If Nathan Redmond is the answer then what is the question? Don’t think Apter can exactly learn much from a winger who’s played 9 games in the last 3 years personally2

Hes never actually been particularly "anti loan" really, he has stated he prefers permanent signings where possible and has stuck to that, but if it comes down to it he's signed plenty on loan and given them a fair shake.fenaddick said:

I can't think of any times when he's actively turned down someone who would make us objectively better just because its a loan.
Its not a choice between Redmond and a loanee for the missing positions, he still wnats to sign someone better on a permanent basis for those roles instead of just shrugging and taking the easy/quick option straight away.2 -
If we are dead set on a RW then it needs to be better than Redmond. He’s obviously got a lot of talent, but you’re looking at choosing between him and Apter for a regular starting position
Apter had a terrible season last year and there’s question marks over his work ethic. You can absolutely argue he was unfortunate to fall out of favour so quickly based on his start and the RWB role not suiting him; but his subsequent loan at Bolton leaves a lot to be answered. If our other option is Redmond who has played very little football over the last 3 years, it’s asking for trouble imo

Yeah I don't think he's anti loan but he's pro academy. It probably does mean we miss out on some good young players but it also gives you the chance to maximise profits on players like Mbick, Fullah or even Anderson on a smaller scalethenewbie said:

Part of me is happy we’ve “lost out” on Kamara to be honest. His preferred destination was always Portsmouth and would always much prefer players that actually buy in and want to play for us and what we’re putting on the table. If reports are true and we were “outbid”, then I do hope we will be investing that same money elsewhere for other targets.I’d like to think NJ is smart enough and not naive enough to think that the “keeping our powder dry” comment was relating to getting Kamara signed, because I think even a blind man could see that was purely his agent at the time trying to squeeze as much money out of the deal as he could.0

I guess the question is what would everyone consider a "good" transfer window. We've addressed the left side defensive problems from last season, added couple of wide players in Alli and Grant, replaced Clarke with McNamara.
However, I think most would agree that one of the biggest problems we had last season was a lack of creativity and/or control in midfield. I think that has to be addressed otherwise I think we'd have to say it's been a pretty average window.
A Holsgrove type would push it towards a "good" transfer window. I think if we chuck a couple of PL loans including a target man (that's not Dykes) it starts to become a "great" window for us.
We do have to be realistic though...
Sheff U, Blackburn have signed 2 players (and was Fevrier)
Wrexham and Cardiff have only signed 1 so far
PNE, Derby and Lincoln have both signed 3 so far3 -

For me a good window would be a decent RW and a clear upgrade CM coming in. In terms of outgoings, a great window would be selling Tanto, Asiimwe, Kanu and JRC. I suspect we end up loaning the first 2, Kanu goes for a disappointing fee and JRC is still in the building5 -
I think a good window would be us bringing in a RW on a permanent. The dream would be JRS but I personally can’t see it but someone of a similar level if they’re out there and available to us. I’d like to see us bring in a midfielder, someone like Holsgrove who is still clearly our intended and main target. Also wouldn’t be against signing Chalobah as well just to bolster the midfield a bit more, but obviously a case of keeping him injury free more than anything. I wouldn’t actually be against us bringing Coady back either but not sure how likely that would be this time round, but I really think he helped stabilise the midfield at times. Not the quickest obviously but offers class and control. Then I agree another target man type striker.
