Add in Jamie Allen and we have a brand new midfield without spending a penny on transfer fees #cheapaschips3 -
Frustrating to hear our last 2 signings are 3 weeks behind and probably doubtful as starters for the season, on top of various injuries to potential starters. Especially after what we saw today. Other clubs know they can play hard ball on us, with our quotes of not being able to compete financially, they know if they hang on we are going to get desperate. I wonder if we wanted kamara , but now we’re onto Alli as plan b. Yet that position I’d suggest isn’t our biggest issue.I know it’s not done in order of needs, but we knew what we needed last season. I’ve advocated patience but that has pissed me off more than it should today and the post match comments didn’t help.1

Mannion moved house during the summer. That wouldn’t suggest that he wants to leave0

Millenic Alli set to sign for a fee of 1.5 million according to efl published exclusive. Tidy little addition that in my personal opinion.4

The impression from Cawley is that it's more the player hoping to still be in Hull's Premier League plans.Braziliance said:
I don't understand the logic here.RedRobin said:Listening to Cawley and Louis’ pod, Rich mentions Kamara is likely an end of the window move and Holsgrove might be too expensive for us but hasn’t ruled it out.
If Kamara is a player we actually want, then surely you just go and get him now before Pompey do? Hull clearly want to sell, they've named a price, they're putting him in the shop window in pre-season.
I wish the club made a mini series on our summer transfer business. We have known our league status since April, yet our squad quality mostly looks league 1.1 -

NJ said he was going to be ruthless this summer, so sorry but goodbye Macaulay, Karoy & MitchOh Eddie Youds... said:

If we have to wait til the end of the window we will be 0 points from 5 with the current squad by then. It is mediocre at best just now.RedRobin said:Listening to Cawley and Louis’ pod, Rich mentions Kamara is likely an end of the window move and Holsgrove might be too expensive for us but hasn’t ruled it out.2 -
I think Alli is fine, but I'd still be looking at a Kamara or Rak Sakyi level player to start on that side and then Alli is a bit of a wildcard bench option12

Jones has been saying for months we want to add pace and 1v1 ability in wide areas. So it’s really not that oddAberystwythAddick said:Allis stats make for poor reading. It seems a really odd signing if true
Fans expecting us to sign a player with that who is also scoring 10 goals a season or getting loads of assists are deluded unfortunately. That’s just never going to happen. It’s why the stick TC gets is ridiculous because he’s better than most wingers we’d be able to sign and he’s still only young so can get a lot better24 -

We have pretty much the same players that started the season last year, we probably have a better squad now than we did last August against Watford. Don’t think we got 0 points then did we?Southbank said:

NJ always says a player has to be categorically better than what we have, is Alli categorically better than Apter? For example, it’s a genuine question as I don’t know, it feels like we are scraping the barrel a bit, I have nothing to substantiate that other than a feeling. At some point we have to spend/pay the going price for the quality we need if we want to be competitive, not every sustainable signing is going to come up trumps, if we keep gambling with this approach we will shoot ourselves in the foot. Rumours of coady and Dykes are not going to calm people down I don’t think.NabySarr said:

Last year we got off to a great start and showed form that we never got particularly close to matching at any other point of the season suggesting that statistically/in probability it was something of a fluke.NabySarr said:

0 from 5 is probably catastrophising it somewhat but we still need to improve considerably or it will be a season spent looking over our shoulders.
I actually don't think right now that we are definitely going down with the current squad but I do think it is quite possible and even probable as it stands.1 -

We also had the benefit of being on an amazing run & confidence being sky high from winning the playoffs, pushing the water more uphill this season in that regard3 -
What I don’t understand is that, among the talk of a reduced budget, it looks like on the transfer fee side we actually seem to have very, very little budget based on what we’ve spent so far. Even if Alli comes in for £1.5m that’s hardly significant.
I fully appreciate our wage budget has probably increased slightly - not massively - but at this rate it doesn’t look like even the £12m TV money will go on transfer fees. Probably well short unless the midfielders we bring in are for decent fees (which sounds unlikely)4 -
Anyway who is this mystery midfielder then? @stjohnshill1

Yes of course, but it's not like this squad is incapable of getting results in the championship. Some serious doom and gloom about when we have a better squad than we did last season at this stage, and we are obviously still working to bring more inYannTheMann said:NabySarr said:

Surely we’re well below what we spent last summer? Even accounting for higher wages.3

I think the doom & gloom is uderstandable as of this moment given this current squad looks quite weak in the centre of the park, but the vibe could change quickly if we get some quality in1
