  • I'm hoping that it's true we've signed Kamara.
A possible sighting at the training ground & wikipedia being changed to Charlton is sounding promising.
This bit could be anyone and is no proof of anything. I could make myself manager of Charlton on there for a bit if I was easily amused
  • Ok so our plan is to sign anyone who’s name ends in amara!!,  the strategy is revealed 👍

I don't get why Dykes would be such a disaster. He was mostly really good, held us together and scored some lovely goals. I'd actively cheer his signing
He scored 3 goals. The only "lovely" one I can remember was the one away at WBA (?).

    And Leaburn scored twice.

If we are having a toss up as to which player is best then God help us.

Yeah, I think everyone knows that.
  • I’m really not sure about Kamara. He’s had a decent L1 season at Pompey but couldn’t quite step up to championship sounds like very similar to the majority of the squad
  • Rumour has it that Nathan's at SL in his pjs & a smoking jacket tonight..... B)

He cost Hull 4/5m and got 5 goals in his first season when I don't believe he started many games. Pompey are desperate for him back, watching his highlights he reminds me a bit of JRS.

His goal against Bristol City at The Valley was a goal of the season contender...

He also got a decent number of assists.
  • What’s fuelling the belief that it’s Kamara instead of Alli, whom Redrobo dropped in the chat and promptly left like the wind.

A lot of Hull fans have mentioned how lazy he is though. I’m worried Jones is moving away from what has brought him success as a manager and is trying to copy others where he’d be very much out of his depth because that’s not how he’s built his career.

structured defensive 352/41212 based on being aggressive, physical and having good characters is what he’s known for.

to suddenly switch up and go 4231 and sign McNamara who is a Millwall fanboy and potentially Kamara who is a great talent but lacks the effort just makes me hesitant can he get it to work

  • Probably redmond

We’ve got to take chances on players. We don’t have the budget to compete with the majority of the championship. We all need to be realistic but we do have the best manager in the league.

Other forum reporting a signing at the training ground this evening.

I can confirm it has not been reported on 606.

    Fake news.

It's fantastic we have about 10 strikers on the books, it is just a shame they only have about 20 goals a season between them.

On the wiki page of Abu Kamara, he now plays for us.

That is the nearest I'll get to being ITK.
  • Dykes is an uninspiring but solid signing, we’re going to have games where we sit deep and go long and in that striker role he done well for us last year

We need different options up top in this squad and with Leaburn often having injury issues, it’s a good move

What’s the point in listening to fans. What would other teams see from here or Twitter if TC was being sold.

    Fans don’t know

Linda kamara just started following charlton
  • Personally would always play Leaburn over Dykes
Have to say, i think dykes is an improvement over leaburn, and grant is likely an upgrade over the others. We need to keep upgrading if only little by little to get to the top 8

  • Last season when dykes played he seemed a level above our other strikers athletically

Fuck sakes, would rather keep Kanu than waste money on dykes. Shocking if true
This would be a good move .. won’t be long term lucky to get 2 year deal .. but would allow Leaburn to go out on loan .. Dykes is a far better target man and with better service will do a job
FFS the bloke is a donkey!!!

    Iorpenda is shite. No discussion.
  • Will be exciting to find out if any of the faces mentioned are in the stands at Plough Lane tomorrow
  • Kyrell Lisbie to Millwall seems to be done for (apparently) £3m increasing to 6. The money flying around in the championship is eye watering compared to when we were last established at this level. I think that gives some context as to why we haven’t been majorly active yet this window, we can’t compete with those numbers and need to be sensible where we do choose to spend.
  • So many clubs gambling on promotion or bust because there is no way these numbers will add up in terms of FFP.

There isnt FFP in the Championship. Its SCR and owners can invest up to £33m over three years and 85% income spend on players excl academies, infrastructure and womens teams.

Fair point - but even on an income basis half of these teams are getting less than 20k a week in terms of crowds. And are all the owners that minted?

still thinking (when you consider the wealth of our owners) that we shouldn’t be THAT far away. Not from the top 10 perhaps, but certainly the 10-15 below that
