Sad, sad news.
One of my heroes when I was a young man and a great player.
I was working at a dinner where KK was the guest speaker. He had some great stories and had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand. Took him ages to leave the venue because he stopped and chatted with everyone who wanted a word with him or a selfie. A true gentleman.

They beat us 3 1 that day and was a massive result for their promotion chances. I remember speaking to my Grandad after the game and telling him that although we lost I was kind of pleased as they were such a great team (including Waddle, Beardsley, McDermott) and deserved to go up.Ferryman said:A real thrill to see his last London performance at The Valley, his enthusiasm even that late in his career stood out. Slated as a moaner by Mark Aizlewood after the game. Keegan's response, 'who's Aizlewood, was he playing?'
Had the pleasure of meeting him at a Back to The Valley dinner when Les Reed was in the England set-up. Lovely guy his charisma shone through and very down to earth RIP.0 -
In 1973 my sister worked as a hairdresser for Michael John in Mayfair. I had a perm at least a year before any footballer.0

A real gentleman,never forget when he played for Southampton at Highbury,I took my kids ,they wanted his autograph ,I said no chance but we will try.When the players came out after the game,he got in the coach drivers seat,had all the autograph hunters line up and signed every book or programme.I still have this programme .Loved his partnership with Toshack,and will remember him for his totally fearless and 100 percent every game attitude.RIP wish we had his like now.7

Had no idea until today that he won two Ballon D'ors and was also runner up as well.
That has to put him up there as one of England's greatest ever players, yet i've never heard his name mentioned as part of this.
Still remember his Newcastle team, and his rant when he lost it Ferguson.

He dragged me up and plonked me on the front seat next to the driver to stop me getting trampled as a little 6 yr old. I was at the front and everyone piled forward when the coach doors opened. Sat there eating the driver's sweets until Kevin had signed all his autographs, then signed my autograph book with a little personal message. Was in absolute awe of him. Loved his passion and determination as a player, manager and person - it oozed out of him but always with a smile on his face (apart from 'that' post match interview!)DaveMehmet said:Ah man, that's awful. That's choked me. The greatest player of his generation and one of the all time greats.There are so many people today who fell in love with football because of KK.Rest in eternal peace, Kevin.2

I remember him playing Newcastle at the Valley.
I saw him signing autographs from the team coach.
I believe the match was drawn, this was a time when we were in financial trouble.0 -
Became as big as the game itself from very humble beginnings at Scunthorpe. A Liverpool icon and worshipped by Newcastle fans as both a player and a manager.

Childhood hero for most of us born early 70’s and following football, always remember his look back as manager of England from the tunnel at the old Wembley stadium in it’s last game before closure after we lost 0-1 to Germany in 2000, it was peeing down all game, and you knew it held so many memories for him, resigned shortly after I seem to remember RIP King Kev0

Very sad to hear. Went to many England games at Wembley in the late 70's, early 80's when he was our best player and indeed won 2 balon d'ors. Fantastic player. RIP Kevin.0

Absolute legend - I was lucky enough to attend a Newcastle game in the mid 90s through my Dads work when they beat Utd 5-0 at St James Park. They played some thrilling awe inspiring football and I still can’t believe they didn’t win it all. RIP0

Wore his England shirt and managed the country with pride. True patriotic English man. A rare breed hardly found anywhere in this country these days.
