Daily Telegraph journo reporting we’re in for Holsgrove along with other Champ clubs and German clubs

Werder Bremen would surely blow any wages we could offer out the water

I thought it had been said that Holsgrove didn't wish to sign for Charlton?

He still might not, especially as that explicitly says we haven’t done a deal. It’s agent talk to kick someone into gear

I thought we weren’t even in for a midfielder?

Tbh no wonder he’s holding out if it’s for werder Bremen tbh. Would be delighted with holsgrove but I’m not holding out hope if we’re his backup option. Still, good that another journo has picked it up with some more info

This would be my immediate thought. Can't see us remotely being able to compete with Bremen.

If we haven’t got a deal done when we were first interested a month ago doubt that changes now

Depends on if we’re willing to go higher, the selling club are willing to go lower or if his target club decide he isn’t worth it. At some point we’ll need to move on though

Says we’ve not reached agreement with the club, must mean we’ve reached agreement with the player. For us to be named we must be his first choice 🙃

You’d imagine the club are talking with at least 3 or 4 options

getting Danny Murphy vibes here.... which is to say we may well end up signing him but we are clearly not his first choice.

Gut feel is if we cant convince him this is the project for him now, how committed will he really be?

But if we are all he can get, then he might put in superhuman efforts to move again in 12 months, netting us a profit or he might be won over.

Would expect we have a midfielder more advanced in terms of being close to signing than Holsgrove but he's the main summer target and it's just if it comes off.

I imagine all kinds of negotiations are going on, offers counter offers etc. Maybe for Holsgrove, JRS and maybe even JWP  among others. NJ was supposedly given a budget but who knows what might happen. Hopeful rather than confident

Depends on who else is actually looking, he might be our first choice but be Werder Bremen's 3rd choice, so if they get their 1st or 2nd choice in, they then pass on him and suddenly he's at our door, cap in hand

Surely despite his wages JWP starts every week for West Ham in the champ?

I really, really want us to sign Holsgrove, but if werder Bremen are in for him we have no chance

I think that notion was peddled by the miserable guy reams or by one of the many accounts he runs on ITTV

Wouldn’t be 100% sure, that the team that finished just outside the relegation zone in the Bundesliga, has more money than a team outside the relegation zone in the Championship.
