World Cup Every 2 years

There still seems to be this rumour of the FIFA World Cup being staged every other year. This would of course clash with the European Cup and a complete dent in our domestica game and the African Cup. I would be surprised if EUFA agreed with this proposal but assume they would be out voted…or would they? I was also surprised to see that Arsene Wenger has given his support to the twice a year WC. Has anyone heard anymore on this matter or is it now dead in the water along with Infantindo?

If it went back to 32 teams I’d have no problem with it being every two years .0

Pretty much impossible to host it every 2 years because of:
a) Confederation tournaments such as the Euro's, AFCON, Copa America that also have to be played.
b) World cup qualifying for some confederations takes ages.
Asia takes two years. Japan/Australia/South Korea etc played 16 qualifiers to get to the 2026 world cup.
South America played 18 qualifiers.
Then on top of that there are also further play off rounds for some countries.
There aren't enough slots in the calendar to play them quicker. So how can it be hosted every 2 years when it takes 2 years to qualify?3 -

Wenger can do one.Cheek of him saying about Infantino’s plans had to be thrown out. Didn’t hear you piping up before a few of the federations opposed it.And he suggested this two yearly tournament a while back.Think FIFA wanting every summer to be World Cup year alternating between men and women’s is a joke.1

It is money/greed pure and simple. The whole beauty of tournaments such as this is that they don't come around very often which means they are unique events which create lasting memories.
Having them every two years just completely takes away from that. You can also bet that it won't stop there, as soon as they get it to every two years they will be clamouring for it to be an annual tournament soon enough.
FIFA has billions of dollars sat in reserves and makes billions every year, this is just another example of a big organisation trying to extract every single penny they can. They don't care whether it ruins the product long term so long as they can make a few bob now.1 -
