It'll be interesting to see how committed NJ is to the more expansive style of football he's hinted at throughout pre-season.
Ironically, it probably would've suited someone like Tanto. I don't think it helped his game having to track back so much and spend large parts of matches facing his own goal.
You could easily see Jones reverting to his tried-and-tested, tough-to-beat formula if we get thumped early on while trying to play a more attacking style.
If that happens then, like Tanto, how will it affect the likes of Alli and Kamara? It'll be interesting to see how it all pans out.

This is my concern, I am very happy with the switch in formation as I think we will create more and be easier on the eye, however I can see it taking a little bit of time to embed and can see NJ ditching straight back to a back 5 if we lose a couple of games - problem being we now don’t really have the players to play with wingbacks.Valley11 said:It'll be interesting to see how committed NJ is to the more expansive style of football he's hinted at throughout pre-season.

I hope he fully commits to the “evolution” and gives it a chance to come together.8 -
I have no problem with the 3-5-2 - the formation wasn’t the problem, it was how slow we countered and a sheer lack of urgency in attack and creativity most games.12

I only have a vague memory of this but don’t EFL clubs anonymously submit their player budgets so they can work out where they sit compared to the rest of the league? Carter said this last season. I’d guess that we have upped our budget to that level of the league based on last seasons numbers. But then when we get this seasons numbers it will probably be lower as everyone is spending more. Think we will have a bigger budget than Bolton and Lincoln, similar to Pompey and Cardiff but still a bottom 6 budgetSouthLincsAddick said:

Must be honest, when i thought of potential outs at the end of last season, I didn’t give much thought it could be Campbell.6

Charlton’s wage bill will naturally bob around the lower end of the comparison table because we habitually bring so many young players through the ranks. I suspect that because they quite often get to progress so early they are not necessarily underpaid but equally won’t be overpaid. Because of that policy I’d be more concerned if collectively our wage bill was anywhere near the top half because that would mean there are some serious earners in the squad and that’s poor financial policy for any Championship team because the TV money isn’t sufficient to support that.Danny Addick said:NJ “Last year, as was documented, we had probably the second lowest budget. I’m not sure I agree with Jones saying we are an established championship club yet. A couple of boring mid table finishes then I’ll be more comfortable21

When we were promoted via the playoffs I think it’s fair to say that most of us thought we had very much a league one squad and our recruitment up until January didn’t really alter that fact. Tanto was bought by us because we thought / hoped he could make the step up and sadly that hope didn’t materialise. Prior to signing for us he did very well at Stockport, enough for us to take a calculated gamble on him and it’s strange that he didn’t do better in his loan. Confidence knocked maybe but I think Lincoln are looking past his bad season with us and signing the player we thought we’d signed. They don’t have a big budget and I think it’s a calculated gamble for them too. They’ll start next week with basically a league one squad and I wouldn’t write them off as relegation certs just yet. We were the same until January and we survived.fenaddick said:

We're a much bigger club than Lincoln though. Whether it's fair or not, players will look at the likes of us, Cardiff and Bolton, and see Championship teams, but see Lincoln as a L1 team. A small stadium, and I imagine a basic training ground too.ShootersHillGuru said:
