The truth is that we probably can’t afford 2 new championship quality midfielders. I'd have George Wickens any day of the week over Kaminski, and I reckon Jack Moylan (now signed for Cardiff funny enough) & Rubin Colwill walk into our team, Cardiff also have a couple of tidy defenders.
Saying their squads are better is a stretch, but I don't think we are exactly head and shoulders above them either to be honest.
Lincoln’s squad was mostly built on a bottom half league 1 budget. Ours is much better and I’d be shocked if Lincoln weren’t 24th given they’ve also lost their manager and best player this summerBolton were play off winners like us. But they’ve lost 26 goals and 19 assists from their squad last season that came from loan players that they haven’t got back. And their manager is moaning that they’re struggling to bring players in so I doubt they’ve replaced that loss yet, let alone made the jump from league 1 to championship level squad
Last years promotion teams all stayed up but Birmingham and Wrexham threw frankly unprecedented (for promotion sides) amount of money around. Even we spent more than any of them have thus far this year and we were fighting to survive til nearly the very end.
For all the weaknesses we have, we are a Championship side, even if its a poor one. The three promoted teams are not, yet.2 -

That would only then give us three. I can possibly see one of Doc or Cov going (maybe - all the signs however point to them both staying). I would imagine he wants 4 to cover the 2 roles. Mwamba looks a talent but he may benefit from a loan. JRC is the most likely out of the central mids to go imo.Diebythesword said:

He absolutely can. He's not put a foot wrong so far in pre- season. Not even having this bollocks about not having experience. Poyet, Cousins, Gomez and Konsa didn't have any before making their debuts (and no, I'm not suggesting that Mwamba is better or worse than any of them, just that the idea of "experience" is irrelevant if you are good enough)Diebythesword said:

Last season Oxford would have seen us spend 10 million pounds and still be the lowest spenders of the window (of promoted teams) by a large margin, and none the promoted teams have come close yet. We've also (already) spent more this window than Oxford did last summer. Money doesn't mean everything of course but its a false equivalence to compare us to them honestly.GreenWithEnvy said:

Lyndon Dykes and Conor Coady were a huge part of why we stayed up last season
Dykes is a proper centre forward. He doesn’t score many goals but he holds the ball up and keeps you up the pitch. I get the whole lack of a creative midfielder point but I would also be very concerned that Leaburn is not mobile or clever enough to do that role.Grant is a very good player but biggest concern is how we bring him into the game7 -

I interpreted the article as Chalobah has all but signed but we'd like another CM & RW on top of that, assuming this is the player where a medical/being close hints have nodded towards & possibly the delay in-between given his medical history.
So Chalobah before the weekend & Redmond when fit......or a different RW if they become available/ Redmond breaks down.0 -
