Hmmm I reckon we're still a bit short in the middle of the park. But in NJ we trust2

If it comes down to squad numbers I’d keep TC and loan out Apter.Addicksi said:
Would be a shame if we lose him as he'd be playing in a favored position this year but we need him to sign the contract. We also need to meet the squad numbers required, so it's tricky.AberystwythAddick said:Giving TC some time off will help as well this year. Last season he was our only attacking outlet we’ve now got Alli and Grant as well as Apter and who ever else will come i n on the wing. It should allow tc to have some games on the bench and some restObviously if TC says he’s not signing a new contract then we have to sell, but if we think there’s a decent chance he will sign one I think we should keep him.Would leave us a little unbalanced with left wingers but I think Alli will be fine playing on the right, he played there for Exeter and looked bright there in his short cameo on Saturday1 -

A Charltonlife transfer thread will send you loopy, it's just a matter of time.1

Out of 10. Our transfer business, both ways, to date. I am 7, leaning to 8, if we get some good outgoings. Apart from the likes of a Stoke and Wrexham (probably some others), most Clubs trying to upgrade on a modest budget7

Again, that's what I thought but I'm questioning everything now. An elaborate ruse? HmmTheHerminator said:

It looks like most other clubs haven’t been able to get as many through the door as we have so far eitherBarnehurstBob said:Out of 10. Our transfer business, both ways, to date. unless that’s changed relatively recently0 -
So, do Chalobah and Ouma play in the midfield together or does Coventry get a start with either ?0
-
Hard to know! Also, doc is still captain so id imagine he would start?0

Braziliance has found a new job as CAFC's SM Disruptor, if a rumour looks like it's gaining traction his job is to go onto various platforms and feed the line that it's not a player it's his friend...6

Happy with Ouma but it’ll be a real shame if we don’t sign Holsgrove.I don’t doubt that’s partly because the player thinks he can get a better deal/higher profile club, which is his prerogative. But I reckon he would be quality for us and just what we need.It will be interesting to see how he goes if he does pop up at Bramall Lane or similar.2

McCowatt starting tonight for Silkeborg0

What did TC do on Saturday that, to you, makes him un-droppable ? Yes he scored a good goal (then so did Godden) and he hit the bar. But tjat was all while playing on the left. in all his time on the right he did nothing special. He didnt beat his man or put a cross in. Neither did he cut in & shoot from the right. From what I could see all his best bits came from being on the left.NabySarr said:
Yes but until we sign that player, TC will be starting. Hence why I said we shouldn’t even be considering selling him now, with no new winger signed and Alli/Apter both not fully fit yetAberystwythAddick said:
Grant would be the starting lw if TC were to leave.NabySarr said:If TC does leave for Preston, I’d expect it to be late in the window. That gives us time to sign another winger, and also get Alli and Apter fully fit. If we lost TC this week I’d be quite concerned about our options for Saturday
We also play Preston later this month, surely we don’t let them have TC until after that. And if we start the season well and they don’t maybe TC will re-assess who he’d rather commit too
i don’t think we would be signing a winger to replace tc rather one to play on the right
So TC and Grant will start on the wings on Saturday, so a new signing would be replacing TC in the team.Plus, it’s only 1 game but if TC carries on like he did on Saturday against championship opposition then he will be starting and Grant will be either on the bench or playing up front
I've seen TC twice playing on the right this pre season & neither times did it work. No crosses nor cut insides.
If we are going to keep TC then we have to play him on the left. Imo if we can get £3m+ for him now I'd sell him.

It’s a shame that that’s probably the Holsgrove deal over, but honestly I’m pretty happy with our options in midfield and all over the pitch overall now. We look a lot stronger than last year with also more flexibility to rotate when needed which I like a lot.
I hope the fact that we’ve got players fighting for their place means we’ll see a better version of them when they do get the chance too.Really intrigued to see who we go for on the wing, but overall I have to say I’ve been impressed with how we’ve gone about things, I think the smartness of our signings thus far make this a really strong window.6 -
We said we needed two midfielders and we got two. I don’t overly mind a rotation of the 4 we have. If we can avoid playing doc and Cov together then it’s a decent enough result2

100% agree. Think we look much stronger than last season. Not convinced with Bell at left back for the whole season, but we do have other options there. Overall, very positive. Got a feeling Grant will have a great season for us.TheNotoriousBWP said:It’s a shame that that’s probably the Holsgrove deal over, but honestly I’m pretty happy with our options in midfield and all over the pitch overall now. id find it weird having Doc still captain, especially with even more limited playing time it seems. LJ seems the obvious choice for captain, but guess if he ain’t signing a new contract then makes no sense. Not sure who else would be captain material, Godden maybe?Redguy12 said:

Definitely mate.
I think the Grant signing is really underrated. He was obviously good for us before but he looks to have really matured since then and has hopefully come back an even better player. Plenty of seasons in the Champ too which is great. Really really like that signing.7 -
The point I was trying to make is that Chalobah and Ouma are both defensive midfield players, and unless Nathan Jones has a plan it's hard to imagine us playing both.0
