Tv money and season ticket revenue I think equates to 14 million and they’ve spent a fraction of that. I guess they’ll use this to claw back some of their investment

After reading two pages feeling utterly deflated that has got a belly laugh out of me. Nice one.

Seems odd that Alli, for example, was signed to a 4 year deal.
Lots of stuff doesn't make sense. Why change the dugouts etc...

Is it possible they're looking for additional investment, rather than a full on sale?

Well at least now this thread can go on the back burner for a few days, bigger things at play at the moment.

Sorry, but can we please stop talkin' about Harry fu*kin' Clarke and how much Stoke are or are not gonna cough up for him, bigger fish to fry now...🤦‍♂️

Three and a half million for Clarke is laughably overpriced
Get real,we are a Championship club, not in div 1 anymore, 3.5 mil sounds about right to me

The biggest error is in all this hullabaloo is they've forgotten to send a cab for Jordan Holsgrove at Stanstead.

Saw there were lots of posts, double checked to see if any incoming announcement threads, no. Resigned to 20 pages of TC related discussion and then boom, guardian says current billionaires are bailing out.

im hoping for the 'sales deck looking for new investment' rather than 'current guys want out' angle.

Would be nice to have a new midfielder, Jones, Ramsay and TC in new contracts announced tomorrow pls

Him and Egbo both been on trial at Swindon, 6 ex Addicks in the PFA training camp. Tonnes of players for us to choose from there

Honestly, Stoke deserve to go down for pissing £3.5m on Clarke. A solid pro that did a solid job for us but come on now. What are we even doing here
That's the going rate in the championship
If we don't want to get sucked into a relegation battle our owners need to up their game.
Is it really the going rate for a solid but unspectacular right back in the last year of his contract though? Or did Ipswich just see Stoke coming?
I think it's probably a bit of both. Worth remembering Clarke came through the Arsenal academy and was apparently mustard the last time Ipswich went up to the Prem. I could see it being the case that Clarke is a better RB than he is a RWB, as he sometimes flattered to deceive in the final third (the less said about his shooting, the better), but I thought he looked a strong and tenacious 1-v-1 defender and was tidy on the ball while lacking some end product. Stoke played a 4-2-3-1 last year, as did Ipswich the last time they went up, so I expect Clarke to adapt pretty well.

Is that a 3.5m player in the last year of their deal? I'm not convinced, but I think it's closer to 3.5m than our owners would probably like.

We're playing in big boy waters now.
From about half an hour before the Guardian article broke. I do wonder if part (operative word being part) of them wanting out was looking at transfer and wage fees being quoted this summer and realizing how much they would need to invest to make a dent in this league. Especially with all they've already spent just to keep the club afloat. It's a mug's game football ownership. I hope we find a newer, better mug I guess.

Just seen something on one of the sites (can’t remember which one sorry 😂) that the fee for TC is north of 2.5 million.

To be fair (and that's hard to do tonight!) that isn't new money, we would have received the same last year and a chunk of it will go to things like wages

Just one more thing before I hit the pillows. The yanks are selling this club as 'with potential to enter the Premier league', they are not selling it with 'ground suitable for development' as they don't own shit. Why does this matter, their sales pitch is suggesting that we are one sneeze away from the Premiership, if we sit in the bottom three looking at a return to Div one then their sales pitch is dead in the water and any buyer would or should see through this. As for the players signed, I believe they were signed using monies already generated and it's the players contracts that are the big cost and if they sell the club, then those contracts are someone else's responsibility.

Bought for 15m and "looking for several times that figure" screams to me that they're selling slices of the pie, but dangling the whole club as a carrot to get the ball rolling. I just don't see us as worth 60m (or 75, 90 etc).

I know one of the owners is pretty close with a fair few players, speaks to them fairly regularly, including one or two players before most matches. Shows he’s very invested in the club and players.

I wonder if he is keen to buy the club? He isn’t a billionaire so would need other investment but he isn’t poor either

Well that's Brener, you can tell he's the "football man" out of all of them
