I better see a player from abroad that has signed at 3pm otherwise the meltdown will be unfathomable 😂

There is no positive spin to put on it if we sell one of our key players, who we want and are trying to keep, for a fraction of their true value to a direct divisional rival
How do we know that NJ still wants him?
Also what is TC true value then?
He said he wasn’t inviting offers for Campbell 4 days ago as per Cawley substack

If TC goes then our already very bad window gets significantly worse. Preston as well, my word
I’m genuinely confused why our window is ‘very bad’ 😂

We have so far lost no one I wouldn’t have wanted to lose and brought in 3 players who definitely feel like upgrades. A bit of a wildcard in Alli and a very journeyman feel right back who apparently has an excellent attitude.

We still need more but the manager has already said that and we’ve only had about 60% of the window so far.
Probably because we still have Cov & Doc as our midfield with our first league game in less than two weeks.
And I get that would be bad by the end of the window. But that doesn’t justify an already ‘very bad’ window 60% in.

No club will be finished their business by this point. It’s just not how the window works.

As for his value I don’t know, but what I do know is that Preston won’t have paid it if they do sign him with 1 year left on his deal

Think that people just wanted it sorted by the beginning of the season with it being so obvious throughout last season.

Imagine that some people are also worried about the like of Jones & Ramsay not signing new deals.

@Redrobo is already discussing a complex witness protection style relocation programme with the authorities.
I’m not ITK but I’ve heard from a pretty reliable source at the club that it’s a four bed new build just outside Preston

There is when you stand to make zero money from him when he leaves on a free next year. See it way too often from our fans, a lot seem to think it’s a great business model to just let players run their contracts down and lose them on a free.
We’d still get compensation if he left next summer

Regardless, the smart financial move is to lay him the money now so we can retain him, and then sell him in a year or 2 for much more money. We should be doing all we can to keep him and really pushing the boat out, if we’ve done that and he still won’t sign then fair enough
To sell him for much more money in a year or two you are banking on him progressing sufficiently. Personally I just don’t see it.
I really don’t think he has to progress that much to be worth a good fee if you understand the market for that type of player at the moment.

TC has premier league level physical attributes, he’s one of the quickest players in the championship (think he was clocked 3rd fastest in the league last season), and when he’s not knackered his running distances are very good and he does a lot of it at high intensity

These attributes all in one player are very very rare which makes him hugely valuable in modern football where 1v1 dribbling, distance covered and number of sprints are given a lot more importance when teams are recruiting

If you still don’t see it then Andre Brooks went for £9m this summer, he’s a similar type of player that TC actually starts ahead of for Jamaica. Last season he had 6 goals and 2 assists, so his output was only 2 G/A more than TC and he’s worth £9m. If TC was to even marginally improve his output and we had him on a longer contract he is easily worth at least £5m but possibly nearer that Brooks fee

If TC wants an extra 5k a week on top of whatever we’ve offered him then I think it’s worth it in the long term

Given the Alli purchase, TC is worth £2m+. With a 3/4 year contract £10m+. I'm surprised more Prem sides aren't in for him. You cant coach pace.

    It means nothing.

He’s not going to come out and say yeah he’s not in our plans I don’t want him.

That would completely tank whatever we could get for him
  • This would be a terrible decision, and so I fully expect it to happen.

TC getting abused? People are having a laugh right? TC is way more supported at games than heckled, substantially more.

He has a chant (completely inaccurate btw, rarely scores) that gets sung at least twice a game. All the people that do have a go at him he probably can't hear in a packed stadium.

TC frustrates fans, but that happens at every club. We as a fan base generally give players an easy ride, it takes a lot for us to completely have a pop at someone.

Be annoyed if he goes, as I don't believe we can adequately replace him, but from his point of view the move might be at the right time. He plays in a team that nullifies his strengths, he may get more attacking freedom at Preston, then it's up to him to improve individually. I feel here he has too many defensive duties at times and has been overplayed.
The fact you think TC doesn't get abused is absolutely baffling.
I must just be nowhere near these boo people.

Yes I have heard people say to me they think TC is lazy, frustrating (I have said I find him frustrating loads) and I have heard people outloud moan when TC misplaces a cross or whiffs a shot etc. I have never witnessed a person say something so obvious he directly hears it though.

I have met TC a handful of times, and the lad is never upbeat. You compare him to our other academy lads like Kanu and Anderson (of course now ex) and they're nothing alike. I have always found Miles and TC to be a bit reserved and not look motivated, but that is their personality type.

Can genuinely say I have never heard or seen anything where I have thought "TC will hear/see that and it's going to impact him". If we are talking social media, he will have to log off or avoid it, as that only gets worse the higher he goes.

I think TC has been far more backed by us as fans than heckled. Vocal minority having a lot of influence here imo.
There was a game last season where he missed a chance and the chant of “fucking useless” was very clear. I’m sorry but your experience seems to be very different to everyone else here
Sorry but it’s an objective fact that TC has been booed this last season, and has received a lot of abuse.
TC used to celebrate goals but this season no longer does.
Social media is equally bad of course
That’s because this season hasn’t started and he doesn’t score many goals.

If a player, any player, doesn’t want to re-sign, then as a business you need to cash in.
As previously mentioned on this thread, I’d maybe let Jones run his contract down if he didn’t re-sign.

We are all replaceable in life, doesn’t matter who you are.

Come September NJ will have a squad he will have to use, what will be will be. NJ will give it a go, most of the players will turn up and we will all be a year older.
Far too many on here are glass half empty 😂
Aren’t you massively contradicting yourself there?

Anyway, whether it’s better to let a player run down their contract or sell them with 12 months to go depends on a number of factors:
    - how important is the player to us?
    - is the player likely to be demotivated if they stay for the remaining year of their contract?
    - how replaceable are they?
    - how much do we get if we sell now?
    - is the amount we get to sell now enough to bring in an adequate replacement or strengthen other more pressing areas of the team.

It’s not as simple as “if he’s got 12 months left and won’t sign a new deal then sell him”, especially for a regular first team starter like TC.

Look, for all we know, TC has signed a new 5 year 20K contract.
What I’m saying is, we all put too much of our ‘feelings’ into football, all of us. But, in any other business, if you need to cash in, you cash in.
TC isn’t one I’d personally keep, he has had plenty of time to develop to a higher level, there is a value now. LJ would in my opinion have a lesser value next year anyway due to his age.

oh, not sure ‘Massively’ wasn’t a bit over the top 😂 for contradicting 😏

We have the money but not stupid enough to spend 750,000 on a non league player ..
Yes, we dodged a bullet not paying 750,000 for Sorba Thomas, a winger from Boreham Wood. What a mistake that would have been!

Sorry I have read the last 200 comments but still not sure, is TC good or useless 😂
We're not sure, but one thing for absolute certain is that he has definitely been regularly abused by the fan base, but also regularly had a song sung about him, so is a fan favourite.

Hope that clears things up a bit
We’re gonna bang on about it for pages and pages!

Bored by the whole TC thing tbh.

I wish he would either sign a new contract or be sold just so we could discuss something else.

I suspect his agent is doing what Greg Docherty did. Giving his name to journo to create rumours to force the clubs hand even more
I know he's the captain and everything but I'd be a little disappointed if we're renewing Doch.

no it don’t .. it’s been a good window with players coming in better then we had which is what NJ told everyone .. two more coming in .. if TC goes not a great loss was it 3 assists all season .. think Apter given the same amount of games will have far better stats then that ..  don’t see TC as a starter.

Read the posts of @stjohnshill and take a long hard look at yourself.
    It is really very sad.

Part of me finds it hilarious that his agent thinks he can pressure Charlton into offering him a better deal as if he wasn’t part of the worse championship midfield last season

Agreed, it makes it even odder because we wouldn’t be able to buy a player of his ability for that or less
