Looking forward to Knibbs this season. Looked lighter and a proper player in the last friendly. Chalobah helping with the supply.

Maybe more of a rough tackling midfielder

We’re at max squad capacity so any senior players we bring in we have to shift someone out.
    Tanto-> Kamara/Any RW(Pretty Guaranteed)
    Cov/JRC/Doc? -> Holsgrove

Chalobah would improve the midfield but would you want to risk him as one of ur 4 pivot options when you’re also gambling on Mwamba stepping up. If both go horribly wrong you could be stuck with Holsgrove and someone else for half a season without sufficient depth.

No idea if accurate or summer holidays are in full swing in France too.

If Holsgrove signs, I assume Chalobah will not, shame.
I’d really like both after watching Chalobah on Tuesday, think they bring different things and would be great options or to play together.
    We do need 2 CM's.

Chalobah No better than we got, I wouldn’t take up places or budget on him to be honest. He is a decent player. But doesn’t massively improve us
Good luck finding someone who "massively improves us" on our budget and who wants to actually sign for us

Why are people desperate for us to sell Kanu all of a sudden?

I think the Holsgrove “saga” will drag on for weeks yet. I think it’s obvious that Charlton are not his only suitor and as the window progresses I also suspect he’ll get a few more. I hope, even if he’s our number one target that we don’t neglect to get busy with our number two because our midfield can’t remain as is.

George Green joined Charlton from Espanyol in 1938

He'd been playing in Spain but was back in the UK when the Spanish Civil War broke out so unable to return he joined Jimmy Seed's side.

I dont think its wanting to sell him as much as recognising that we do have to sell some players just from a numbers perspective, and being in his last year after a decent season on loan Kanu is going to be one who will get definite interest at least.

You genuinely think Doc or Cov are no better than Chalobah?

Looking up Sangare, Lens finished 2nd so will be playing Champions League football, and Sangare looks to be a quick and powerful DM or box to box midfielder.

That’s very different to Holsgrove who’s more of a deep lying playmaker.

Looks like Sangare is going to Brentford for £41m, so combined with the CL money I imagine Lens will have plenty of money to spend on a replacement.

I disagree.  Who have got that's as good as him?

Don’t think I’ve seen him play there for us but didn’t JRC play rb for Blackburn quite a lot? Could be useful as a utility player although not a position we’re light in anymore

Perhaps we could have a daily fun Charlton fact thread. This would be a very good opener.

Yeah predominantly played there , would be a bit worried about his lack of pace if we had to play him there in an emergency

I'd happily give him a chance in the first team this season. Even it's off the bench

    I wouldn’t, he’s not good enough.

If we are bringing in a player from abroad Monday as has been suggested,if it were him there's no way he would have played tonight surely.
    He's not...
    Oooh !

Should I be getting excited ?

It take a lot these days, mind you.

Just a reference to players we've signed from Spain and coincidentently from the same club as Sanchez although not sure if there was an actual transfer.

I have watched a lot of football, but my judgement is far from perfect.
However based on frankly the flimsiest of evidence I am confident that a fully fit Chalobah would improve us a lot.
The key point (after the financials and practicalities) is whether he is and can stay fully fit to the level that Nathan Jones demands.

Sorry everyone not sure if this has been posted on here before. It says a couple weeks ago but I wonder if this is the signing from abroad? I know he is predominantly a right back but I think it wqs said that he can play further forward as well which matches the bill for a right winger. Again could be completely wide of the mark but just thought I’d post it on here.
I doubt it’s Sanchez. Jones has said we’re in for a winger and central midfielder. He’s neither of those things really.
I know Jones has said this, the reality is though that if we end up needing to go back to our 3-5-2, we have no one suitable for the right wing back role. A player like Sanchez could fit that role.
We would need two right wingbacks and two left ro ensure that system, currently have Mezic at a push . Its not going to happen.

Different positions so why not? Chalobah when fit is an upgrade on all of our current midfield.

Will Ferry looking very impressive for Dundee Utd tonight v Rangers
Interestingly, just came on to post that he was like a left footed version of Harry Clarke without a good long throw, free kick delivery or ability to run in to space and miss a sitter. From the same game Pan Camara still stealing a living. All about opinions, eh?
Will Ferry had a cracking game tonight. Surprised you’ve not rated that performance. Tidy player but an unreal engine getting up and down the pitch. Celtic could do a lot worse than getting him in and lots of fans talking about him on socials.

Camara as you say is STEALING a living. His best contribution was when he got out of his own players way.
Didn't watch the first half but didn't impress me on 2nd half, my bad
He didn't exactly pull up any trees in the first half either.

Be a bit weird if there were trees on the pitch though.

So harsh to judge him on that.
