I could understand this if we already had a couple of Championship-quality midfielders in the squad.

    But we haven't!!

    Wonder where he's going
    Would assume Blackpool.

Good luck to Karoy. Has given 100% every single time he has played for us and has a great attitude.  Hope he really pushes on with game time and makes us regret letting him go.

How do you know we don't have anyone lined up? The season starts in 4 weeks, and the next PSF isn't until Saturday, it's not like we're halfway through the season

Good luck Karoy, a player I think will go on to have a decent career

Last season sadly highlighted his weaknesses, and they're not areas of his game I suspect he can significantly improve. And in the Championship we need better than Doc and Coventry, never mind Karoy. Plus Mwamba seems to have that bit extra about his game.

He didn't feature at all on Saturday, so no surprise.

I wish him well, he'll have a good career.

My favourite Karoy moment is the celebrations after his goal at Wycombe away.

I remember being sat at home watching it on my sofa thinking Corr, that looks lively as I then headed to get another beer out of the fridge.

I think he is a good young player with potential to get better, that his progress will not be with us would indicate that there is someone coming in that would be a fixture in midfield, no point in selling someone on the fringes to bring in the same.

Can't wish him anything but the very best.
I hope he goes on to do himself proud.
Thanks Karoy....you will always be one of us and welcome here.

If we kept him, we still wouldnt have Championship quality midfielders.

I’ll always remember his performance against Derby away when he got Jones his first win. He was so aggressive and energetic in that advanced midfield role and it was the first time in a while it felt like we might not go down to L2. I think he’s got a lot of potential but his ability on the ball hasn’t improved as much as I’d hoped and I guess we didn’t fancy another loan. It’s a shame, especially to lose a player who is a proper Charlton boy

Very good off the ball but a bit blinkered when he has it. Has a great tackle on him and will have a great career as a professional, just think we’re better than him now - very rare in the last 20 years to be able to say that!

Best move for his career, wish him all the best. Limited, not a Championship player but always gave 100%.

But @RonnieMoore’s contact said we hadn’t received any bids for anyone apart from Kanu?

No doubt he gave his all for us, unfortunately …at the moment he isn’t at the level needed, he will always be one of ours and his career followed closely no doubt, with every good performance and goal scored someone saying we should have kept him. Good luck karoy, wish you nothing but good in the new journey ahead of you.

Maybe that's why Karoy has deleted his announcement, he saw what the Oracle as Ronnie is known among the CAFC staff had posted and realised he had been mistaken.

Has anyone worked where he’s off to?

At times when we were hanging onto a 1 goal lead with 15 minutes to go and falling further and further back into our half the sight of Karoy coming on brought a sense of calmness to me. He might not have the best touch in the world but he chased and broke up play so well !! Ty Karoy may you go on to have a wonderful career

I love Karoy. He may not be the most technically gifted footballer but his attitude and effort never came under question. A proper example of the type of player we produce as a club, and someone to be proud of.

Sad to see him go. I understand though, and think it’s probably the right move. I hope he kicks on and finds a new club that can maximise his talents.
Well said, that’s exactly how I feel.

I have a feeling he’s going to go on and make the ‘league one at best’ view look very silly in a couple of seasons time.

    Good luck Karoy

Unfortunately I have thought for a long time he would never quite cut it here.

Always a shame when it's a genuinely good human. Extremely polite lad and always been positive when I have spoken to him. I wish it worked out here for him, but a move is definitely right for both parties.

Wish him the very best and will follow his career, hopefully he can improve his game and end up back here in an ideal world.

(Copied and pasted from the transfers thread, thought it made more sense to post here)

I don't know that, and I really hope that's the case. My point was, when we already don't have any champ-quality midfielders so why would you get rid of another of our midfielders - albeit one Jones deigns to be a squad player. Midfield has been our weakness for so many seasons over the last two decades, we need all the help we can get.

With a fair wind I totally agree.
