Weird this morning how thes posts have dwindled, like people are waiting for something to actually happen now.
It’s page 469. All the old favourites have been done to death, the arguments have all happened and there’s not really much left to say.
Do you reckon Dobbo is an upgrade on our midfield?

Shame no one would probably take Burke with his injury record. Would be fine with Gough as the 4th CB.
In theory, once Edwards is back we have 6 centre backs including Gough as Bell moves back to that left centre back position.
I hope we don’t see Bell at LCB in a back 4 very much. I think Jones and Koumetio are the starters, if Koumetio can’t play then Jones will move across to LCB and then Sichenje or Burke will play next to him

Think Bell is there as a left back option and then will play LCB whenever we switch to a back 3
I thought Bell was pretty good when he played LCB last season and got injured regularly when he played as left wing back.
LCB in a three and LCB in a four are very different. He was effectively playing as a really narrow, defensive full back last year. He’d need to be more dynamic in a four

Him and JRC feel like the most dispensable extra player but also two that are going to be very hard to find suitors for
JRC is dispensable in terms of what he's shown so far but he's not in terms of position. If we're only bringing in one central midfielder then JRC rounds us up to the 4 we need in that position. I'd be very nervoud if we shipped JRC out to only repace him with one CM. In terms of positional overloads it's very much Olaofe who's killing us at the moment. 4th choice left winger, 5th choice striker is not a good place to be
Will be difficult to get rid of - has really only had one good season at Stockport and did nothing for them when loaned back to them and had something to prove.

It's critical we keep the page count up, team. Every bit helps
The next two pages will be crucial.
Lets just see where we are on saturday night!
2nd round Carabao Cup, looking forward to Derby...🙏

This is how teams get relegated. Gough is nowhere near a fully fit Burke's level.
Never seen Gough put a foot wrong tbh.
Agreed most times I've seen him I think he's got what it takes this kid just needs experience.

No need to announce it if it isn’t changing

is that a new signing being photographed in front of the JS stand?

No, it's some guys checking the goal line technology last Friday.

For similar exclusives visit the museum when it is open Friday 11 to 2.30
Keep winding them up😂 . You never know one friday I might bump into you again, with a picture for the museum of 47👍

Yes but don't destroy his confidence by throwing him in the deep end - NJ is usually pretty good at nurturing young players.

Burke is currently 5th choice CB, jones and koumetio being first choice with Collins and bell the back ups, personally I would be absolutely fine with moving Burke on and having Gough as the 5th choice - would free up funds, wages and importantly a squad space to spend elsewhere.

Ultimately the issue will be that no team will take him on at his current wage given his injury history, which is why it was a bit silly giving him a 2 year contract in the first place.
Is he though Jones and Koumetio look like our starting two, but bell isn’t really a CB in a 4 and personally think he’s looked a bit off it this preseason, Sichenje is coming off a long injury and is a unknown quantity Burke could very well be 3rd.

Bell Koumetio Sichenje all have injury issues as well no guarantee they last the season I personally am happy to us an extra squad place on Burke knowing there’s a good chance 2/3 of them could be injured at any point and it maintains the quality of the starting XI unfair on Gough to be chucked in the deep end and he’s also not going to bring the same quality as our other CB’s

I think Burke will start as soon as the game at West Ham, could see us going to a defensive back 5 with Ramsay wing back and Burke RCB

Friend of mine is a big Luton fan. He said Burke when fit (the big problem) is a lower prem centre back, but constantly feels like he's getting back to full fitness so very rarely see the best of him.

Said if he could have maintained even a slight level of fitness he'd not have been with Charlton or Luton.

As good as Gough looks, he's not for me at Burkes level yet.

The issue is if/when we switch to a back 3. We're likely to do that in backs to the wall games anyway but it's really not outside the realms of possibility that we have a bad start in the 4231, don't score any goals and revert. Jones has tried the diamond before and it's not even seen the half out and the box lasted for a few games in 24/25 before the old shape came back. Jones also liked to start in a back 3 and bring on Fevrier to change us to a shape with more width as the game went on so that's likely to be a way we play at times as well. With that in mind we have Jones, Ramsay, Bell, Koumetio, Collins and Burke as senior back 3 options, plus Mesik once Edwards is fit. Putting Ramsay there might not always be an option if McNamara isn't up to it and we don't want to put Apter at RWB which further reduces the numbers. Ramsay, Bell and Collins have all had repeated spells of injury as well so I'd be nervous letting Burke go and relying too much on Gough for what I think will be an inevitable move back to 352 at some point

'Backs to the wall' may well mean 5 defenders on the pitch, so not 3 at the back but 5. But as we have no proper wingbacks, barring possibly Mesik, in the squad it cannot be a back 3 in other circumstances. Unless we want Apter and TC as wingbacks again, God forbid.

Bloke on my train this morning who looked like Nathan Jones but if he'd been put through a microwave.

Not sure if this is a sign but I felt it night be relevant in some way

Plymouth looking to sign Will Evans from Mansfield, another potential home for DK looking more unlikely, madness to me that none of the higher spending league one sides have picked him up
He may need to play for us at this rate. What are the options? Godden, Kelman or Leaburn? Grant will play out wide, Mbick won’t be ready for the start of the season. I expect Tanto will be shipped out.
We need to get him out to open up the space for what we need to come in, we’re already struggling on registration space. Suspect we will have to drop our asking price this month until we find a taker
I can think of a few others I’d rather see ditched over Kanu.
Its not necessarily who we want to get rid of, irs who CAN we get rid of. Olaofe, Burke, JRC are all ones i think we would get rid if we could. But the same reasons we don't want them means no-one else does either.
So 3 players we brought in last year you want to get rid of.

What does that say about our recruitment.

And maybe why the owners aren't giving NJ the funds he needs. If money is tight would you give your manager a'few more million to waste on injury prone or players that are not up to it.

"Yea that'll tell him, don't give him any money so he learns to spend it better. I don't care if we go down because of it, at least Jones will have learned his lesson"

Pack it in you absolute sausage

Think you’ll find our recruitment and Management kept us up last season defying all odds. Leaburn & Campbell this season will have to prove that choosing football as a career path was the right choice. Good seasons due for both of them!
Looks like Kamara close to joining Portsmouth. What a desperately disappointing window but we just have to get on with it. If we drop down to league 1 which is highly likely not owning any of the assets we are not going to be appealing to any potential owners or investors .

And again with transfers, not all of them will go well.

Show me a single club where every player they've signed has had a positive impact and it's worked out

    Fine.

I'll look forward to meeting you on here next August when we're discussing how we are going to ship out Alli, Koumetio, Schenje et all so that we can bring in the much needed midfielder.

'We' in this case being some people on a forum. There's been absolutely no indication that Jones wants to move on JRC or Burke, even with Olaofe it's more assumption in the context of who we've brought in and how much he's played

471 pages 4 signings so by the time we get to page 500 the 5th signing will be here.
