I don’t but then I haven’t watched the interview with Wellens because I find him deeply irritatingPaddyP17 said:
Indeed it was (lol well might make it slightly easier to figure out who my mate is). Do we know why though? Still curious that.fenaddick said:
This was Dom Ballard, Richie Wellens confirmed it over the weekend. They moved on to Tolaj from PlymouthPaddyP17 said:Was playing cricket for Old Colfeians today. Had a good chat with a footballer who lives local, who mentioned he and Karlan have been at the David Lloyd in Kidbrooke at the same time a few times recently. Was keen to stress that he knows KAG lives down the road so don't read loads into it - and I couldn't draw much from him on if he knew if there was any movement. But this guy's usually relatively tight lipped and our chat make me think it could well be happening/has already happened.
I also found out that Bristol City have not signed their top striker target (based in England), who is very unhappy it didn't go through (not sure why it fell through), and we don't think they're going back in for him yet.0 -
As in Ricardo?Todds_right_hook said:
Sounds more like Redmond - hasn’t he got a fuller beard?superdulvertonred said:Just spoken to my grandson again and showed him some photos of Karlan Grant and now saying it could be him but with a much fuller beard than he has in pictures on the internet
Nothing more concrete I am afraid1 -
Wow, is that a fair comparison? I can assume innocence as the charges were dropped!!! I feel sorry for the defendant if you are on their jury!fenaddick said:
They were but so were all the charges against Mason Greenwood and the whole internet saw the evidence there. You can't assume guilt but you can't really assume innocence either as those charges are very hard to prove.sam3110 said:Anyway all the charges against KG were dropped weren't they?
i remember reading at the time that the girl
consented but she was young (18 I think) and on holiday with her family, her dad instigated it as he didn’t like that his young daughter had a night of passion with two pro footballers.4 -
Just putting it out there that I noticed he was in the area a few weeks ago.... Not ITK just pure speculation of course!kidbrookeaddick said:Obviously putting 2 +2 together and getting f*+k all but Karlan Grant was in Beckenham this afternoon, so fairly local. Probably just visiting friends/family.6 -

On reflection Karlan Grant would be a decent signing. He’s had issues with our fans since he left but hopefully that can be put in the past and NJ can get him motivated. He’s bags of Championship experience and only 28 so on a ‘free’ it’s a decent signing. Just hope he’s been keeping himself fit because if Charlie is out for up to two months we are going to need him.3
-
surely if he had a problem related to us he wouldnt even consider the move?, he isn’t being forced to sign is he?. Think it’s a gamble on our part as the returning player doesn’t generally pan out great for us, except a couple of instances a long time ago.Braziliance said:
I was about to ask you who on earth is a 15 million pound player, checked, and I cannot believe West Brom paid 14 million quid for him. That is outrageous.redbuttle said:
We shouldn't be turning our noses up at players that cost 15 mill and also have to bear in mind that West Brom offered him a new contract.Braziliance said:Not sure about Karlan Grant, left on pretty bad terms and whenever we have played him since you can tell there's a bit of animosity there.
Didn't work when Bonne came back. Grant is of course a better player by a mile, but still.
I have him in the same camp as Bonne, Lyle and Roger Johnson.
Either way, he isn't that price now, and you could apply the same logic to Redmond who has moved for a similar fee, and been worth twice as much at some stages of his career.
It's not the ability I am concerned about with Grant, I think he's a much better signing on paper than Dykes for instance. It's his attitude towards us and in general I am concerned about.
Let's see if he signs first anyway
Edit: to be clear, I am not just blaming Karlan. I heard some of our fans chant at him "she said no" etc.
Just don't think there is any coming back from that, but we will see

Sounded like a fee/money issue to me. I think Orient will find it hard to keep him and could actually see a deal being done, as Ballard really wants to leave according to reportsPaddyP17 said:

I was not comparing the two allegations, merely pointing out the allegations about crimes related to sex and/or relationships are notoriously hard to prove and that a lack of conviction doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. It also doesn’t mean it did happen. He of course should be treated by law as if he is innocentTodds_right_hook said:

With respect does this thread have to turn into a did he, didn’t he discussion? The guy is potentially coming to play football for us having not been found guilty of anything.17

It’s the sort of signing we should be making, championship experience, better than what we could afford because of the free transfer. Provides something different and alleviates pressure in TC.On paper this is a welcome one13

Yes, I meant facially and hair style, so couldn't understand how Grant could be recognized from a recent photo but not from previous, when he pretty much looks the same to me.NabySarr said:
He’s a bit stockier now, stronger but not quite as quick. Still quick enough though, just he was rapid for us when he was younger but needed to get stronger for PL/Champ levelCovered End said:
Strangely, I think Grant has hardly changed since he left Charlton (just a bit older).superdulvertonred said:My grandson has now been shown a recent photo of Karlan Grant and says it his him which is not surprising given Nathan Jones post match comments0 -
Karlan grant just got called a fantastic signing on here.
Jesus Christ2 -
We don’t know if he has signed, so at the moment he is potentially coming, a bit pedantic from you I’d suggest.LargeAddick said:

Yeah the beard doesn't change his face that much0 -
Anyone know what pub this is? 😂

Grant would be a good signing, played a lot of his football at this level and brings us something our squad currently doesn’t have.
Got to say though if we end up signing Dykes I’ll be incredibly disappointed. It would mean the same strike force we had at the end of last season and I think the term strike force is very generous to say to least.13 -
I was wondering when someone would bring up Grant missing a penalty right before he moved as if he did it on purpose. It was hilarious nonsense in 2018 and it’s just as funny now9

Coach and Horses in Beckenham looks similar in parts2

“We’re in a decent place (with transfers). We’d said it was a patient window. We’ve got the nucleus of a really good squad. What we need to add is a little more flair, zest, quality and one—v-one….top-end stuff.“We feel we are getting there, we’re close with a few."
Some Welsh bloke speaking to Rich Cawley. Well worth subscribing to read the whole thing.
Main point for me is NJ is, yet again, saying we need more quality and flair yet some posters will keep on saying "we need more quality and flair" as if Jones doesn't think that.33 -

Sounds like Clark KentGarrymanilow said:He’s an incredibly hard working presser and has done well at Charlton before. People who have been concerned about the amount we rely on TC should be over the moon at us bringing in a decent alternative to him0 -

Karlan Grant, is he better than what we have ? Is he what we need ? And probably, could we get someone else with his talent and experience with no transfer fee involved ? I have to say when I first heard the story I wasn't sure, but looking at the above list it starts to make sense. One other thing that should be taken into account, although Grants wage would be a good deal higher than our current wage ceiling, the lack of a transfer fee may allow us a little more scope when looking at other targets to add to the squad.4

Which they filmed on their phones (or at least 1 of them did). Something all of us have done of course.Todds_right_hook said:

He hasn't been found non guilty as there was no trial. Charges were dropped 4 years after the incident.Sword65pf said:With respect does this thread have to turn into a did he, didn’t he discussion? The guy is potentially coming to play football for us having not been found guilty of anything.3 -
Let's drop it like the charges eh?
Anyway someone approximated it to the Greenwood situation which is absolutely completely different as they dropped the charges themselves based on her family basically telling her to shut up and continue to take his money, and he was an abusive, woman beating see you next Tuesday4
