Yeah and we're definitely the only club looking for a central midfielder or two within a lower tier budget.Braziliance said:Still think we need two central midfielders and Chalobah shouldn't be one of them.
If it was something like Holsgrove and unknown sexy midfielder in, Doc out and Chalobah to fill the back up roll, perfect.
If it is a case of the squad staying the same, but we manage only one new midfielder and Chalobah, I don't think it is enough personally and can see us scrambling for another midfielder in January.
In their defence though, they've only had 299,520 minutes to manage this though. These things take patience.2 -

Top of the 4th quarter isn't too dissimilar to 2nd or third lowest. Just moves us up to 5th or 6th lowest.Danny Addick said:NJ “Last year, as was documented, we had probably the second lowest budget. With the teams that have come up now and the investment that is going on, we won’t be too dissimilar to that [again].
GC “We want to move the wage bill up towards the third quartile. Whether we will be bottom of the third quartile or top of the fourth quartile, I don’t know. We were second or third lowest wage bill last season.”
Which is it??3 -

I think he’s probably right though. We have options good enough to make do at RW for a few weeks to make sure we get the right person in, the midfield is the more pressing concernsam3110 said:

That’s exactly the same as players looking at Norwich and Millwall for example and see them as a better bet than us. That certainly makes life harder in recruiting as I think we’re currently finding out but Lincoln dominated their division last season. Have momentum and no doubt will instil a siege mentality. Assuming they’re going to be whipping boys is I think a little arrogant.killerandflash said:
We're a much bigger club than Lincoln though. Whether it's fair or not, players will look at the likes of us, Cardiff and Bolton, and see Championship teams, but see Lincoln as a L1 team. A small stadium, and I imagine a basic training ground too.ShootersHillGuru said:
When we were promoted via the playoffs I think it’s fair to say that most of us thought we had very much a league one squad and our recruitment up until January didn’t really alter that fact. Tanto was bought by us because we thought / hoped he could make the step up and sadly that hope didn’t materialise. Prior to signing for us he did very well at Stockport, enough for us to take a calculated gamble on him and it’s strange that he didn’t do better in his loan. Confidence knocked maybe but I think Lincoln are looking past his bad season with us and signing the player we thought we’d signed. They don’t have a big budget and I think it’s a calculated gamble for them too. They’ll start next week with basically a league one squad and I wouldn’t write them off as relegation certs just yet. We were the same until January and we survived.fenaddick said:

Lincoln City will delight in being underrated and underestimated.
Every point gained will be a victory, and they might well have a surprisingly good start to boost their confidence.
No game is ever a given in this division.18 -
I expect to see Chalobah sign today, given Jones interview & potentially Kamara/Edozie in by Sunday/Monday with a premier League loan in central midfield also being eyed up, I don't think Holsgrove is going to happen7

I don't see them as whipping boys but I do still think that realistically they are probably going back down. They may very well do what we did last year and get off to a flying start based on their momentum and togetherness from promotion but also like us will find a full Championship season, against established Championship sides and the ex-Prem teams with their squads and finances is a very different prospect.ShootersHillGuru said:

I think they will fight hard and probably take a few scalps along the way but staying up will be one hell of an achievement.4 -
Last week NJ said he would like 1 midfielder and 1 right winger. It's now looking like we'll be signing 2 midfielders and 1 right winger.
This must mean a midfielder will be leaving.1 -
The driest of powders possible.17

Or he was already counting Chalobah in his "squad"Bolderhumphreyreid said:Last week NJ said he would like 1 midfielder and 1 right winger. It's now looking like we'll be signing 2 midfielders and 1 right winger.

I think that has to happen in terms of squad size. He’s also talking up Mwamba (who doesn’t count to squad registration rules) so I think he will be the 5th CM optionBolderhumphreyreid said:Last week NJ said he would like 1 midfielder and 1 right winger. Is that just your assessment of the situation or do you have an inside track ? It’s very specific ?YannTheMann said:I expect to see Chalobah sign today, given Jones interview & potentially Kamara/Edozie in by Sunday/Monday with a premier League loan in central midfield also being eyed up, I don't think Holsgrove is going to happen0 -
Could it be they don’t actually know where they sit in player budget league table yet, especially if the window hasn’t closed yet and GC is being optimistic and NJ being pessimistic. I don’t know, none of us know.Danny Addick said:
Both of those quotes were made this week regarding our budgetSouthLincsAddick said:
I only have a vague memory of this but don’t EFL clubs anonymously submit their player budgets so they can work out where they sit compared to the rest of the league? If I’ve not completely imagined that then perhaps GC made those comments before the results are back or is holding back.Danny Addick said:NJ “Last year, as was documented, we had probably the second lowest budget. Oh I agree. They’ll certainly be in the mix along with us I fear.thenewbie said:

People rabbiting on about Lincoln like they’re San Marino. We haven’t beaten them in our last 4 meetings.24

No inside track to our club annoyingly, just trying to put a timeline together from Nathan's interviews over the last 24 hours with Cawley, sounds to me like Chalobah is all but done from the way he talks about the player, the other 2 are much less clear but that was just how I perceived his words1 -
Sounded like Chalobah done, another CM close and a right winger before the end of the window.9

I got the vibe that the winger is the one we could see by the end of the weekend and the other CM signing to happen towards the end of the window, but we'll see I suppose!1 -
Yeah I took it as that way round and it's not Kamara coming in to play RW.LargeAddick said:Sounded like Chalobah done, another CM close and a right winger before the end of the window.0 -
My QPR mate reckons Kolli is a good shout for a loan, fallen out with manager.0

Could be a scenario of Bristol City sacking Skubala and Lincoln sacking Cohen et al and then bringing back Skubala and then they stay up.Crispywood said:
We didn’t lose Jones they lost Skubala. They’ve sold their best player in Moylan.Henry Irving said:Just as we didn't go down, as predicted by many, last season I wouldn't write Lincoln off completely.
their defence consisted of 3 34 year olds who will likely drop off in performance. As much as I want to be respectful to Lincoln I’m also a realist
Flashbacks to Luton 19/20..

I'm getting Jordan Cousins breakthrough vibes with Mwamba.14

Not sure about Chalobah, if that’s all we bring in in midfield we’ll be in serious trouble.6

Was impressed with him at The Valley when he came on , offered more than Saito had. Think he's another that plays off the left though?SuperCliveMendonca said:My QPR mate reckons Kolli is a good shout for a loan, fallen out with manager.
