Quite a few giving up on the season already, couldn’t post the lotto numbers after looking in they’re crystal balls by any chance?10

They offered a similar fee for a striker from, I think, the Netherlands but the player turned them down.AberystwythAddick said:

Our fans are hilarious though, they assume every signing by another club is a world beater, every signing we make is a dud, every player we're linked to is untrue and every player linked to another side is gospelDDOUBLEE said:

We re but Sheffield Wednesday were at a crazy disadvantage. There are now three spots which are realistically being fought over by more teams rather than the two last seasonsouthamptonaddick said:

Not once did I say they would be world beaters or that the signings we've made or going to make are duds.sam3110 said:

It is obviously concerning that the relegation favourites are making multi million pound bids as we will undoubtedly be looking at them as a club we probably need to finish above to stay in this league.
No 'bed wetting', no panic, just an observation and relative to the thread title.9 -

That’s still a relegation fight and a tough one, I’ve not said we’re getting relegated I’ve said we will be in a fight to survive.southamptonaddick said:

July last year I doubt many Hull fans were saying they'd be in the Premier League in 12 months, and similarly I doubt many Leicester fans had them going down.
We have a month to get in more signings and see the lay of the land25 -
Not with our current midfield options. We could survive with two established, talented, midfielders. One in front of the defence, like Coady, and one in front of him who can both run with the ball and pass it accurately. The like of which we have not had for years. If we get those we stand a chance. If not...southamptonaddick said:

What is that based on, apart from blind optimism. Our dynamic goalscoring forwards? Our impressive midfield? Our defence is our strength but you can’t defend your way through 46 games. I really don’t care if I am called a bed wetter. I am just calling it as I see it.southamptonaddick said:

Just cos other clubs transfer news is plastered over social media, doesn’t mean we’re not doing anything. So what if other clubs are making bids, do people really really think we’re not doing the same?15

Let’s worry if and when we don’t sign any more players or we sign crap. Jones wants more. He expects more and we’ll get more. Then there will be a couple of loans. That strategy did us proud last season. Basically let’s wait and see what transpires17

Last season we would have finished much higher if we had some depth on the left side of defence. We now have thatDennisBooth said:

We needed an alternative to TC to reduce his load, we now have that with Grant
We need to upgrade midfield and make additions on the right hand side. We still have over a month to do that
If we do all of these things then we will be better than last season. The league is also stronger, so I think we will end up in a similar position to last season but it's definitely not blind optimism to think we will do better when we've already solved 2 of our problems from last season and I'm sure will be looking at the others over the next month19 -
I feel like there was heavy sentiment in the last couple of transfer rumours threads that we weren’t spending money like our rivals and we weren’t building a ‘promotion chasing’ or ‘relegation survival’ team.
Yet we know how those two seasons panned out.9 -
This is football fans in the modern era. They want lots of signings, lots of money spent and if we don't win for 5 games they want a new managerFishCostaFortune said:I feel like there was heavy sentiment in the last couple of transfer rumours threads that we weren’t spending money like our rivals and we weren’t building a ‘promotion chasing’ or ‘relegation survival’ team.

Hull had no money to spend and were meant to finish 23rd not far ahead of Sheff Wed. They employed an unknown quantity for manager who turned out to be decent. Created a siege mentality and they got promoted.
Still ages to go in the window yet, there's probably some money still to be spent - NJ has said himself we want to make sure we're paying for the right players, not rushing things and doing it on other's timelines.16 -

I am of course referring to Stoke, Preston and Bristol City. Bang average sides that are pure gatekeeper teams in this league (respectfully, I wish we were them) and their spend on one player will probably match our budget this season and in some cases, last seasons.
Of course Boro don't fit that bill, but they're still in the same league as us, and they're spending big sums. Irrespective of if that was funded by player sales.
Bookies have us down as 2nd favourites to go down. On squad strength alone, I am struggling to identify 3 squads worse than ours with the exception of the newly promoted trio, two of which I expect to be almost on par with us before the season starts.
I just think it's going to be an extremely difficult season and 21st would be a hell of an achievement imo with our circumstances. (One of the lowest spending sides in the league with a lot of league 1 players still)
Joint third favs to go down. It goes Lincoln, Bolton and then us and Cardiff equal (Bet365).
It's very different this season, as there aren't any teams with transfer embargos like Hull, or point deductions.
This is a far more difficult season to stay up.
Cardiff have good youngsters, but aren't big spenders. They're only money is on their keeper, was on loan with them last season
Bolton were a mediocre side, who scraped up via the playoffs
Blackburn still have an awful owner.
Pompey will still be bottom 3rd of the table
West Brom and QPR won't be much better than they were last season etc

Know his agent, apparently passed on him.Braziliance said:On the subject of Peterborough and that ridiculous rumour, I have noticed Peterboroughs player of the year Archie Collins hasn't joined anyone yet.
Really feel that would be a smart pick up. Pretty good on the ball, can pick a pass, plenty of league 1 experience and looks like he could play a level above potentially.
Not saying he would solve all our midfield problems, but think it would be a solid pick up on a free.5
