I don't think anybody is being unreasonable in worrying that, taken at face value, we have 2/3 more signings left to come in - we've currently made 1 signing (Grant) who may impact the forward play. We've made zero signings across the midfield / wing back area which is where the real change / improvement in play will be made. If we aren't playing with wing backs then maybe we are looking at slightly less incoming personnel across that section of the team but personally i was expecting more than 1 + 2/3 considering we have let go berry, chambers, clarke, anderson, dykes, coady , fevrier and possibly others i've forgotten. I don't disagree with letting those go, we need better, i just don't see that adding another 2 players in the 'front 6' positions is going to cut it and if we sign another f'ing defender then i genuinely think NJ will be trying to break the guiness book of records for the most defensive squad ever. We need 2 new midfielders, 2 more ball carriers / players who can take people on and a proper centre forward. 

Fingers crossed the one that @stjohnshill indicated is close happens today, think it will ease a lot of nerves seeing a midfield upgrade join the squad soon

I can see that but it’s also a fanbase that has experienced years of ‘something good is coming’ to too often ultimately be let down. The new mob seem solid but scars take time to heal. The stemming of leaks bar @stjohnshill, also seems to have ramped up panic as people fill the gossip vacuum. Even Cawley now doesn’t break any stories and to me is working with the club to retain his early access to signings.

But it's like junkies wanting a fix, the players will be signed, you get the right one, not one to make someone in their mums houses back room on a knock off android phone feel better for 10 minutes. 

I do think players will be signed but I’m not as confident as yourself they’ll be the right ones, though not from lack of effort. There’s no chance that Grant or McNamarra were priority targets as both have said that contact and deals were done very quickly. Like with Koumetio, we wanted Graham but saw decent potential in Koumetio and ended up with him.

It seems that everyone has just skipped over what stjohns said and is assuming we have no plans to sign a midfielder or two. I'm going to have a Frank Grimes-esque meltdown soon.

Just wanted to add a bit of perspective on our window so far. Assuming Kayne stays, we’ve strengthened the defence with at least two classic Nathan Jones signings - players in their prime, with the physical attributes he values and strong pedigrees.

Bringing in Karlan Grant is also an upgrade to our attacking options. He may not have set the world alight at West Brom, but his quality was still clear to see, and I think there’s every chance Jones gets the best out of him.

I’m confident Jones will bring in at least two midfielders before the window closes. While I’m not convinced Kamara will happen, we’re clearly in the market for a winger or another direct attacking player.

It’s going to be a long, tough season in the Championship, but I trust Jones to build a side that’s competitive, just as he did last season. There’s still plenty of work to do, but I’m encouraged by the direction we’re heading.

Not sure about the massively overachieve, at least that shouldn't be the case but as it stands will be. We were told that each season we'd improve on the previous one, baby steps, maybe 2027/8 season top eight should be out aim. As it stands, and I know the window is open another month but we can't deal with if's, buts and maybes but we can with the here and now and now, right this minute, I'd take staying up. But that in my opinion isn't acceptable. My take by end August will hopefully be entirely different but I'm far from convinced it will be.

But nobody would have seen the changes in FFP coming like they have. This massively stifles a club like us and expectations need to change because of this!
