Docherty fought hard in a team that looked set to take 3 points from its last 9 games until Hull rolled over. He runs around a lot and is good at holding a defensive shape. If he's in our starting midfield all season we're absolutely going downBangkokaddick said:There seems to be a lot of posters that forget how good Docherty was in the last two months of the season. He show Championship quality at times but we know his passing game isn't the best.
We are missing that player that can put in the killer pass or just keep the team going forward from central midfield. Another Cullen or Gallagher is what we need and that would almost certanly have to be a punt on a loan from a Premier League team.23 -
Factual point! Totally agreecabbles said:4 years as well for Alli, have we learned nothing from Ahadme. Ridiculous length of contract for a 26 year old that’s drifted in the lower leagues for the majority of his career2 -
Carey has played in the Championship with Blackpool I think.Rufus is a dogs name said:One of our best signings from last season was Carey who hadn't played above L1 level previously and we'd got mixed opinions from Blackpool fans.
Only time will tell but nothing to say Alli can't make a similar step up5 -
Personally would prefer midfielders that are good for 8/10 months opposed to 2/10 months. On their day Coventry Docherty and Carey could be a great midfield but any player could have 1/2 good games in the championship you need consistent quality which mattersBangkokaddick said:There seems to be a lot of posters that forget how good Docherty was in the last two months of the season. Read that at first as ( Jones ) lives in the North East.fenaddick said:
Curtis said NJ was going home. Curtis also revealed he lives in the north east, quite the commuteLargeAddick said:So, did Nathan shoot off yesterday due to Alli signing or was that already done and dusted and he had a plane to catch to persuade Holsgrove to sign?

I like both Doc and Coventry, they often unjustly take a lot of flack and criticism for the team. I don’t think it’s as much that the two of them doesn’t work and more that gaps and problems elsewhere need the two of them to step up even more to cover them and when you are chasing all over the place passes and the finer things of game plays tend to go out the window. We clearly do need someone, possibly two given our injury records, to come in and do a job like Kinsella or Parker along side Doc and Coventry. If there are those sorts of players out there then breaking the budget for them would be well well the money.blackpool72 said:
I agree Docherty played well towards the back end of the season.Bangkokaddick said:There seems to be a lot of posters that forget how good Docherty was in the last two months of the season. He show Championship quality at times but we know his passing game isn't the best.

That's largely down to the fact he was playing with Coady and not Coventry.
Docherty and Coventry just doesn't work.0 -
I love Dochs passion and in a team fighting with their backs against it he’ll run himself into the ground which I love.Bangkokaddick said:There seems to be a lot of posters that forget how good Docherty was in the last two months of the season. I think it’s a mistake to think this is championship quality personally . I think his passing, directing play and dribbling are just not that good. He’s great at running and blocking passing lines. If we want to dictate games and have more possession and create more chances , I don’t think he’s it.Love his passion of course3 -

Underwhelming window so far, but it's what I expected so it's hard to feel much by it.
I just hope we have a fair bit of money left still and it goes on that midfield and right back. If it doesn't, we all have a decent idea on how this season may pan out4 -
We don't need 3 right backs, unless we're selling RamsayBraziliance said:Underwhelming window so far, but it's what I expected so it's hard to feel much by it.

Please lord not another season experimenting with TC as a centre forward. Surely Grant up top if any of the wide men.

Hoping we start seeing the likes of TC, Kayne and Lloyd extend soon. Sure we would have liked to have that all tied up by now2
-
If TC and Kayne aren’t showing signs of wanting to stay on we need to sell, Lloyd on the other hand I would keep as he is one of the main reasons we stayed up last season just let him run his contract down and try convince him to stay over the season.YannTheMann said:Hoping we start seeing the likes of TC, Kayne and Lloyd extend soon. It’s concerning that what we needed most hasn’t happened, now we are left with not much time to bed in and sort some type of patterns of play, even if the cm’s we eventually end up with which I’m doubting will be our favoured signings are even fit enough. I’m keeping patient but have to say it’s very fucking difficult. If we need to try and ship players like knibbs out and recoup some money for other signings it needs doing rapid.0

Take Dykes all day long after Leaburn performance yesterdaycafc4life said:Pretty underwhelmed with all our business so far if I’m honest. Not quite in the bed wetting camp but none of them excite me.
if rumours are true and it’s just Dykes and Coady to come in, then I’ll be lumping on a relegation. Not even trying to be negative either, just seems we went for it more last summer in signings than this, albeit some of last summers were rancidio.
Been said on here a thousand times but if we do not bolster our central midfield, we are well and truly in for a long old season.Hope the club are working on this and not just freebie signings on their way down.1 -
Palace have priced him out the market even for a loan their quoting 5 mill loan feeKiwiValley said:JRS!?
oops instagram post from the club dated 2022. For some reason it’s at the top of the CAFC account

I think it suggests we're being ambitious with our targets. Good players should need less time to bed inSword65pf said:It’s concerning that what we needed most hasn’t happened, now we are left with not much time to bed in and sort some type of patterns of play, even if the cm’s we eventually end up with which I’m doubting will be our favoured signings are even fit enough. Need some big movement out now if we want to clear space for top quality midfielders.Kanu
Tanto
Assimwe
Doc
Ramsay (if the fee is right)
get some money in and reinvest on a high quality of player1 -
North east corner of the training ground, there's a shed there, it's where we keep the broken lawnmower engines we're trading on but Nathan has cleared a space on the floor for his sleeping bag.Lewis Coaches said:

It is because what we need most is the hardest and most expensive. Getting a very talented midfielder to come to a not very rich club which is second favourite for relegation is a very tall order.Sword65pf said:It’s concerning that what we needed most hasn’t happened, now we are left with not much time to bed in and sort some type of patterns of play, even if the cm’s we eventually end up with which I’m doubting will be our favoured signings are even fit enough. If we are lucky, we may get a Gallagher/Cullen for half or a whole season on loan. A permanent signing of the guaranteed calibre we need may just not be possible this season.8 -
Don’t disagree, let’s hope you are right.👍fenaddick said:

i see a lot of talk about Holsgrove but has anyone here actually seen him play? he had a half decent season last year but is 26, not a kid. I fail to see why he is being lauded as the second coming of christ.11

Absolutely and that’s my concern, but a couple in between what you describe and what we have would do at the moment, it just can’t be settling for what we have, we all saw it for ourselves last season.Southbank said:

Reckon now we have Alli that TC is sold quite soon. Grant/Alli for left side and some money for a CM. Hope I am wrong.0
