Not saying he's the solution, but as a backup, could Redmond be used in the middle of the park? Technically very good, and can pick a pass out. Just probably lost the pace to be a winger now.
No chance. A Nathan Jones no 10
needs a hell of an engine and positional discipline
No I agree with that, I was thinking more of an 8 in the middle to sit between a Cov/Doc and Carey/Knibbs.
    Cov/Doc Carey/Knibbs is a relegation midfield

If Kelman is out for the start of the season then I actually think Kanu would be the most like for like option to replace him, and therefore probably start wouldn’t he?
I think he’d be behind Leaburn, Godden and now Grant in the pecking order to be the main striker. Decent chance we keep Kanu around a bit longer though now Kelman is injured
Grant will not be the main striker. I doubt Godden can manage much of a game. Without Kelman we are very light up front. If Dykes or another come in then Kanu may go, if not I doubt it.
Grant won’t be but I think he’d play there before Kanu if the other options were unavailable

Godden started a couple of games last season, again I think he’d be picked there before Kanu would be

    Quite slowly
    And not with the ball

I can't magic up players, I am just chewing over where Redmond could be used with what we have. Yes, ideally we have some new midfielders but until we know who they are then I am wondering if Trialist will turn into a contracted player.

Let Doc do the running and Redmond can do the passing 😁
Or we could just sign a centre mid instead of shoehorning a washed up winger there

Not a chance. If we do end up signing him which is a big if. It will be a short term deal, like the washed up Hernandez last season.

Wish we would move on from Redmond, can’t see us going for him whatsoever.

Captain Obvious. Redmond on trial, discussing how he might be used if he signs but let's just skip to your point.

Pretty confident of you, for a player that's travelled to Slovenia and played in the three friendlies so far. I'd say we're seriously considering him. So he will stay in the conversation until he gets another club or signed by us...

To be fair Bennett and Lembikisa played a fair amount last year and Teddy Bishop went to Slovenia the year before. None of them signed. I think we probably do sign Redmond but sometimes a trialist is just about seeing how that type of player might fit your system

Didn’t realise we got relegated last season, real shame that
Last season we had Coady come in at a crucial moment to provide defensive nous and leadership - without him there's a very good chance that we do go down.
We definitely need improvements. Our midfield is not good enough.

He's not coming for anything other than to earn a contract. Those guys obviously didn't do enough and Redmond might fall into that, just a thought 😒

Rich Cawley reporting we’ve turned down bids for Kanu and we’ll either keep him or sell him
    Weird one with Kanu.

If we were being linked with him after the season he's had, young player of the season, 15 goals, being only 21 and if you look at the quality of some of the goals, I think we would be quite excited.

I think it would be a mistake to let him go. These strikers like Kanu, Mbick, Kelman and Leaburn could be the real deal if we work on our actual footballng ability in the middle.

You look at all of their goals they've scored and the technique is there, just not the opportunities to get the goals.

I think we should be signing him on a long term contract and putting every penny into right back and midfield.

Godden, Kelman, Kanu, Grant, Campbell, Miles and Mbick are very decent forward options at this level. They just need the service imo.
Fans naturally get attached to academy players but the bottom line is, he isn’t good enough, just like Anderson and Assimwe for the level we are at now.

Sell with a sell on clause is the best option for all parties

If we sign him, we probably won’t play him in a position he’s never ever played in before and one which he is completely unsuitable for.

He's now unsuitable for the position he has played for his career. We used Coady in midfield, hardly a stretch to discuss.

Nathan Redmond has never been a centre midfielder. Connor Coady started out as a centre midfielder before dropping back to centre back because he can barely move.

I did say the 'right deal' Large. The club took the option of a year, that protects the club but also gives Godden security whilst he looks beyond leaving Charlton at the end of next season. If someone came in and offered him a two year deal in division one then he would probably be wise to take it, in that division he would be very useful and see out that two year deal, he won't get that long in the championship. It's a big maybe, but it's happened before.

Redmond in CM, I can’t believe how many comments this is getting. Actually ridiculous thinking he could play in the 8 role, should try Leaburn at CB at this rate.

Clearly with 4 more hopefully coming in 2 of them will be midfielders. Which we will spend money on. Not a bloody washed up 32 year old on trial 😂😂😂

Well we know he's played attacking midfield. Do you think at 32, with his experience he couldn't?
Redmond in CM, I can’t believe how many comments this is getting. Actually ridiculous thinking he could play in the 8 role, should try Leaburn at CB at this rate.

Clearly with 4 more hopefully coming in 2 of them will be midfielders. Which we will spend money on. Not a bloody washed up 32 year old on trial 😂😂😂
I'm simply dying on this hill 😆

Not saying he's the solution, but as a backup, could Redmond be used in the middle of the park? Technically very good, and can pick a pass out. Just probably lost the pace to be a winger now.
No chance. A Nathan Jones no 10
needs a hell of an engine and positional discipline
No I agree with that, I was thinking more of an 8 in the middle to sit between a Cov/Doc and Carey/Knibbs.
That player usually is Doc, have you seen how much he runs?
Let Doc do the running and Redmond can do the passing 😁
Or we could just sign a centre mid instead of shoehorning a washed up winger there
Captain Obvious. Redmond on trial, discussing how he might be used if he signs but let's just skip to your point.
If we sign him, we probably won’t play him in a position he’s never ever played in before and one which he is completely unsuitable for.
He's now unsuitable for the position he has played for his career. We used Coady in midfield, hardly a stretch to discuss.
Coady had played in midfield before though, has Redmond?
