He's not likely to say....."I laughed when we trounced them 4-0 as the manager didnt have a clue how to set up a team to play us"...Henry Irving said:

But players don't want to play for Jones.
Also, if what other posters have said on here today, he was more likely to sign for his old boss at Cambridge or to League 1 new boys Bromley.
Not knocking the lad but it doesn't sound like we had to beat off other Championship teams to sign him.2 -
£6million !!??? Do me a favour.BetterCallSaul said:Love Ramsay but with a year left on his contract I'd take £6m for him all day long. It's more than likely bollocks though so not much point giving it any more thought.
I doubt it would be more than £2m.1 -
No chance they are paying £6m for a player they can offer a contract to for free in 6 months time4

This.killerandflash said:I'd be surprised, if we mainly play 433/4231 this season, if we didn't keep Apter around as an option to play in his natural position. We coughed up over £2m for him 12 months ago, that's too big an investment for a club like us to throw away.
If Apter is still struggling in January, then we might have to loan him out again, but I think he's worth keeping for the first half of the season.
We really don't need to buy a new Right winger if we play Apter in his rightful position.1 -
Absolutely zero chance is that £6m figure true, I can't think of any Championship defender over 25 that would go for that with 1 year left on their deal.0

Maybe 6 million lire 😂4

We definitely need at least 1 right winger to be our starter. Don’t mind keeping Apter around if it’s a choice between keeping him or signing Redmond as backup, but ideally we bring in 2 new players and Apter goes out on loan againgolfaddick said:

Playing 4-2-3–1 won’t necessarily mean Apter is suddenly good enough. He struggled playing in league 1 in that setup last season so the jury is out on whether he’s good enough in the championship0 -
Pretty sure Blackburn and Stoke were interested in him at some point.golfaddick said:

Considering how much people are still pissing and moaning about us spending on Olaofe and Apter and saying Jones shouldn't be allowed near the money it's hilarious that they're then upset about us not spending much on experienced backup players. People want the club to simultaneously be spending big fees that guarantee success while also not overspending, but also panicking if the spend isn't enough because that means there isn't any money. The levels of self-induced misery must be exhaustingfenaddick said:How much would people like us to have spent on our back up RB? Because if we’d spent loads and he sat on the bench there would be complaints then too18 -
We are being linked with a Hull City winger Abu Kamara who was suppose to be joining Pompey until we become interested ….. Pompey fans believe it’s true cause I quote we can’t match Charlton budget … Hull City News Site6

Didn't the Ramsay rumour start as being Torino wanting to get him on a pre-contract agreement in January? There's no way they're spaffing a big fee for him1

Not injury prone, squad players.
I am sure he was blown away when he was told a Championship club was interested. I reckon he'd already started looking at houses in Cambridge.
Besides, you're a bright enough chap to know that's the usual guff players come up with, whether it's Real Madrid or Margate they're signing for.
What's he going to say, 'I enjoyed giving it to Charlton last season, so was astonished when they wanted to sign me, as I thought I'd have to phone Harris for a new contract in League One'.
They don't build WUMs like they used to
But I can see why you like to live by that idea. It must give you some comfort at times all things considered.
I've come round to you being a bit of a know it all prick instead.

Underwhelmed by the McNamara signing.
If it's as cover and back up to Kayne then fair enough he's experienced, cheap but not a high performer. If he's replacing Ramsey then I'm worried and we'll need another new RB as first choice.
I don't normally care about the signing coming a from rival, but he does seem to be pretty staunch in his support for him, so the risk is if he doesn't get off to a good start with the fans you can see this one going badly wrong.
Still waiting for that signing to get the blood pumping and to show some intent of this much talked about evolution of style.3 -
Some of you were genuinely happier when we were in League One. Fucking insanity. We need a SQUAD. Two players in every position. We didn't do that last season and look what happened when Edwards got injured? Bell had to cover, and it became apparent that he simply couldn't as he would pick up an injury every couple of games playing as a wing back and then we were forced to sign crap like Onel Hernandez and Roussillon to try and fill the gap. We are taking steps to AVOID this issue happening again. If we're going 4 at the back then it's pretty clear that Ramsay will play right-back as he's not getting ahead of Koumatio, Sichinje, Jones, Burke or Bell, which means that McNamara is obviously to provide competition/cover in that position, so we have TWO right backs in case one gets injured. While I can accept the question marks over him being ex-Millwall and all that, to question why we haven't paid millions for a backup right back is just quite clearly mental.50

I can't see the harm if Redmond is showing good fitness levels to sign up until Xmas.7
