Glen Hansard RIP

The Irish folk rock singer and actor died in a motorcycle accident at the age of 56. Made some of my favourite music and won an Oscar for the song 'Falling slowly' from the film 'Once'.

So sad - no age whatsoever. I have many of his albums and he was such a rare talent.

One hopes he and Shane are having a good craic.

    RIP Glen

He’s very well known here in Ireland obviously but was mainly known for his brilliant performance as Outspan Foster in The Commitments outside of here.

He was the same age as me 😢
Really kind man, always up for doing a gig around here in West Cork for any cause.

I've spent all day talking with folk about him.
We’re all in shock, very sad.

Rest in eternal peace you beautiful fella 💔

Died on his way home after playing a gig in The wren’s nest in Chapelizod, Dublin following a motorcycle accident.

You never know when it’s your time.

Saw him (as The Swell Season, so post ‘Once’) at the Barbican in 2008. Came on with an acoustic guitar and no microphone for the first number. Almost like busking to an auditorium of nearly 2,000 people! A 2 hour long show with a varied set and guests. Wish I’d seen him live more, not sure why I didn’t.

    RIp Glen.

I like Once, and it has special memories for me for... reasons.

    However...

I assume Marketa would have let us know by now....

Bit of a double standard though, no? Didn't Philip Schofield get hauled over the coals in pu pic for basically the same thing?

If it’s true he was a nonce, I can’t believe this is the first I’ve heard of it.

Glen dated Marketa as an adult and as far as I'm aware that's not illegal? She also performed at his funeral.

Not really sure what you're getting out of this but hopefully it makes you happy.

Falling in love with her doesn't have to mean anything other than love. He waited until she was 18 before it became anything else.

So - exactly the same as Philip Schofield then?

Look, I'm not deliberately being arsey here - it's just that there are clear double standards depending on the person involved.
