I know Dykes is marmite, but will we sign better than him, with our budget?
    No.

Millwall fans will love him when he shaves his hair off.

Will probably get a tattoo of a lion on his head.

He’s going to be their 3/4 choice striker and would’ve likely been our first.

    He’s not good enough

I think the fact we offered him a long term deal suggests probably not.
I quite liked him at times but not all that bothered about missing out on him. I think the ego takes a bit more of a hit just because he’s chosen Millwall over us but can’t really blame him given both clubs situations at the moment.

This is the point. The pond we're fishing in means that Dykes was one of the viable options and I don't think we'll do any better. Hope to be proved wrong

  • We have so many strikers on the books we don’t have space for him anyway.

Everyone knows where the key areas are and it’s not some fucking lump up top.

Offering him a long term deal is odd when NJ has said we have 2 signings left and he wants a CM & RW. There’s clearly more going on than they’re willing to say

Would we rather up our offer for Dykes or try something else. I don’t think many fans were excited to see Dykes back.

I’d have taken him as a 4th striker but not on wages higher than our first offer.

Millwall unfortunately have more cash to throw about than us. I can’t see him getting many minutes because he is quite simply a bottom 6 Championship ST at best.

    Godden
    Kelman
    Leaburn
    Kanu
    Mbick
    Grant
    Tanto

We currently have 7 players that can play as the number 9 in a formation where it appears we are playing 1 striker. We need to offload a couple not sign more.

Look at there attacking options he’s worse than all of them

Millwall are a much stronger outfit than us so would assume if he’s good enough for them he’d of been good for us. If Kamara goes to Portsmouth tomorrow think eventually we’ll have to resort to loans.

You're comparing the role Dykes plays with Tanto, Kanu and Kelman?

So he's gone there to sit on the bench and hope someone gets injured?

Nailed on Derby day winner from Dykes now he's gone there
Dont really matter, they would have won anyway, and it makes sense signing for a Scottish team.

The cope on here is insane

Have people watched Leaburn so far in the PSFs?

Dykes would have improved our squad quite easily

I think he’s the rotation option for Coburn and Ivanovic who they use as big physical players. I’m guessing he’d have been a bench player here too and they’ll be offering more money, can’t really blame him for it

Obviously not but if we're playing a 4-3-3 we will only be playing 1, so the type doesn't really matter for my point. I'd rather give Mbick/Leaburn a chance in either case. Our transfer budget needs to be spent on a CM & RW not Dykes.

Youth Bias unfortunately. Dykes twice the target man Leaburn is

Genuinely delighted with Dykes news. Doesn’t shy away from putting in a shift but nowhere near effective enough in front of goal imho (proven by his record statistically). Focus has to remain on CM and RW squad size considered.

What a nice lovely club we are letting Dykes train with us before he goes to them lot down the road 🥺🥺🥺

Godden is miles better than Dykes. The rest of our strikers not so much. Kelman, Miles have got potential but haven’t realised it yet.

Maybe he would’ve, but watching us play with Dykes on the pitch was often very painful. We can’t do another season of lumping it to him and Leaburn and hoping it sticks - we’ll go down like that.

Dykes is pretty solid in the air, runs around quite a bit, but shoots and passes like a League One player. He just isn’t that good.

He is, just about, a viable option in this league. If he wanted more money than we were prepared to offer then I’m really not too fussed about him not signing back on.

Let’s hope the recruitment team have been looking at other options.
