Not ideal news tonight but the owners aren’t stupid. They’ll know if we were to get relegated their asset is worth less
The Asset that is The Valley belongs to Roland.

It should belong to Charlton Athletic.

Without this Charlton is worth less.

The Americans know this but have no sense in English football to do anything about it.

Calm down guys .. the article was misleading and not totally correct … the club are moving forward with investing in the team ready for the start of the season .. day to day running of the club is business as usual..

so you don’t think there’s a link between the transfer window & the sale of the club.

Doesn't look like it to me. He hardly ever posts.
Anyone with a few years on the clock and a good memory will remember when the news broke on this very forum by a regular that a certain Kevin Cash who was secretly soley funding the Jimenez/Slater era , shit the bed and left the building when snake Jiminez tried to pull the wool over his eyes.
Said poster got absolute pelters for weeks before it turned out he was 100% correct and we slipped down a hole I certainly never want to try and climb back out of.

Just because someone claims something you don't want to hear doesn't mean it isn't true.
    Nay sayers gonna nay.

They are looking for investment whether that results in a sale further down the road who knows but like the club said they were aware that they were seeking investment … as far as the club is concerned its business as usual ..that includes budgets in place for both men’s and women’s teams to prepare for the new season .. yes the news story as not helped the club getting in players but the owners will want the best for the team going forward cause a winning team is easier to attract investors or sell
    the club ..

Just a bunch of positive crew now bedwetting.

Clubs getting sold and there's no money for transfers.
We're getting relegated because a Preston forum said they're signing TC.
Holsgrove has changed his mind mid flight because twitter dave might call him pony from the stands.
No one has posted any shit stats for a while so you know things have been bad.
Nathan Redmond may be playing guitar around the pitch first home game of the season.
Harry Clarke has signed for Stoke for 3.5M which is either too much or the going rate for the Championship depending on your level of jealousy/ bitterness.
  • Bottom line is Charlton is worth more to anyone if it is a Championship club…owners aren’t stupid they will invest to ensure this.  So expect more signings and besides this happens all the time now - look at Swansea,Cardiff and the like they are always looking for investors and hopefully a potential owner who wants to take the club lock stock and all - a money bags who pays Roland £50m and then invests in their toy

Cawley seems to be suggesting that the guardian article could be misleading and they may just be continuing to seek extra investment? Maybe I'm clutching at straws.
The biggest evidence for or against this is what they’ve spent in the window. Which is peanuts compared to last season.

How much have we spent compared to this time last season? Asking for a friend.

    A) the window hasn't closed.  How many players have Cardiff, Blackburn,  Lincoln,  West Brom etc signed?
    B) we've brought in 5 players already,  6 if you count Sinchenje in January,  who was out of this summer's budget. The wages we are paying to Karlan might be a step up.

Yep, I think the vibe now is that they are actually looking for additional investors as opposed to selling completely. Apparently the Guardian article was misleading and untrue.
Good job Cawley has cleared that up for you on Substack.

I've heard the reason we haven't announced the new signing from abroad yet is because we've been filming all day today for another hilarious skit involving Curbs and the AI stuff, which went long on filming and production and will now not be posted until tomorrow at the earliest
So your telling me we've signed someone but wont announce it because of some stupid "reveal" nonsense went on too long.

    Unbelievable Jeff.

    (Or we're being whoooshed)
    Just you, Golfie, just you...

From the Clubs perspective it really doesn’t matter when they announce it.

Maybe they also knew what was coming out in the press.
  • Following last nights news…signing Aribo seems more realistic - TBF he is only 30 ! If we can afford his wages SURELY he has got to be worth a 2 year contract - I remember when he played for us with his telescopic legs that won many balls in midfield and started attacks for us he always seemed to have time on the ball and he was composed especially in the box he was clinical - Isn’t this the type of player we need, maybe he could rekindle his partnership with Grant - the more I think about it the more I feel he could be a great addition

Seems to me we’ll be looking at the loan market to bring in any quality after last nights news, can’t see them spending big on transfer fees or contracts……cue £5m signing this afternoon!!

Us being bottom at Christmas in no way helps:

    - Them attract investment
    - Them sell the club

They have to try to keep us competitive whatever their long term motives are. Relegation doesn't help anyone at all

    Charlton are clearly not worthless.

This. Can't see them desperate to sign players to long term contracts right now.  Hopefully I'm wrong.

It’s worth considerably less than essentially every other club at the level. Because we don’t own the assets

Keeping our powder dry infers that we've been biding our time waiting to make an offer. Any of our 'Sweaty' contingents linked with Holsgrove on social media?
Implies  (apologies if this is rude to point out)
Don't know mate, but if you insist.

To save time can we just copy and paste the original Dykes thread. Can’t wait for the window to close so we can see what the actual plan was. I’m not seeing categorically better.

One thing I will say is similar to when Bowyer galvanised us when the club was up for sale and created a siege mentality. I think Jones has similar attributes to be able to turn a negative situation like that into a positive one and not let the background noise interfere too much. As long as we have a competitive enough squad which I believe barring a few additions in midfield we do then I think we will be ok 🤞 😆😆

Oakwell Sports Advisory wasn't the big name signing I was hoping for 😁

It is a big name in terms of letter count however so there's something to celebrate

And yet whilst they’ve been looking for additional funding, they’ve spent on players and salaries.
