Which side does Alli operate on again?
Hopefully they've got a doctor to undertake serious medical procedures and Alli can stick to football

I guess the question is what would everyone consider a "good" transfer window. We've addressed the left side defensive problems from last season, added  couple of wide players in Alli and Grant, replaced Clarke with McNamara.

However, I think most would agree that one of the biggest problems we had last season was a lack of creativity and/or control in midfield. I think that has to be addressed otherwise I think we'd have to say it's been a pretty average window.

A Holsgrove type would push it towards a "good" transfer window. I think if we chuck a couple of PL loans including a target man (that's not Dykes) it starts to become a "great" window for us.

We do have to be realistic though...

Sheff U, Blackburn have signed 2 players (and was Fevrier)
Wrexham and Cardiff have only signed 1 so far
PNE, Derby and Lincoln have both signed 3 so far
I think a good window would be us bringing in a RW on a permanent. The dream would be JRS but I personally can’t see it but someone of a similar level if they’re out there and available to us. I’d like to see us bring in a midfielder, someone like Holsgrove who is still clearly our intended and main target. Also wouldn’t be against signing Chalobah as well just to bolster the midfield a bit more, but obviously a case of keeping him injury free more than anything. I wouldn’t actually be against us bringing Coady back either but not sure how likely that would be this time round, but I really think he helped stabilise the midfield at times. Not the quickest obviously but offers class and control. Then I agree another target man type striker. Would prefer someone other than Dykes but wouldn’t be too upset if we did bring him back in.
According to @Crispywood, Kermogant's coming back!

Redmond is ex England international (1 cap) and who remembers Pep going mental at him at how good he is? There is obviously something he has talent wise and maybe NJ can get it out. Short term deal until 1st January isn’t a problem, bring experience to the dressing room as well.
    In 2017 mate
Yes my point is the guy has talent and maybe NJ can get the spark back. Try seeing the glass half full and be more positive instead of judging a player who hasn’t even put on the shirt.

Early in the window the mantra “we don’t sign players in priority order”, but three days until our first competitive match and 10 days until the league starts, we really need to get a CM(s) in.

I'm surprised Rueben Reid didnt get a run out in pre--season. He has more physicallity at RW than Fullah who is normally a ten.

Forget any other position that we might have to compromise on trying to sign, personally I wouldn't want us to sign any player unless he was 1st or at best 2nd choice, THE priority, THE necessity is a creative, ball passing midfielder. If ALL our available budget, both transfer and wages went on a very good one, then that would do for me, this is what we desperately need, and we all know it

.. as an aside .. we don't need a box to box player, Carey can fill that role as long as he has good support alongside, Coventry and/or Docherty are decent enough as a defensive midfielder .. i m o with a good supply from midfield the goals will come, equally, the defence will be stronger and more confident.

errrr Goalkeeper is another story though

Been here for an hour. No sign of TC so I think the deal has fallen through.

Is Redmond the player we are actually signing? Or was it name thrown out because its easy & convenient because he is already training?
Is he even still training with us?

    Not played in recent friendlies.

Even at 50 Kermorgant would do a better job than Dykes

Got injured and subbed off at Gillingham. If he’s still there we might be helping him return from injury as a goodwill gesture because he got injured playing for us

I know there’s another thread for this but once again to put some perspective on our window, just seen Soton linked with that Swansea striker for 20m, and earlier today, Boro linked with a keeper for 14m.  That’s after securing Lankshear

I know they’re not in our mini league or rivals within the Championship when it comes to staying up, but that’s a huge disparity to go up against.

The money swilling about in the game is crazy

In fairness, Boro are just spending the money they’ve made this summer on selling Hackney and the Morgan Rogers sell on. Parachute payment teams always have way too much money but other than that it’s only really Stoke going crazy so far

Yes, it does if its just him that we sign, if it's him plus others then I wouldn't be too concerned

No, it was keep all the rose-tinted glass wearers still salivating over the prospect of a mega CM signing.

This is why we need to get much better at selling players, and really should be pushing the boat out as much as possible to secure Ramsay and TC on new contracts

And as a club we need to get better at selling players for inflated fees. For too long we’ve had our best players not tied down long enough and our duff signings tied into long contracts. It shows how long we’ve been mismanaged and stuck in League One. It’ll probably take Championship consolidation for 2-3 years and finding a few more Ramsay type gems before we ever actually see a top price for our best players.

since selling Darren Bent I can only really think of Lookman who we managed to sell for a big arguably inflated transfer fee?

QPR buying Macaulay Bonne for £2m was £1,999,999 too much so would say we did amazingly well there, 2million percent his value and we got him back on a free!!!!!

Yes, good point.  I do believe it creates a distortion that ripples through the leagues however.  If for example we were looking to take a player of Boro who is surplus to requirements but with a bit of experience at this level (for argument’s sake), I’m sure the knock on effect of them having to spend what they’ve had to on Lankshear (regardless of the Hackney money) would hit us

With these prices I’m just think, where does it end

Burstow fee was decent too but again our decent sales are £2m when they need to be closer to £10m

Re-signing Bonne on a free is still one of the worst bits of business ever done in the history of football.

Imagine signing someone on a free and still ending up feeling ripped off.
