Last year, defence ok. Keeper, 50/50. Midfield defense ok, attack from Midfield, sporadic, goals low. This year need a CM guy offensively minded then rest of signings will click for mid table - without decent CM = L1.1

Reading a bit of their forum at the end of last season their fans out it down to their owners deciding to take them to Indonesia on a pre season tour where a load of their players picked up injuries on awful pitches. That meant they started the season really poorly and never received despite doing much better towards the end as their players returned and after a decent January window.

Actually I do, I want to know as much as possible about our players, about our club. Whether the club wants to hand me that info is up to them but if Richard Cawley is releasing that info, all & sundry could subscribe & they would know all of our inside info. So why doesn't the club release info on Edwards one year almost, injury ?sam3110 said:

Dykes is a solid lower to mid table Championship striker which is exactly what we should be consolidating ourselves as right now.
No it’s not sexy but it does the job.30 -
Dykes’ worst performances came right at the end of the season where my guess is that he was protecting himself for the World Cup. Would piss me off if was on a multi year deal with us but as he was to become a free agent you can understand why he did it. Certainly makes our squad stronger overall.

6 points separated us and Oxford, not a lot. Relegated sides will always have players or at least 1 that you can identify as still good enough to play in the league and I genuinely believe you can apply that to any league system in any country.4 -
Wimbledon can't afford to buy him though, and we won't loan Kanu out unless he extends his contract. And I'm not sure he'd want to do that anyway, just to be loaned out and be in the same situation in a year's time.stjohnshill said:

Tanto is a bigger problem, as he'll be on bigger wages, and thus hard to shift.8 -
Key to making Dykes a worthwhile signing is who we have playing in the three behind.
If he can hold it up and bring the three runners into play behind, then it can work. At present the 3 is Grant, Carey and TC..... So I would be keen to get another wide attacker in to get behind.1 -

So I would be keen to get another wide attacker in to get behind.Yep there’s a difference using Leaburn and Dykes as constant long range targets that we lump it up to… vs a seemingly new plan to stack ourselves with exciting wide players that can play balls in. Doesn’t negate the need for decent midfielders but in that new context Dykes might be exactly the sort of player you want leading the line.1 -
There's a lot of punters on here going on about Dykes aerial ability. Do you know how many headed goals he scored last season? Zero. All his goals were scored with his feet.
But at least 2 of his assists came from cushioned headers on ..2 -

No issue with us signing Dykes tbh, he's probably the best target man style striker we can afford, but we desperately need to sign 2 very good CM's before it's too late.9

We might see more movement out the closer the end of the window. Clubs try for targets and if they fail with their preferred options they start moving down the list of probables.killerandflash said:

Think seeing Leaburns performances in pre season as forced NJ hands , Stewart ( Southampton ) wage demands were ridiculous so why not keep Dykes done very well last season with us … and in a different system you need someone who can hold the ball up and bring others into play ..4
