Sorry but Aribo > Rak Sakhi > Fevrier

I don't want any of them tbh with youTeeC said:Sorry but Aribo > Rak Sakhi > Fevrier2 -
Aribo isn't the player he was at Rangers , JRS will have most of the league as an option despite underwhelming at Stoke and Fev I don't see where he fits in as an improvement.ProperCharlton said:

But....would you take losing some must-win games in the winter months and finish 19th?!Braziliance said:

I don’t get the anti Aribo stuff.
Hes had a bad spell at Southampton but was a regular in their previous promotion.
Knibbs will be like a new signing with a full preseason under his belt.
We’ve not really seen any where near enough of him yet.

Why would we be looking to replace our top scoring midfielder?, add to him to help out I’d say,Carey has room for improvement, tailed off admittedly but think he will get better with more experience, better players.sam3110 said:

We need two new mids. If you are listening to NJ he says we need more flair at the top end. None of Knibbs, Carey or Fullah can offer 'more flair'. They were all there last season!!sam3110 said:

"we need a right back"
alternate universe where we spend money on a right back
Noooooo FFS stop wasting our precious money on right backs, we need to spend money on wingers you fools!
The club can't win with some of you I swear to God.
As it stands we need a first choice right winger, a first choice box to box midfielder, and depending on if they believe Coventry will look better with a top midfielder next to him, either a replacement for him or genuine competition in the holding midfield role.
On top of that, it would just be if we can further improve positions, Tanto and Kanu out and a championship striker in, Apter out and a second right winger in, that kind of thing
We still have 3 weeks to get things in motion
I'm glad you're not the manager because if you had your way we'd probably have a player churn of 80% every year and be on a one way trip to admin
Do you seriously think we'll sign 3 new midfielders to replace Carey, Docherty and Coventry? And 2 wingers? And a striker? On top of the 3 defenders we've already signed? Be realistic2 -
I would take all three but it is a game of opinionsProperCharlton said:

Why would any of the top teams in the division want Rak Sakhi? He’s not really done it anywhere except league one with us. Very much in our weight division but people talk like he’s on a different level.
I dont get the Fev thing - thought he ran like a fridge and was poor for almost his entire time with us. Just look at his career stats - no where near the level of player we should be going after.
Aribo has played in the premier league and won the league in Scotland. He’s a complete midfield player and I’m sure, at the age of 30, Jones could get a tune out of him.

Fev was excellent for us over the last few games of the season. He's also VERY versatile. What a great player to have on the bench, to come on and cover any of a number of positions.31
-
Aribo would be an error imo - take out the former association and not much to go on there2

I'd rather Fevrier was signed than (say) Aribo. Fevrier is only 23 and as said is versatile and i m o quite brave and skilfulcrookester said:Fev was excellent for us over the last few games of the season. He's also VERY versatile. I'm not sure any of the players we brought in last summer were that sought after by other clubs. As a newly promoted side, you're actually making signings from a relatively small pool of realistic targets - players that won't attract the attention of established mid table and above Championship clubs, but are (hopefully) too good for L1. Especially as in a normal season, the 3 promoted sides would be fighting for the same players, but last summer Wrexham and Birmingham were way richer than us, so after different targets.Braziliance said:
I think the Kelman example doesn't fit what I am saying. The rumours are he wasn't wanted at QPR anymore and the only other really other interested club (that we know of publicly) was West Brom, and they didn't feel he fit the price tag. (We overpaid in a lot of peoples eyes)PaddyP17 said:
This is quite an interesting thought exercise then. Why would Charlie Kelman have joined us? Would he be on a mega wage? Is the rumoured 3.5m part of it (I doubt it was actually that high btw)?Braziliance said:
I think people underestimate how much players look at how a team plays and if it will progress them as a player. Not many players will be ecstatic to join a side that concedes the lions share of posession, particularly away and don't create many clear cut chances.AberystwythAddick said:
That’s fair, if you’re going to be playing in a team that’s getting battered most weeks might aswell do it against Kane and Olise rather than Burnleystjohnshill said:
A friend of mine knows Holsgrove. He told NJ he wasn’t interested despite Jones best efforts to sell the club and project.Callumcafc said:Bring me HolsgroveHe wants to play in Germany. However, I would love him to change his mind
Usually the only way to convince players is offering so much money they don't care too much about the result, or they're a bit desperate.
Specifically talking about midfielders and forwards here. We're a defenders dream to join, can put yourself right in the shop window and boost your reputation.
He would have been hot property after a very good season in League One, he chooses a team stylistically dissimilar. Has NJ sold him the project, and that year one might be one thing, but years 2/3/4 are different? I think there's something in here about the long-term vision that you might not be considering Braz, but you're right tbf that right now we are still gonna be a more attractive proposition for defenders. Though I don't think we are as forlorn as you might think - Karlan Grant signing for us instead of staying on at WBA might be an indicator.
Now if you are Kelman, your options are, stay at a club where you know they're actively looking to replace you, go on loan again, or join Charlton and get a nice bit of cash doing so.
When you compare it to someone like Holsgrove being mentioned (genuine link, or delusion?) He is currently playing in the Portuguese top flight as a midfielder. He will be wanting a move that upgrades him, Charlton would be a backwards step potentially.
I really don't think Karlan Grant is an impressive signing to be honest. It seems like a stop gap signing for us, I am not expecting him to come here and break records, just do a job like Dykes, but maybe a bit better.
We are in a position where it is unlikely we can sign the players that get mentioned on here like BDK, Mills, Holsgrove etc, that would improve us and have genuine transfer sell on potential. We will probably have to just crawl ourselves to survival for a while until there's some serious cash being pushed in.
As long as we finish 21st I don't care, it just looks a big ask currently.
Knibbs took a long time, not because we were fighting off other Championship clubs, but because Reading didn't want to let him leave.
I suspect that we are in a similar position, where trying to bring in real quality in midfield is proving difficult, because the sort of player we need to improve the quality will have more attractive options.2 -
As has been said Fevrier was an important squad member in the run in last season with one rather important game standing out V Hull City, where he scored the all important second goal to seal the 2-1 win, a goal of real quality, so yes I think he would be good for us...13

It was all fun and games having Fevrier on loan for a couple of months but we can’t seriously be considering signing him on a permanent transfer.13

Given Fevrier was quality and is likely cheap, I have no idea why we haven't signed him.11

We absolutely needed a load of new defenders - Clarke and Chambers both gone, Bell and Burke both with fitness issues, new contracts needing to be discussed with Jones and Ramsay.DOUCHER said:

We needed an overhaul of everything and we've accomplished PART of it. The midfield and attacking players were always going to be harder to find and later to sign.2 -

Yeah his versatility is what appeals to me. Especially at RW where we need options, but he can also play both wingback slots. He's quick and direct. He will definitely frustrate at times, but he seems to work pretty hard, which fits into an NJ team.crookester said:Fev was excellent for us over the last few games of the season. He's at Stockport, so I don't mind us pursuing other alternatives then coming back to him as the summer goes on if we're not able to land a "Plan A." In short, I view him as a good "Plan B" in many respects (transfers, as a starter, etc.)3 -

But that's not going to happen, because again if you expect us to sign a new XI every summer, you're insane. Surely someone who claims to have so many mates in the industry and a direct line into the club would understand that more than most...DOUCHER said:

I’m a big fan of player X will be like a new signing. Just don’t see it with Knibbs. Fantastic presser and good for a goal, but seems way off technically for the Championship3
