The same applies to PL loan players. I'd be amazed if we didn't try to bring in some attacking quality this way.fenaddick said:

I think if we can sign a right winger that likes to play high and wide, then a defensive right back works well. Ramsay/McNamara can tuck in, Mesik/Edwards can get forward on the left and then Grant/TC get some freedom to drift insidecfgs said:Talk of a less attacking fullback doesn't worry me too much. I think Kanu definitely moves on now. If we were playing 2 up top then I think he’d have more of a chance, but he would really struggle as a lone striker in the championship I think2

You're basing this on us having not made a multi million pound signing yet, with the season not starting for a number of weeks and the window open until end of August?Three weeks away from our first league match and a team that was desperate last season for creative players. Not necessarily spending millions but paying competitive wages to players ending their contracts. The next three players will be fundamental to our survival & you would imagine tactically you’d want them in asap.
I think the signings are proving to be tough to get doen, but for the right players the club will invest
There have been players who were right for us like Field who went to Norwich. Like Jones said we were blown out the water with what Norwich offered. I have no doubt Sykes was also the right player but we can’t compete with Millwall. Primarily we don’t stand a chance financially with most clubs in the championship so we have to take chances on players like previous injuries or unproven.4 -

I am sure he was blown away when he was told a Championship club was interested. I reckon he'd already started looking at houses in Cambridge.
Besides, you're a bright enough chap to know that's the usual guff players come up with, whether it's Real Madrid or Margate they're signing for.
What's he going to say, 'I enjoyed giving it to Charlton last season, so was astonished when they wanted to sign me, as I thought I'd have to phone Harris for a new contract in League One'.

Said a while back on an Alex Mitchell thread that I'm supposed more players don't move between the two clubs - much as I don't like Millwall, it's not a big fierce rivalry, no one really cares when players move between the two, and it means players don't have to home home etc.ValleyLocal said:

Would have made sense for the last few years - firstly us in the Prem, players who aren't quite good enough moving to Millwall, and then when we were a league below, more sinilar transfers to Alex Mitchell.2 -

I'd be surprised, if we mainly play 433/4231 this season, if we didn't keep Apter around as an option to play in his natural position. We coughed up over £2m for him 12 months ago, that's too big an investment for a club like us to throw away.
If Apter is still struggling in January, then we might have to loan him out again, but I think he's worth keeping for the first half of the season.3 -

Most Italian clubs have no money but looks like that isn’t the case at Torino. They’re spending £20m odd on a few players each of the last few summers and they’re at £10m+ already this go around.3
