Are people genuinely being serious in writing off players during friendlies and saying we will get relegated because we just beat Gillingham 1-0 in a friendly.Â5

I remember when we beat Arsenal in a preseason friendly and we didn’t go on and win the Champions League that season.TD_Addick said:Are people genuinely being serious in writing off players during friendlies and saying we will get relegated because we just beat Gillingham 1-0 in a friendly.Â6 -
We need serious improvement having watched that shite….yes I k ow its pre season, but we are so slow and pedestrian.bolloxbolder said:We are in trouble is my assessment after watching that dirge.
TC on the 2nd half over our side had so much time and space but at no point did he look even the slightest bit interested. His body language and general lack of interest is infuriating - too slow to get back and too slow to help when attackingÂ9 -
Funnily enough your review of TC was virtually the opposite of Steve Brown’s who singled out his workrate running back when we were defending a counter before legging it forward on the attackÂElthamaddick said:

TC literally sprinted 70 yards back to defend, and then 70 yards forward to lead a counter attack which he had a shot from!Elthamaddick said:

He looked knackered, as did a lot of them from the last 30 team. Mwamba was lying on the floor knackered at the end after only playing half an hourÂElthamaddick said:

Very clear that they had either done a huge session that morning or yesterday and that 30 minutes was to really push them. No criticism needed really unless he’s still doing that in August when fully freshÂ2 -

Don't hold your breath about any of the kids coming through to save the day. The u21's looked awful against Folkestone Invicta and deservedly lost 2-0. Not a single one of them looked anywhere near ready for the first team.1

It was always too little too late and reactive and not proactiveÂfenaddick said:

what’s the point in a massive training session on the morning of the game if the players are then too fucked to playÂ0 -

Because the ones that are half decent are already around the first team, like Fullah, Mwamba, Enslin and Gough. Anderson and Asiimwe too are still "under 21" players, I'd imagine a team with those 6 in it are a very different prospectÂSantaClaus said:Don't hold your breath about any of the kids coming through to save the day. Pre-season is all about pushing the players to their limits. There will be moments this season when players are fucked but they have to push through it, that’s what pre-season is forÂElthamaddick said:

The ones that played the last 30 all looked pretty knackered, so i think they probably did either yesterday or this morning. 30 minute run out isn’t enough for them when they need to be doing a lot at this stage of preseasonÂmart77 said:Elthamaddick said:

Because it gets them used to playing when tired, it shows who has the character to turn up and keep trying and lets the managers try out any tactical or formation ideas they have, all with the added bonus of the score at the end being completely meaningless.Elthamaddick said:

TC derangement syndrome (TCDS) showing early doors. At one point TC ran back to our 6 yard box to defend and one minute later was up the other end firing just wide. No other player does this.Elthamaddick said:

TCDS once caught never goes, apparently.9 -
TC was blitzing a run towards the ball at one point, which I thought he had no chance of reaching, while some guy to my right was yelling at him for being lazy. The abuse continued when TC got the ball against all odds.Southbank said:

I have no idea why he gets so much stick off of delusional fans. The only players I've seen get it worse are Morgan Fox and Simon Makienok.

Thanks to all the posters who start with "We need" and "I think".
Makes the scrolling through so much quicker. (Which really helps given so many pages of total tosh).Â3 -
I can’t understand the fans who say TC is low effort.  That’s absolutely is not the case - he absolutely puts in the effort.  Now he is a horrible finisher and pretty one dimensional so maybe they are conflating his technical flaws with effort but you should always support the player on match day as long as they are giving the effort5

Ok I’ll bite - didn’t realise you were Pep, apologies, obviously not disputing the fitness element but how often do they have a big training session the morning of a league match?TheHerminator said:

Friendlies are for working on fitness and team shape / formations etc….not let’s totally knacker them out then send them out and see how they perform 🤷‍♂️2 -
Exactly, so the lads that were only playing 30 minutes needed more work so obviously will have had a session either yesterday morning or Friday so that they still get enough work in this week. It was obvious to anyone watching that they looked knackered, so either they are not fit enough to play 30 minutes? Or you are wrong and they probably did a session before the game or the day before? I know which one seems more likelyÂElthamaddick said:

Friendlies are for working on fitness and team shape / formations etc….not let’s totally knacker them out then send them out and see how they perform 🤷‍♂️I speak from experience as I played semi pro for 15 years. The first 2-3 friendlies always involved a heavy session in the morning before a 3pm kick off.ÂThey were all about getting strength and fitness in the legs, as well as the coaches watching how we played when extremely fatigued.Â2 -
