Worse waste of money than Ahadme
A poor signing yes, but I wouldn’t go that far. Olaofe scored the winner at Sheffield United and had a couple of games where he looked bright. I’m lost for words on Ahadme.

Did the ITK's say something was imminent a few days back?

I've totally lost count of when or where these things were said

StJohnsHill & Gavin Carter both indicated someone was very close but in retrospect, feels deliberately vague. We live in hope!

I wonder if Tanto going out, means will be announcing an incoming?
    Would expect so.

I am guessing it will be a league two loan
I think L1 is achievable. Mansfield are losing a striker for example

    This squad gets relegated.
It’s a better squad than we had last season, and that squad didn’t get relegated.
The problem you have, is that the other squads are better (bar Blackburn).
Lincoln? They have lost their manager and captain

Preston don’t even have a squad yet so that’s another. Plus Bolton and Lincoln we have better squads than at the moment
Cardiff have signed a grand total of two so far as well, one of which was making a loan permanent.
There are definitely better squads than ours but there's worse as well.

Burke getting a first XI shirt number tells me he ain't going anywhere! 4 should've gone to Coventry and 6 to Koumetio. Burke left with 12 then.

Agree with others, that Knibbs & Doc should swap numbers.

Would've thought 15 or 16 for Mesik instead of 18.

I hope so especially when NJ was interviewed about going back in for Dykes with an improved offer and he said we have six strikers so one would have to go before we get one in.  So with us missing out on Dykes who is going to be the Striker and with no official news on Kelman and his return we need someone in asap…oh he better be good now Ross Stewart that would be a HUGE statement of intent

I have no issues with the effort of Tanto and there were times when it looked like he was clicking last season but I guess it hasn't really worked out. The Ahadme signing was a joke and Ipswich were the ones who found that funniest.

Giving a CB the number 12 would be prison worthy

Tanto had the physical profile that NJ likes but he's waaay too raw technically to succeed in the Champ. Would expect somewhere in the middle of L1 with us paying his wages.

Yesterday: no one wants Dykes back.

Today: Dykes is the new Haaland because he’s signed elsewhere.
Because he's signed for them lot. If he signed for anyone else it'd be "never mind"

A week for our new super midfielder that we’ve been patiently waiting for to come in who’s so good but teams with a bigger budgets don’t want,to get up to speed with NJ philosophy. This is reminiscent of the we couldn’t get things over the line bollox in the past. Getting Carter to come out with a little statement was perfect because he’s such a charlton man he couldn’t possibly be telling people what they want to hear. Where’s Rodwell these days?.

I think the point is that far too many people are unjustly criticising Dykes for not being good enough when he patently is. He’s gone to a club that will be in or at least around the playoffs and although might not be first choice I’m fairly confident that he’ll get plenty of game time off the bench.  Had he joined us I think he’d have featured far more than people are suggesting. Jones wanted him. We know that and offered him the terms he was on last season with us. Millwall have obviously offered more and are a better bet footballing wise. How painful is all of that.

Shame we've missed out on Dykes, especially now we're playing with wingers. He did a good job for us and as it stands it means we're starting the season reliant on a 35 year old Matt Godden who spent most of last season out injured, Leaburn who struggled at this level last season and possibly Grant. Kelman is out for months most likely, we're probably going to move on Kanu and Olaofe and Mbick is young and also returning from injury. For all we really do need a CM and a RW we're one injury away from a pretty light looking frontline

Would agree only I think it's light now for the reasons you give. We need a starting central striker imho.

Have we found the whereabouts of the international superstar that was arriving on Monday? Did he board the wrong plane?

We don’t have to get rid of players to sign someone. We can buy as many players as we want, but we can only register 25 of them.

Not good enough for us, but good enough for a side chasing promotion.
I dont think they'll be up there vying for promotion this season
I have you right. Think they'll be mid table this year
I actually agree with this. Mid table with a slightly outside chance of nicking top 8.

I get that - but I don’t think it always works like that in practice. I think a lot more is taken into account including how having a bloated squad can affect training/team morale etc.

I think maybe the point is that we can sign someone before Tanto goes out on loan? ie he doesn't have to go before we announce a new signing?

I'll be honest Dykes looked like he had something about him still. I'd have kept him if he had any consistency about his game but in reality he rarely did. Fingers crossed Leaburn can stay fit or we have another 9 ready to join?

I’d be happy with that. The league is a lot stronger this season and we have a lot of new young players who will take time to adapt to the championship.
