I have been thinking for quite a while that perhaps Miles Leaburn doesn't really enjoy being a professional footballer. Is it possible that he is just trying to please his mum and dad ?

You need to stop thinking mate :)

Please lord not another season experimenting with TC as a centre forward. Surely Grant up top if any of the wide men.
I genuinely can’t recall a time he’s received the ball anywhere but the left wing since we started playing the 3-5-2

    It’s painful watching him.

Disappointed that Patrick Casey refused to sign a new contract and is now  a free agent .. .. liked to have seen him push into the first team squad during pre season to have a closer look a natural goalscorer  ..
You’d have thought he rejected a new contract because he had something else lined up. It will be interesting to see where he ends up

Shall we play a game of guess the heatmap? Below are the heatmaps of TC, Alli and Grant last year. Are we going to play with three left wingers?

Given his age we’ll be due compensation. I’d guess a lot of non-league clubs can’t or won’t pay it, and there won’t be a queue of EFL clubs after him.

Wonder if Peterborough might be an interested party, with him going into their U21s

Yeah you'd think he'd end up National League but the compo will be too high. League 2 clubs probably wouldn't have a look either because of it.

He's too old for that realistically, he needs senior football. If a L1 club were to take a punt on him it would be Bromley but that doesn't seem likely.

Need some big movement out now if we want to clear space for top quality midfielders.
    Kanu
    Tanto
    Assimwe
    Doc
Ramsay (if the fee is right)
get some money in and reinvest on a high quality of player
    Top quality midfielders.
Sorry but that is not going to happen.

    Average players maybe .

The days of decent and top quality players at Charlton disappeared Many years ago.

I know no one was counting on it but Joe Gomez got his customary preseason injury yesterday to guarantee we don't get the sell-on this summer

People won't like reading this, but the last time we had true quality players that went on to do good/great things was in the Roland Duchâtelet era

Edit: Lloyd Jones excluded. He's very good at football.

So as it stands, how many of our new signings do people consider improvements and 1st team starters?

Alright here’s a list of foreign / exotic / based abroad defensive minded central midfielders that I’d like to see us target

    - Jordan Holsgrove
    - Juho Kilo
    - Anzor Mekvabishvili
    - Matias Siltanen
    - Timi Elsnik
    - Frank Adjei
    - Markus Karlsson
    - Adrion Pajaziti
    - Santiago Castañeda
    - Seo Jae-Min
    - Panagiotis Andreou

You can probably pick holes in each of them for one reason or another. Not gone too deep with the research but thought it would be fun to throw half a dozen names out.

Why are you sending it here, you're meant to send it on X under everything the club posts, and in a letter addressed to "the manager" at Sparrows Lane

Just remember to sign it J Ackworth too, so they know you're serious 😉

I have been thinking for quite a while that perhaps Miles Leaburn doesn't really enjoy being a professional footballer. Is it possible that he is just trying to please his mum and dad ?

You need to stop thinking mate :)

TECHNICALLY you do have Maatsen who we signed in the Sandgaard years and went on to play in the Champions League. But I totally agree that Duchatalet somehow manages to remain the most recent "highlight" for player quality, weirdly.

I don't understand how that is a unpopular opinion.

I wouldn’t like to see TC leave as I think he’s one of our better players, but there’s no way he’s proven at this level.  He needs to kick on and deliver more this year.  I appreciate we weren’t the most fluid footballing team last year and the LWB role was very unsettled on Greg whole as soon as Edwards was injured, but I’m not sure he’d be a player of choice for a Soton, Norwich, Boro, Wolves, West Ham etc or anyone else chasing promotion.  For both us and him I think he should sign a new deal here.  If he doesn’t and he doesn’t offer much more than he did last season, I can’t see him getting a move to a Championship team 12th and up.

Of course, he could be hedging his bets and not confident we’ll stay up, in which case it might be the right move for him, and he is then free to find a club 13-21st in the Champ for season 27/28
tc, ramsay, jones and bell are our best players - losing any of them is not a positive - keep them and add more quality is positive even if they don't sign new deals

I think we need an upgrade on Coventry, someone more well rounded - strong defensively but a better and more creative passer, and an upgrade on Docherty who offers the same engine and defensive work, but again a better passer and a more technical and/or physical player.

Is that not just because that was the last time we were in the championship for a few years? If we stay up for a few years now I’m sure we will have some players that are quality and go onto better things. Just doesn’t happen that often when you are a mid table league 1 club which is what we’ve mostly been since Roland
