.3 -
Dykes being a free agent does not mean we should not spend on someone who is better than him.MartinCAFC said:
So for £5-£6m that’s another one that we’ve not missed out on then while Dykes remains an option.mart77 said:Bristol City signing Tolaj from Plymouth, who was a player I know a few on here fancied for usYou can’t tell me you would be happy if Lyndon Dykes is signed to replace Lyndon Dykes0 -
Have to admit I’m starting to get to the point where I am about to enter the bed wetting camp with the lack of rumours or signings. It must be getting bad, as I’ve always been against bed wetting behaviour too.3

Worse than that. 11 out of the last 17 seasons have been spent in League One.Diebythesword said:

You’re having a laugh if you think players cared about that anyway. Unless your name is Real Madrid or Barcelona they couldn’t give 2 shits on who was paying themDiebythesword said:

I reckon we will sign two tomorrow.1

I would be golfie-style ecstatic if we managed to replace Dykes with a proven goalscorer in The Championship within our budget. I would probably be delighted if we could find a goalscorer from the top flight of a major European league within our budget.AberystwythAddick said:

Trouble is demand is high and supply is short. Jones has offered Dykes a contract so if it means replacing Dykes with Dykes and then one of Leaburn or Mbick goes out on loan then so be it. I would rather we splash the cash in other areas of the team. Wouldn't be perfect no, but neither would it be the worst thing in the world.4 -
Adebayo is the name I keep going back to for this, did it before under Jones and is still only 28, bigger physically than Dykes and at his peak was good enough to score regularly in the Prem. Having been released by a League 1 side you can't imagine his wage demands can be too crazy right now, main issue is fitness but again a club like ours needs gamble on getting in a player like that and hoping it's in his history and not his futureMartinCAFC said:

I reckon the Doc gossip is being engineered by his agent for one last 2/3yr contract - either from us extending his or gets a move elsewhere. Personally I’d offer him an extension as he came to the fore at the end of last season for us.5
-
I could see Cov going before Doc but I think both will stay. I think NJ will see the likes of JRC and Anderson depart before the aforementioned guys.1

JRC is one I'm really on the fence with. I doubt he's happy with his minutes and I could see him go.mart77 said:I could see Cov going before Doc but I think both will stay. I think NJ will see the likes of JRC and Anderson depart before the aforementioned guys.
Think as soon as we get one CM in , Anderson will go to Blackpool.0 -
Tick tock. We currently can't put out a first 11 that is anywhere near as good as the one that narrowly avoided relegation at the end of last season. Coady, Clarke and Dykes have gone and not yet been replaced. They had better get a move on.1

Jonesy may have seen enough to think mwamba gough start in the middle so dont need anyone? 🤭0

We'll be offering more money this year which will help.sillav nitram said:I don’t think NJ’s “project” will not be such an easy sell this season.Last season players joining us from league 1 naturally would have been impressed but those more experienced championship upgrades that we’re hoping for this season, will no doubt have heard it all before.1 -

Ramsay Jones Bell Mesík
Knibbs Coventry
Leaburn Carey Campbell
Kelman
I'd argue isn't any worse than
Kaminski
Burke Jones Gillesphey
Fevrier Clarke Coady Coventry Chambers
Knibbs
Dykes
Which is the team we put out against Swansea...0 -
Leaburn on the wing and Knibbs next to Coventry! That’s definitely worsesam3110 said:

Kaminski
Ramsay Jones Bell
Apter Docherty Coventry Mesik
Carey
Kelman Campbell
Which is pretty much the exact team we started last season with against Watford3 -
It's been glaringly obvious we've needed better in midfield and up top for the past 7 months so I'm hoping it's being addressed behind the scenes. Without that we are really going to struggle this season0

I’ve not been following all the updates/rumours, but does anyone know what is happening with Lloyd Jones?
Will he stay?0
