    Call me cynical but I don't actually think it's a good thing. Turki has been in football already and it didn't end well, in fact he owned Spanish team Almeria from 2019, got promoted in 2021, were relegated last season. Does he have the same love as hunger for football that he does for Boxing? Time will tell

    There are reports tonight (June 22) that a super-rich Saudi businessman is eyeing up Bristol City. Turki Alalshikh, often referred to as boxing’s biggest dealmaker, is understood to be interested in buying an English football club and has the Robins on his radar.

    When asked about this potential investment in the club, FLW’s Bristol City fan pundit Tom Sandy outlined the reasons why he is against a change in ownership.

    “I would be so disappointed,” Sandy told Football League World.

    “I think this is probably the worst thing that could happen to my club at this point in time.

    “Obviously, I really like our owners at the moment, Steve Lansdown and Jon Lansdown, the Lansdown group, what they’re doing, I think they’re supporters of the club — Jon definitely is, Steve is a Bristol boy.

    “The high performance centre, the stadium, the investment that’s been put in is brilliant, behind the scenes, [Steve] forks out money every year to keep us afloat financially and I don’t think you could ask for much more.

    “And when you compare that to the potential investment of the Saudi regime, obviously there are financial benefits, and the fact that they’ll be backed by the whole country, really.


    So guess he is no longer interested in Millwall?

    Just as well if the Spanners don't get taken over by the fella, they may get shipped lock stock to the Middle East. 

    Give it six months and all their toothless support will also be missing hands...

    At this point it is what Championship club is Turki Alalshikh linked with taking over now.

    Can't see the Derby one going anywhere. I know the current owner has been seeking investment but I can't see the fit between the lifelong fan season ticket holder David Clowes and someone like Turki Alashikh

    Just checked their summer business on the non Charlton transfers thread , 2 players back that they had on loan last season with Bobby Clark on a permanent and Sam Szmodics on loan again , a back up LB on a free and a German CM on free. 

    They do look light up top with Agyemang still injured.

    What is the deal with these professional tyre kickers?

    Derby isn't far away from me and a few fans I know said there was an expectation the deal might go through this week, but it now seems the buyers have pulled the plug at the last minute saying they wouldn't have enough time to prepare for the new season.

    Is it genuinely that hard to buy a football club nowadays or is there some other reason as to why these chancers always seem to float about without ever actually following through? I know you could argue there is no such thing as bad publicity but surely it has cost this guy a fortune in legal fees etc given the deal was apparently all but done.

    Lost to Freiburg,Valencia and Burton , Beat Alfreton and Mansfield , drew with Rotherham.

Am sure there some Billionaires from that part of the world who have genuine desires to have a Man City / PSG type project to play with - Yet when I see a Middle Eastern interested in an EFL club, alarm bells just ring, as dont think there has been a single takeover, or rumoured takeover that has remotely resulted in a happy ending for anyone at this level...? - No I dont mean that sort of happy ending either!!

    If you want a PSG model, pick up a team in Portugal, Belgium or that kind of second tier European league, and try it from there, I don’t think it can be done on one of the top 5 leagues, or from the Championship

    Marinakis took over Forest when they were treading water in the Championship and since then they've got to the PL, reached an FA Cup semi final, reached a European semi final and sold a player for 116m. 

    Sunderland and Ipswich's owners took them over when they were in league one and both are now in the PL (Ipswich becoming a yo-yo club), and Sunderland are in Europe this season.

    I'm not saying I have a mistrust of Billionaire owners in general that buy EFL clubs... I'm saying I've got a mistrust of Middle Easterns that do it, because at the moment the track record of any of them getting involved is diabolical... Might as well just skip the middle man and get the Administrators in.
