Then we end up signing someone even more left field 🤣🤣
Honestly looks very comfortable on the ball and looks like a Nathan Jones type of player 100%0 -

Hard to know from a video but 6 mins of almost exclusively forward passes from single season has me excited. I’d challenge you create that using our current midfield, combined, across their entire careers.
I don’t think we need a fancy-dan trickster - we need a relentless pivot that can get the ball moving the right direction constantly.11 -
I get what you're saying but not sure I agree. So many times last season the issue was a lack of guile, a lack of quality in the middle. This guy looks great at playing in front of Jones and Billy and I'm sure his bustling runs forward will create.daveydanger said:Hard to know from a video but 6 mins of almost exclusively forward passes from single season has me excited. But I was really hoping we'd sign a 'quarter back' like Holsgrove. Someone who can put his foot on the ball, look for a run from Godden/Alli etc and play them in.
Ouma looks good and I hope we sign him. I think we also need a Holsgrove though.

My worry is that @Redrobo has been sold a pup to smoke him out to see if he can be trusted with information. Hope that's wrong. Could we also sign Holsgrove, maybe Doc or Coventry are moving on?2

I know everyone wants a creative midfielder, but honestly just someone who can drive the ball forward a bit and unlock our own players to provide more creativity, will be enormous.Valley11 said:

Ouma looks good and I hope we sign him. I think we also need a Holsgrove though. We do have creative players, but having a centre midfield who couldn’t keep the ball or push out just meant they weren’t utilised properly, and able to show off their skill.
We saw it with sichenje last season, who was so positive in finding those forward balls. When we do that we take pressure off the team and actually start taking the game to the opposition.Too much last season our midfield were overrun and when they won the ball they didn’t know what to do with it.The whole team gets better with some quality midfield players, I don’t think they need to be all that ‘creative’ necessarily just a bit of confidence and quick forward play/ quality.6 -
I’d be very surprised if we signed chalobah, Ouma and Holsgrove - squad spaces start to become a real issueLargeAddick said:My worry is that @Redrobo has been sold a pup to smoke him out to see if he can be trusted with information. I think Ouma looks very much like the Docherty upgrade. Lots of running around and smashing people in that compilation, but obviously with added quality on the ball and carrying the ball
I think Holsgrove was our Coventry upgrade, but we maybe aren’t getting him so have brought in Chalobah as a stop gap, and will probably still be looking for that type of player in future windows. Would love us to still get Holsgrove and really transform the midfield, but if that happens I think Coventry would be on his way out

I'd love to get him and JH. That would totally revitalise things. Would mean you'd need to find another slot from selling Doc or JRC probably.LargeAddick said:My worry is that @Redrobo has been sold a pup to smoke him out to see if he can be trusted with information. Everything alright? Making miserable comments all day 😂Not everyone is out to get you. Take a chill pill0 -
Ouma looks like he'd align with what Nathan said about wanting a dominant midfielder.0

Don't want that though surely? Two injury prone right backs and we will just end up like we did when Edwards got injured last season.NabySarr said:
Burke can play right back and he is fit, for now anywayCAFCsayer said:

last bit of info from me. Laterrrrrrr
If Ramsay is injured then we will have to make do with McNamara, Burke and maybe Sichenje can probably play there0 -

Is Chalobah our Coventry alternative/upgrade and Ouma is Docherty’s?Getting Chalobah on a free may have meant we can spend more on a fee for another CM, rather than buying two lesser players for smaller fees.
This was talked about last summer, did we need Knibbs and JRC, or should we have used the money to sign one better player?1 -

Indeed it's a slightly silly part of modern football where midfielders are now either a 6, the sitting midfielder, or an 8, the box to box one, when surely the best midfielders can do both during a game, and are able to read play to know whether to attack or defend.0 -
So if Kenyan signs the big question what is the starting two in the middle:
Ouma and Docherty?
Or
Docherty and Chalobah?

The video makes him look like Kante. Let’s hope he plays like it!0

Not very well though. You don’t want him being the deeper midfielder picking the ball up from the centre backs.killerandflash said:

Bit bored of these concrete rumours. Can we go back to discussing Lyndon Dykes please9

Feels like Chalobah was plan B to Holsgrove then? Hopefully stays fit, but not sure he's known for his creativity in recent years.
Ouma looks like an energetic DM that excels at breaking up play but doesn't/hasn't contributed as much going forward. A Doc upgrade. Drives the ball forward, but assist and creative pass numbers are low.
Looks to play balls into channels behind the defence, could work with the likes of Grant/Alli/TC running in behind. Expect we are looking for the wingers to be the creative outlet feeding chances to Godden/Knibbs/Carey.
Quick addition to this, it looks like Ouma plays a more advanced role for the Kenyan National Team, Benni McCarthy may even have started him up front at least once, but stats aren't as easy to come by for these.1 -

I heard one about Alli and now this rumour.
I considered not saying anything, but was feeling like the rest of you and it was far too exciting not to share.
If you are a pessimist here is something to hold on to. It comes from a lady who lives abroad.11 -
Feels like Chalobah was indeed plan B as deep playmaker. Fair enough. If he’s decided not to join there’s not a lot we can doJdredsox said:Feels like Chalobah was plan B to Holsgrove then? Hopefully stays fit, but not sure he's known for his creativity in recent years.
